WOW! - When "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest"...
by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty
-vs- Tyranny

As one of many many millions who support the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms I just can't imagine how the dude in the video, or others like him is helping the efforts of firearm advocates and preservation of the 2'nd amendment.

Reasonable restrictions on firearms (semi automatic assault weapons) high capacity (extended) magazines, more extensive back ground checks hardly seems unreasonable.

I could very well be wrong, but as far as I have been able to determine no one person or group has been advocating a total ban or elimination of 2'nd amendment rights. At least no one with any credibility or authority. If anyone can point me to information to the contrary I would love the link(s).

Stability of the dude? A bit questionable...

I'm looking forward to Mr. Biden's final recommendations. One can only hope the debate following will remain civil and rational.

Jack Lew's Signature

This is the signature of the nominee to be the next Secretary of the Treasury:

Lew's Loopdeloop

It looks like a child's doodle, not even coming close to resembling his name except for perhaps the first loops potentially forming a "J."  (My signature is not awesome, but at least I make an attempt and can explain its form.)

I'm not trained to interpret people's personalities based on their handwriting, but in this case I'm going to anyway.

Is his signature reflective of some sort of nihilist, post-modern world view that he may possess, where nothing, including his own name, has any meaning?  This world view will help in Washington since fiscal responsibility apparently has no meaning anyway.

Or perhaps it is a sign of supreme arrogance--he is so great, why should he have to lower himself to sign his name for those beneath him?

If he can't even take the time to make his signature even remotely reflect his name, why should we think for a minute that he will take the time to ensure his policies make sense for the people of the United States within the framework of our Constitution?  (I bet he does not hold the Constitution in high regard at all.)

His signature is ridiculous.  Here is some background on the man:

Sessions To Budget Director Lew: Stop Repeating Budget Spin (video)

Here's Obama's Message to GOP by Appointing Lew Treasury Secretary
Published: Thursday, 10 Jan 2013 | 1:41 PM ET
Senior Editor, CNBC.com (link to article)

President Barack Obama is sending a pointed message to Republicans by nominating Jack Lew as Treasury Secretary: I'm not backing down from this budget fight.

This is certainly a blow to any hope that Republicans might have had that Obama would flinch from his pledge not to negotiate over the debt ceiling. The president has said he will demand a clean bill raising the debt ceiling, unattached to any conditions or spending cuts.
To call Lew's relationship with Capitol Hill Republicans strained would be an understatement. According to some on the Hill, there just is no relationship anymore.
"We do not even bother talking to him," a staffer for a Republican senator said.
When Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell called Vice President Joe Biden as the deadline to cut a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff loomed, it was a sign of the tensions between the senator and Lew. McConnell had to create a new channel for negotiations because he could no longer go through the White House.
Here's how Manu Raju at Politico.com describes the tensions between Lew and Republicans:
Several Republicans said Tuesday they don't view Lew as a man interested in hearing GOP concerns. One aide called him "tone deaf" in understanding the compromises that Republicans could accept during high-stakes talks.
"No matter what you're proposing or no matter what compromise you're trying to forge, he comes at it from a position of, 'Whatever you want, I have to be against,'" the GOP aide said. "It doesn't advantage him in the negotiation, he doesn't get a different policy outcome than he would otherwise. It just irritates people. … It's as much personality as anything else."
These tensions are not new. Lew alienated Republican lawmakers during the summer of 2011 when he was director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. According to Rich Miniter's book Leading from Behind, House Speaker John Boehner complained during the 2011 debt ceiling negotiations that he simply could not negotiate with Lew.

CIA Nominee John Brennan Does Not Understand Jihad

"Brennan endorsed the administration’s determination to delete words like “jihadist” and “war on terror” from its lexicon. 'They are not jihadists, for jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose, and there is nothing–absolutely nothing–holy or pure or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children...'"  (source)
I cannot believe this guy has a chance in hell of leading our nation's top spy agency when his failure to understand the true nature of the threat posed by Islam will put us at greater risk.  He does not understand that violent jihad is in fact "legitimate" in the eyes of the Islamic religion, so the violence he is talking about against "innocent" men, women and children is in fact holy, pure, and legitimate in the ideology of Islam.  It sounds like he is reading from talking points provided by CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations), a Muslim Brotherhood front group.

Other concerning information about Brennan (taken from the article that follows):
  • He referred to Jerusalem as "Al Quds."
  • He believes the 20% recidivism rate from those released from Guantanamo Bay "isn't that bad"
  • He said that that “violent extremists” are victims of “political, economic and social forces.”
  • ”The FBI gave a guided tour of one of our most sensitive counter-terrorism facilities to a known Hamas operative,” [Frank] Gaffney said. “It is clear that the cluelessness fostered by Mr. Brennan is causing an empowering of the wrong sorts of Muslims in America and endangering the American people.”
  • Judicial Watch...obtained documents...revealing that Brennan and Defense Department officials disclosed to Hollywood filmmakers the identity of the SEAL Team Six operator and commander involved in taking out Osama Bin Laden.

Jihad Denialist Nominated to Head CIA

Tue, January 8, 2013

by:
 Arnold Ahlert
U.S. President Barak Obama announces his nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA. (Photo:Reuters)President Obama’s determination to keep his Middle East outreach agenda alive, no matter how at odds with reality, continues. Yesterday, John Brennan, Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, was nominated to head the CIA, replacing scandal-scarred David Petraeus. “John knows what our national security demands,” Obama announced:
“John has an invaluable perspective on the forces, the history, the culture, the politics, economics, the desire for human dignity driving so much of the changes in today’s world…He knows the risks that our intelligence professionals face every day.”
At best, the 25-year CIA veteran’s record is a mixed bag. At worst, he becomes another link in the administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Islamic terrorists.
[...]
In 2009, Brennan came under fire again, as the result of the colossal intelligence failure that allowed terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to board Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day 2009, during which he attempted to detonate an underwear bomb.
[...]
After calls for his resignation, Brennan responded to the criticism in a USA Todayeditorial. “Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda,” he wrote. ”Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.”
One suspects those on board Flight 253 might disagree. Yet Brennan doubled down, and insisted on treating Abdulmutallab as a criminal, rather than an enemy combatant, contending that it is “naive to think that transferring Abdulmutallab to military custody would have caused an outpouring of information. There is little difference between military and civilian custody, other than an interrogator with a uniform. The suspect gets access to a lawyer, and interrogation rules are nearly identical,” Brennan contended.
Brennan further cemented his soft-on-terror credentials only days later in a February 13, 2010 speech at New York University law school’s Islamic Center. In front of  a largely Muslim audience, he called for trying 9/11 terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian court.
During the same speech, Brennan endorsed the administration’s determination to delete words like “jihadist” and “war on terror” from its lexicon. “They are not jihadists, for jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose, and there is nothing–absolutely nothing–holy or pure or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children,” Brennan insisted. “We are not waging a war against terrorism because terrorism is but a tactic that will never be defeated, any more than a tactics of war will.”
In another telling moment, Brennan’s first referred to Jerusalem as al-Quds, which is its Arabic name. ”In all my travels the city I have come to love most is al-Quds, Jerusalem, where three great faiths come together,” he said.
During the question and answer period, Brennan contended that a 20 percent recidivism rate for terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay prison “isn’t that bad” when compared to the American penal system. ”People sometimes use that figure, 20 percent, say ‘Oh my goodness, one out of five detainees returned to some type of extremist activity,’” Brennan said. “You know, the American penal system, the recidivism rate is up to something about 50 percent or so, as far as return to crime. Twenty percent isn’t that bad.”
That Brennan could compare one-in-five hardcore terrorists returning to the task of waging war against the West with regular criminals of all kinds, demonstrates either a monumental level of naiveté, or a disingenuousness bordering on delusion.
In another speech given in May 2010 at the Nixon Center, Brennan upped the ante yet again, asserting that that “violent extremists” are victims of “political, economic and social forces.” Reuters reveals additional comments Brennan made, following his return from Lebanon:
“Hezbollah is a very interesting organization,” Brennan told a Washington conference, citing its evolution from “purely a terrorist organization” to a militia to an organization that now has members within the parliament and the cabinet. ”There is certainly the elements of Hezbollah that are truly a concern to us what they’re doing. And what we need to do is to find ways to diminish their influence within the organization and to try to build up the more moderate elements,” Brennan said.”
Again, one might be forgiven for wondering what constitutes a “moderate” in an organization that has carried out a series of worldwide terror attacks over the course of decades, yearns for Israel’s annihilation and, prior to 9/11, was responsible for killing more Americans than any other terrorist organization in the world.
Unfortunately, Brennan’s infatuation with outreach is not limited to Hezbollah. In 2010, columnist Patrick Poole revealed that Hamas operative Kifah Mustapha was given a guided tour of the “National Counterterrorism Center and other secure government facilities, including the FBI’s training center at Quantico.”
Mustapha was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land foundation case, during which his colleagues were convicted of funding Hamas, yet another U.S.-designated terrorist organization. Center for Security Policy chief Frank Gaffney, a former Reagan administration official, demanded Brennan’s resignation as a result. ”The FBI gave a guided tour of one of our most sensitive counter-terrorism facilities to a known Hamas operative,” Gaffney said. “It is clear that the cluelessness fostered by Mr. Brennan is causing an empowering of the wrong sorts of Muslims in America and endangering the American people.”
Brennan penchant for revealing America’s secrets continued in 2012. When the United States thwarted another would-be underwear bomber last May, Brennan inadvertently revealed we had a double-agent working on the case when he briefed former counter-terrorism advisors who subsequently got work as TV commentators.
He told them that the bomber was never a threat because America had “inside control” of the situation. The former advisors reached the inexorable conclusion shortly thereafter.
May was also the month Judicial Watch finally obtained documents, via a Freedom of Information Act, from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA,) revealing that Brennan and Defense Department officials disclosed to Hollywood filmmakers the identity of the SEAL Team Six operator and commander involved in taking out Osama Bin Laden. A transcript of a meeting held July 14, 2011, reveals that ”documents seemingly reference John O. Brennan, Chief Counterterrorism Advisor to President Obama and Denis McDonough, who serves as President Obama’s Deputy National Security Advisor.”
“These documents, which took nine months and a federal lawsuit to disgorge from the Obama administration, show that politically-connected film makers were giving extraordinary and secret access to bin Laden raid information, including the identity of a Seal Team Six leader,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is both ironic and hypocritical that the Obama administration stonewalled Judicial Watch’s pursuit of the bin Laden death photos, citing national security concerns, yet seemed willing to share intimate details regarding the raid to help Hollywood filmmakers release a movie ‘perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost’ to the Obama campaign.”
All of the above suggests that John Brennan is, at the least, an extremely dubious pick to head the CIA. But a story by Associated Press columnist Kimberly Dozier entitled, “Who Will US Drones Target? Who Will Decide?” paints an even more disturbing picture of Brennan, who she contends has “seized the lead in guiding the debate on which terror leaders will be targeted for drone attacks or raids, establishing a new procedure to vet both military and CIA targets. The move concentrates power over the use of lethal U.S. force outside war zones at the White House,” she writes. She further noted that while some intelligence officials are comfortable with the new process, others expressed concern about ”how easy it has become to kill someone.”
PJ Media’s Patrick Poole puts it more directly: “John Brennan is the man under whom President Obama has consolidated the unprecedented power of assassination. He directly controls and oversees all aspects of the program that had been previously divided between the Pentagon, the CIA, and other officials,” he writes.
"War on Terrorism Is Over"

The Washington Times Edit Board (Video 1 and Video 2)--in the second video Brennan refuses to answer questions about the true nature of jihad.

WASHINGTON—The nation's largest gun-rights lobby says its meeting at the White House was more about demonizing the Second Amendment than about keeping students safe.
The National Rifle Association met with Vice President Joe Biden's school safety study group on Thursday and afterward said the participants spent most their time on proposals to limit gun rights. The NRA says it, quote, "will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen."
The politically powerful group—under public pressure since December's school shooting in Newtown, Conn., where a gunman massacred 20 children and six women—says it will now work with Congress to discuss what works in preventing violence and what does not.
The NRA previously proposed armed security in every American school.
Read the NRA's full statement below:
Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

Teacher Put On Leave After Stomping On The US Flag In Front Of Students

By Findalis
Monkey in the Middle

Hat Tip to Wake Up America

Scott Compton, an English teacher at Chapin High School in Chapin, S.C. has been put on administrative leave after students detail his actions in classes where he took an American flag, threw it on the floor, and stomped on it while telling his students "‘This is a symbol, but it’s only a piece of cloth. It doesn’t mean anything."

One parent, Michael Copeland, said he heard his teenage daughter discussing the incident and asked her to tell him the whole story.
“He drew a couple of symbols, like one of them was a cross, and he said, ‘What does this represent,’ and everybody said, ‘Christianity,’” Copeland explained to WIS.

“Then he proceeds to take down the American flag, and said, ‘This is a symbol, but it’s only a piece of cloth. It doesn’t mean anything,’ and then he throws it down on the floor and then stomps on it, repeatedly,” Copeland continued.

“I asked what was he trying to get, the point across? And she said, ‘I don’t know,’ and he said, his explanation was there would be no consequences, it’s just a piece of cloth that doesn’t mean anything.”
The best response I have seen so far reportedly comes from Mark Bounds, a spokesperson for the school district:
“Our superintendent served in the military, I served in the military for 20 years, our flag is a symbol of our freedom, and so many people have fought and died for that liberty, and so we take this action very seriously,” Bounds added.
As well they should.

I am sure there are a number of active military and veterans, among many others, that would take offense at Mr. Compton's actions.

On a personal note:

When I was in school (During the Stone Age) we were respectful to the flag.  We had better been.  If we had done such a deed in front of our classmates, forget our teachers, we would have gotten our heads handed to us by our friends, families, teachers, etc...   If a teacher had done this, he would have found himself in the hospital by our fathers (most of whom fought in WW 2).

What Scott Compton did is just a sign of the ineptitude of our teachers.  The lack of morals and patriotism that we have been seeing for the last 4 years.  Our children are being indoctrinated (There is nothing that even resembles teaching.) by members of the Communist Party, by people who wish to destroy this nation.

If you have children in the Public Pubic Schools get them out now!!!  Home school them if you cannot afford to put them in a decent school.  Do it today!

The Black Market for Guns is Leaning Forward ... J. D. Longstreet

The Black Market for Guns is Leaning Forward ... J. D. Longstreet
The Black Market for Guns is Leaning Forward
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
***************

A nationwide black market for guns, especially illegal so-called "assault weapons," is being developed as I write these words.

Now, I have no "proof" of that.  It's what we used to call "common sense."   (One could learn from history -- if one was so inclined.)

If we learned anything at all from Prohibition, it was that decreasing supply does absolutely NOTHING to decrease demand.  In fact. It could be argued that decreasing supply actually INCREASES demand, especially if that which is in short supply is also ILLEGAL  It's that "forbidden fruit" thingy with which we human beings are cursed.  Tell us we CAN'T have something -- and we want that something more than we ever did before. It is derived, I think, from our rebellious spirit.  It is a natural phenomena.  We can't help ourselves.   See, we come wired that way.

Taking guns away from Americans is about as dumb an idea as our political leaders have ever had!   And BOY, that is saying a LOT.  I've been on this earth for well over seventy years, and I gotta tell you, that is the dumbest bunch, in Washington, DC, America has ever had the misfortune to endure!
Wait 'til the gun running across our borders begins.  I mean running guns NORTH from Mexico and South from Canada and slipping up the waterways in the little inlets and coves along the southeastern and Gulf coasts.  Many of those smuggling routes have been long established by drug runners.  Do not think for one moment they will not be used to run guns into America for they most certainly will be.

Now here's the thing:  Gun runners will have the assistance of the, well, you know, honest, everyday, salt of the earth, "average" American citizens.  They will not be restrained by the "sin factor" as they were  for drugs and booze. No, we have documented evidence that even Christ endorsed weapons for self defense.  (Luke Chapter 22 verses 36 through 38: " 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37: For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38: And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.")

Then there is the DIY crowd.  The "do it yourself" bunch.  These are the folks who will retire to their basement or garage workshop and exit sometime later with a fully operational firearm.  Plans are already available for homemade machine guns built completely from off the shelf parts.  And NO, I am not kidding.

Did you ever see a moonshine still in operation?  A good still , set back in the woods near a water supply, can produce unbelievable amounts of illegal whiskey.  Here in North Carolina, good moonshine whiskey is considered a real treat and the making of it a true art.

I'm pointing to moonshiners here to say this: just as those whiskey makers can turn out all that illegal whiskey, gun smiths can -- and will -- manufacture illegal weapons at a quantity you will not believe.  Plus, they will have no qualms about building a fully automatic rifle, or, as we pointed out above,  even machine guns.  No paperwork, no background checks, no serial numbers on the weapons, these weapons will be virtually untraceable.

Heck, I made my first zip-gun while in my early teens and carried it for years, loaded, on my person. For years, as an adult, I carried a loaded zip-gun, disguised as a ball point pen, in my shirt pocket -- everywhere I went.  It fired a single round, but up close (and applied properly) it was lethal.

The point is -- the government will never get our guns.  They may get SOME guns but they will never successfully disarm Americans.  Just as in the days of Prohibition, whiskey making flourished, expect gun making to flourish.  There will be a proliferation of weapons coming from home workshops to illegal gun/munitions factories.  They will be flowing unchecked and unregulated by the government.  It will be the government's worst nightmare.

One may call it "the law of unintended consequences," if you choose, but, I am of the opinion the gun grabbers know this and they intend to go ahead with their agenda to disarm America even with the certain knowledge they will make the proliferation of guns in America as great as, or greater than, it is today.

No.  This is a power play on the part of the gun grabbers.  It's not about gun control.  It's about people control.  It is an integral part of their authoritarian approach to governing.

They are playing with fire.  It is safe to say, therefore, they're going to get burned.

Gun Control: Why the Rush?

Why the rush when it comes to the current push for gun control legislation (and executive orders)?

It is because those who want to control guns seek to capitalize on the current wave of emotion as a result of the Sandy Hook attack, so that there will be less of a chance that logic and reason will be brought into play.  That is why the power hungry love a crisis ("never let a crisis go to waste") so that they can take advantage of emotion and the absence, or even outright dismissal, of rational thought to achieve their own objectives.

It is therefore healthy for a free people to be skeptical of the actions of their government.  It is even more important that they do so when the government tells us such actions must be taken "quickly" to avert some sort of "tragedy."  We must force them to debate the issue using logic, facts, and reason within the framework of our Constitution to arrive at a solution, if a solution is required at all.

The current issue involves the right to bear arms as codified by the Second Amendment of our Constitution.  When any issue arises that may impact our liberties as citizens of the United States, we must deal with it in an deliberate and thoughtful manner to best safeguard our rights.  To cavalierly charge forward in a quest to solve some perceived problem has a high probability of trampling on our rights.  This may be by design, mind you, which I believe to be the case in the current issue involving our right to bear arms.

We must rationally consider the issue at hand in order to arrive at a sound solution (if a solution is necessary) that protects the freedoms of Americans.  To rush to a solution may throw away our rights in the process.

Frosty blue crush

Today is the "icy light blue" day, a color that I didn't explore to much, but never say never... I love this  color in the hot Summer days as much I love it right now in the cold winter days.
This pastel fuzzy coat is a fun piece to look at is as well as wearing it. I paired with light blue heels and jeans, and just one bold red accent, this 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute clutch (Christmas gift).
I'm sure that, this is just a first combination... more to come...

Nonfinancial Business Debt

Maria Bartiromo of CNBC assures us yet again that American businesses are flush with cash. This is great news!

The following chart shows nonfinancial corporate business debt (in red) and nonfarm nonfinancial nonfarm noncorporate business debt (in blue) as a combined percentage of GDP (stacked chart).

If businesses are truly flush with cash, then that must mean that they can afford to pay off a small portion of their $12+ trillion debt! As seen in blue, note that the noncorporate businesses are certainly trying. The corporate world can't get enough debt though. No amount is too much! To infinity and beyond!

Put another way, it would seem that companies are generally flush with borrowed cash. That might explain why less than 1% of the companies in the S&P 500 currently have an AAA credit rating. Go figure.

More and more, in fact, companies have found that a AAA credit rating is not something worth aspiring to if a more conservative approach means lower profits.

Please note that this doesn't even include the financial industry. We all know how rock solid that is though. Nothing to fear there. No sir!

Too much sarcasm? It seems excessive this time. Oh, what the hell. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Obama Will Move Quickly To Disarm American Gun Owners
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

Gun owners -- get ready.  All indications are that Obama is about to bring the hammer down.  It's going to get down and dirty extremely fast.

As the gun grabbers begin to realize that more people oppose their gun bans than agree with them they are beginning to have doubts they will be able to get legislation through the Congress.  At first blush that may seem a good thing, but frankly, I'm not so sure.  Their other option is far more worrisome.

It is, of course, the Presidential Executive Order.

We have a President who prefers the EO
for wielding power.  Apparently, it makes him feel like the king we wishes himself to be.  The power of the Executive Order can place a President in a position as close to becoming King of America as is possible under our current system of government. That can be very compelling to certain narcissistic type personalities.

Some close to the guns rights issue are reporting what they see as a strong possibility that an Executive Order(s) will be issued banning all semi-automatic weapons. The semi-automatic rifles and shotguns and handguns only fire one round each time you pull the trigger. And you must pull the trigger for it to fire a single round.  It will not fire again until you pull the trigger again.

Pull the trigger on an automatic weapon and it will continue firing until it fires every round in it's clip/magazine -- as long as you hold the trigger down. Simplified -- THAT is the difference between a semi-automatic and an automatic weapon.

The Obama gun grabbers would do this by changing the classification of semi-automatic weapons to Type-2 weapons meaning they would then be classified as some sort of machine gun.  (A Type-2 machine gun was developed by the Japanese during World War Two to be used on their combat aircraft.)  I am not placing a great deal of credence in this until I learn more about it.

But it seems clear those coming after our guns are willing to invoke all sorts of legal acrobatics to reach their goal of stripping America's gun owners of all their firearms.

They need a data base of all the gun owners in America and the number and type and serial numbers of all weapons each gun owner has in his/her possession and where, exactly, those weapons are kept/stored. I look for the creation of that list to be right at the top of the first Presidential Executive Order to come out of the Oval Office.

It is most likely the ATF (BATFE) will be given the job of insuring gun owners register their weapons and I expect there will be stiff jail sentences for those gun owners who refuse to register all their weapons within a given time frame.

So.  What are our options as gun owners?  Not many to be truthful.

We can insist that Congress slash funding for the BATFE (ATF) and/or we can insist that Congress abolish the entire bureau and be done with it.  But what would stop Obama from assigning the same duties to another government agency such as the Department of Homeland Security, or the Transportation Security Administration, or some other agency that could be created by the stroke of Obama's pen to replace the BATFE?

As if you needed reminding, I will point to the WACO SHOOTOUT at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, and remind you the government agency there was the BATFE.  So -- please do not deceive yourself and think because they (members of BATFE), too, are Americans they will not fire on American resistors.  We have seen ample evidence to the contrary.

The Obama Administration knows there will be civil disobedience over this issue and they are prepared for it. (Remember all those purchases of tons of hollow point ammunition the government made last year through various agencies of the government.  Remember how we NEVER obtained a reasonable explanation for those massive ammo purchases?  Something to think about, what?)

As we have warned many times previously, the government is going to move quickly on their efforts to disarm America -- for two reasons:

One - They MUST strike while the iron is hot, which is to say while emotions are still high from the slaughter of those school children in Connecticut.  America has an infamously short memory and if they do not move, tempers will cool, and the appetite for stripping Americans of even more of their freedom will slip away and the gun grabbers opportunity will be lost.

Two - The government must move quickly before gun owners can organize into a formal resistance.

I must tell you I have been gravely disappointed in the reaction to all this from the leading gun rights groups in America.  So far, they have delivered way too little way to late.  Being nice and respectful after the families and, indeed, the nation suffered such pain and trauma from the murder of the Sandy Hook children, was, in fact, the NICE, descent, thing to do, it only underscores the old saw that "nice guys finish last."  Look at the last Presidential Election if you have any doubt at all.

It remains to be seen what action states will take in opposing the new gun control laws handed down from Washington.

Some suggest that states create their own state militias, separate from the National Guard, but under command of the governor of the state.  Each citizen would become a member of that state militia at birth and would be granted, as a citizen of the state, the right to keep and bear arms within that state regardless of federal law to the contrary.   I suspect some states may do just that.  This would, indeed, be a matter of state sovereignty and I would expect the US Supreme Court to rule it unconstitutional.

The next four years are going to be the closest thing to hell on earth possible to imagine for anyone not aligned with the political left in America. It is shaping up to be a time of great tribulation and persecution for those of us on the right side of the political spectrum.  Then --  it will turn on itself and devour those who so rabidly support  its freedom destroying efforts today.

It doesn't take a crystal ball to see America's future.  You see, what we are witnessing in America today, my generation has seen many times before.  We recognize it for what it is -- pure evil.  We've seen the bodies pileup.  We've seen what happens when the whole WORLD is at war.  And we know the cost as our families paid that cost in blood.

Only a fool can look into America's future today and not be frightened and appalled at what he sees.

America will stand alone in the coming chaos. As the pamphleteers of pre-revolutionary days told us the "fair weather friend" and the "summertime soldier" will be nowhere to be found when the real trouble begins.  But you can bet our enemies will be circling, just out side the firelight waiting, waiting, for their chance to rip their pound of flesh from our embattled bones.

It is OUR problem.  WE created it and only WE can solve it, else we perish as a nation, as a people.

Nature's law, we are assured, demands only the survival of the fittest.  If we cannot rescue ourselves from this national torment what will history say of our claim of "exceptionalism?"

The last time America went to war with itself we left nearly 700,000 Americans dead upon the battlefields.  We created an underclass of Americans, many of whom still resent us to this day.  At the same time we occupied another class of Americans and forced their allegiance at the point of a government bayonet  -- also to this day.

My point is -- nobody really wins when a nation wars with itself.  In the end, we all pay a heavy price.

As much as I would like to feel that these words will have some impact on the driving forces of the "gun grabbing movement," hopefully to instigate a pause for reflection on the damage they are about to do to our country,  I am not so foolish as to deceive myself into believing they will.

America is cursed with leadership that is incapable of being and doing wrong.  Our President is infallible.  Never mind that history is replete with the results of the failures of infallible leaders. HE cannot fail.

Deception of one's self is the easiest deception of all -- and the most deadly.

Already, TODAY, American society is one of the most "totalitarian" the world has ever seen. A blanket made up of millions of laws, rules, and regulations are suffocating freedom and liberty to death in America.

Think today's America is NOT totalitarian?  Here's what the dictionary has to say about  totalitarian:  According to Merriam-Webster, the following is one of the ways that the word “totalitarian” is defined: “of or relating to a political regime based on subordination of the individual to the state and strict control of all aspects of the life and productive capacity of the nation especially by coercive measures”.   Still think America is the "land of the free," huh?

Please consider the following quote from President Ronald Reagan:  “If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.”

This "gun" battle may, in fact, turn out to be -- freedom's last stand.
