Curtis High School teacher in Tacoma arrested for alleged sexual misconduct with underage female student

The randy teacher has not been identified.  The rampant epidemic of teachers having sex with students continues.  But, the media doesn’t make it a national story because teachers are a progressive special interest group.

Q13F Foxreports a 33-year-old Curtis High School teacher was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a female student, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of five counts of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

Troyer said detectives were investigating when the alleged relationship may have started.  The girl is now 17.

An image popped up on my Pinterest feed the other day that made me misty for one of my favorite defunct magazines - Cottage Living. For four years - 2004 - 2008 Cottage Living gave me pages and pages of inspiration and I miss the magazine dearly. Some of these images are 10 years old and they still look amazing.

Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico - The body of Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz, a reporter for Notisur and El Liberal del Sur was discovered in a clandestine grave in the municipality of Las Choapas with two other bodies. De la Cruz's body was taken back to his home. On February 5, a group of armed men invaded his home and kidnapped him.
State authorities arrested four men in connection with De la Cruz murder. The suspects were identified as Santos González Santiago, Jesús Antonio Pérez Herrera and Juan Manuel Rodríguez Hernández. They confessed to authorities, that they were hired by Teresa de Jesús Hernández Cruz, who operates El Bar del Mamey, to kidnap and kill De la Cruz. She paid $1,500 U.S. dollars to the suspects, to murder De la Cruz.
Amadeo Flores, the Veracruz State Justice Attorney during a press conference reported, that state authorities on Tuesday detained José Luis Márquez Hernández at a bus station in Coatzacoalcos. Hernández was trying to flee the area in a bus. He was able to identified Santiago, Herrera, Hernández as fellow kidnappers and murder participants, including Cruz, the Mamey bar owner as those responsible for De la Cruz homicide. Authorities were taken to a safe house near a clandestine grave where the four suspects were arrested. One of the suspects told authorities where the clandestine grave was located. De la Cruz's body along with two other bodies, one identified as Ernesto Ruiz Guillén and a third body that hasn't been identified were recovered by authorities.
De la Cruz had reported about a local criminal group that operated in the area who were trafficking and extorting undocumented immigrants. He also reported about several murders that occurred at the Mamey Bar.

Disposable Personal Income vs. CPI

The following scatter chart compares annual disposable personal income per capita growth (bottom scale) to the annual increase in the consumer price index (left scale).

From 1960 to 2013:

1. 2009 was the worst year for disposable personal income growth per capita. It was also the record low year for consumer price inflation.

2. 2013 was the second worst year for disposable personal income growth per capita. Once again, inflation came in below expectations.

The following chart shows recent annual disposable personal income per capita growth. I'm using the monthly data instead of the annual averages this time to more adequately show all the gory details.

$1.4M Lawsuit Settlement Reached Between La Fuente Restaurant Owners And Employees?

A $1.4M tentative settlement figure is being negotiated in a federal wage violation lawsuit between former employees and the owners of La Fuente Restaurant.

By H. Nelson Goodson

(Updated)

Milwaukee,  WI -  On Tuesday, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has learned that a $1.4 million tentative settlement figure is being negotiated by five plaintiffs claiming that La Fuente Restaurant established a written work policy to pressure servers who wanted to keep their jobs, to come in early to set-up tables without an hourly wage or pay before customers would come in to eat. The early work policy was enforced in two restaurants that resulted in wage violations.
Attorney Larry Johnson representing the plaintiffs contacted HNNUSA and confirmed that a settlement has not been reached in the La Fuente case. Johnson would not confirm or deny the $1.4M figure being negotiated.
In an e-mail, Johnson wrote, that both La Fuente and the plaintiffs in a joint statement confirmed that no settlement has been reached and La Fuente denies any wrongdoing. Which strongly indicates, a settlement is about to be reached.
The employees had claimed that they were not compensated for the early hours worked, had to share tips with other staff, were forced to pay for food and drinks not accepted by customers or those that left without paying the bill for the meal. The employees claimed they were paid below the minimum wage allowed.
The workers also had to pay for their uniforms, aprons, hot pads to serve fajitas, order pads and employees name tags, according to the lawsuit.
The employees affected were seeking wage compensation, attorney's fees and for La Fuente to abide by fair employment practices.
Dozens of employees including former employees contacted the plaintiff's attorney in a class action federal lawsuit, but only five actually proceeded with the lawsuit, according to the lawsuit filing. Both Jose Zarate and Elva Navejar, the owners operate three La Fuente Restaurants at the 600 block of S. 5th Street in Milwaukee's South side, 9400 block of Bluemound Road in Wuawatosa and 2400 block of Kossow Road in Waukesha.
More than five years ago, La Fuente allegedly had previously included a service fee (mandatory 18%) on the bill of multiple people at a table, but those paying with credit cards were unaware and left additional tips. The restaurant had to change its practice and removed the service fee wording on the receipts with multiple customers on a table after complaints surfaced.

28 Republicans may now face the tea-party music after debt-limit vote

For every action there’s an opposite and equal reaction.  Feckless GOPers in The House may be in for a rude awakening come primary season.

LA Times reports Right-wing and tea-party groups already have House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) on their enemies list, thanks to his stance on last year's bipartisan budget agreement. One can only wonder what will happen to the rest of the House
GOP leadership now that many of them have voted in favor of a -- gasp -- debt-limit increase with no strings attached.

The voteTuesday was 221 to 201, with 28 Republicans joining 193 Democrats in the yes column. Only two Democrats voted no, alongside 199 Republicans.

Even some tea-party affiliated Republicans had endorsed the idea of a "clean" debt-limit bill on the assumption that it would pass mainly with Democratic votes. That way, they reasoned, Republicans could wash their hands of the distasteful affair and blame Democrats for piling on more debt.

Officially, though, tea-party talking heads were outraged at the vote.

“We recognize that Speaker John Boehner was unable to corral a House majority to insist on some budget reform," said Tea Party Express Executive Director Taylor Budowich in a news release. "Unfortunately, that means the GOP has lost yet another opportunity to prove to the American people that the Republican Party will fight to stop Washington's reckless spending. Instead, they focus voters on the need to continue to defeat incumbents who are unwilling to stand up and fight for the very Americans that sent them to D.C. in the first place."

Maybe so, but really, the debt limit is just ministerial. Republicans and Democrats jointly voted to pile on more debt in December (through the $1-trillion budget resolution, which was about half funded by borrowing) and in January (through an enormous spending bill for fiscal 2014, which also relied on borrowed dollars). Raising the debt limit simply lets Washington keep its commitments and pay its creditors.

Cops: Coughlin teacher Stephen Stahl had sex with 16 yr old female student

This guy had the nerve to be dean of students.  But, here’s the kicker.  He only faces misdemeanor charges for having sex with a student.

Citizens Voice reports the suspended dean of students at Coughlin High School was hit Monday with charges alleging he had an ongoing sexual relationship with a teenage student.

Police allege Stephen Stahl, a 47-year-old teacher and wrestling coach, showered a 16-year-old girl with gifts during a lengthy relationship in which they had sex in classroom closets and cheap motels.

Stahl, who is suspended without pay, is facing a misdemeanor count of corrupting a minor. He declined to comment as he left court, free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Police say they learned of the allegations Dec. 31, when the victim told investigators she had been in a sexual relationship with a teacher.

During a subsequent interview, the girl told police that she started as a freshman at Coughlin in 2002, and that during her sophomore year Stahl began talking to her in the hallways, sometimes commenting on her appearance, according to a police affidavit.
The girl did not have Stahl as a teacher, but he began asking her to meet him in his basement classroom during eighth period, when most students would have gone for the day, police said.
