ARTISTIC inspiration

My artistic input love is quite obvious in today's post. Printed flowers pants ( very like a Monet ), yellow heels to brighten up even more this look and a daring clutch manually painted by a fellow artist are the wearable art pieces of today's outfit post:)
I guess I can't help myself with these avalanches of colours.

And now the critique please :)

Riding The Whirlwind ... J. D. Longstreet

Riding The Whirlwind ... J. D. Longstreet

Riding The Whirlwind
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*********************
A whirlwind is a vertical column of air whirling around itself as it moves over the surface of the Earth.  Think about that for a moment.

Now.  Consider this:  "For they sow the wind; and they reap the whirlwind."  That is from the Old Testament book of Hosea chapter 8 verse 7.

Like so many of the conservative commentariat,  I am STILL trying to analyze why America deliberately decided to turn a corner, or choose a path, that will unquestionably lead to its own destruction.

The choice to forsake a constitutional republic for a socialist, collectivist, Marxist, form of government is surreal.  It's like something from a bad science fiction movie in which the population is entirely controlled by some malevolent entity intent upon controlling the world.

I must confess:  I made a terrible mistake in that I assumed the American people still had enough common sense, enough discernment, enough honor left to do the right thing.

Last November the American electorate proved me wrong.  Woefully wrong.

Our ship of state was (is) (so obviously) headed toward the jagged rocks I assumed we would remove the less-than-adequate helmsman and replace him with a real mariner who would stir us away from certain destruction on the shoals and rocks. I was terribly wrong.

The reelection of Obama was a grand victory for ignorance.  It is the pay-off for years of indoctrination in our public schools.  The old Judeo-Christian ethics have been purged from our public education system in favor of secular humanism.  You can lay the blame for paving the way for it at the feet of our leftist, radical, Supreme Court and the Court's rulings from as far back as the 1960's.

Abraham Lincoln is given credit for saying: "The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."  Whoever said it -- it was spot on.

The old Proverb -- "As the twig is bent, so grows the tree" is absolutely correct.  I think the ultimate source of this old proverb is from the Bible: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  Proverbs 22: 6.  We see ample proof of the wisdom of this proverb in our public education system today.

If you, perhaps, thought those of us who warned for decades of the trouble ahead for America due to the secular (and even religious) humanism being taught in our public schools were just blowing smoke -- consider the following carefully: "Expanding upon the role the public education establishment should play to bring about the goals described in the Humanist Manifesto II, John Dumphy wrote: "I am convinced that the battle for humankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers that correctly perceive their role as proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being...The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and new -- the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism, resplendent with the promise of a world in which the never-realized Christian ideal of 'love thy neighbor' will finally be achieved." (Emphasis by underlining is MINE.)  SOURCE:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanist_Manifesto

The generation of Americans who elected -- and then reelected -- Obama were graduates of this public school system.  They were programmed to act as automatons, to choose loyalty to the state over loyalty to God and their family.  They marched to the polls and did as they had been told, indeed, had been taught, programmed, -- indoctrinated to do.

Author Ron Taylor, in his book  "Agenda 21: An Expose of the United Nations" in which he writes of  the  "Sustainable Development Initiative and the Forfeiture of American Sovereignty and Liberties" says the following:  "It is their stated goal...to steal one generation of children and teach them to place loyalty to the state above loyalty to family."

See, this generation knows almost nothing of American history.  They know next to nothing about the Judeo-Christian origin of America.  They are ignorant of our founding documents, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.  The only thing they know about capitalism and the American system of free markets is what they were taught -- that capitalism is bad.  They know far more about the benefits of Socialism and Marxism and "equality."

"Those coming out of years of humanistic brainwashing masquerading as public education know little of the Bible, America's Christian origins and founding documents, and the blessings of free-market capitalism. Instead, they know a great deal about sex education, values clarification, moral relativism, Darwinian evolution, Socialism and Marxism, earth worship, multiculturalism, one-world globalism, Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, and appeasement foreign policy. Products of these schools comprised the Obama voters in 2012."  SOURCE:  http://www.bibleprophecyblog.com/2012/11/there-arose-another-generation-after.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BibleProphecyBlog+%28Bible+Prophecy+Blog%29#

The definition of discernment is:  The cognitive condition of someone who understands.  It also means:  The trait of judging wisely and objectively.  We learned on November 6th, of last year, that "discernment" is something that is "verging" on extinction in America today.  We no longer know our right hand from our left -- nor good from evil.  Thanks to moral relativism, better known as political correctness, modern Americans believe there is no such thing as good and evil, or right and wrong.  Everything is, well, relative.

It no longer matters what scripture teaches us, what history teaches us, what experience teaches us, what common sense teaches us, nor what plain old morality teaches us. No.  Now it is -- how do I feel about it.  "I," and/or "Me," is at the center of their very existence.

For a perfect example of this self-centered life, one has only to listen to one of our President's speeches.  Try to keep a running tally of the number of times the words "I" and "Me" and "MY" are spoken in a single address.  What is equally troubling is how effective the narcissism indoctrination of our young scholars has been.  For the most part, they don't even notice the over-abundant use of those personal pronouns "I" and "me" and the  "possessive" adjective "my,"  because,  to them, it's NORMAL!   How inexpressively sad that is.

Some years ago, I left my church when I "discerned" it was swinging away from the Gospels and embracing the apostate teachings of the leftist political agenda.  Now,we have social justice, environmentalism, inclusiveness, tolerance, multiculturalism, all lovingly spoken of from the pulpits of our religious community.

With all the respect I can muster for those of America's religious community who have sold out to mammon, allow me to ask:  Are you REALLY surprised that the leftist agenda you supported, and led your flocks to support, would come back to bite you?   As you have now learned, you cannot pick and choose which parts of the leftist agenda you will support and which parts you will not. It is all -- or nothing!

The reason so many are so concerned about America's future under Obama's second term is not JUST his Socialist/Marxist agenda only.  It is the sudden understanding that this was a culmination of all the work the progressive left has done in our schools and our churches since, at least, the late 1940's.

The progressive left has successfully created a hybrid American. They have created a society wholly dependent  upon others for, well, everything.  Easily led these new Americans can be made to do, say, and believe anything their masters want.  They are the perfect slaves.  And they are self perpetuating.

Ultimately, it means the death of America as the stabilizing force on the planet. Without America, chaos will reign on planet earth.  We are already seeing ample evidence of this all over the globe today.

This is why so many of us on the right are so troubled and upset by the results of the election last November.  Obama's reelection was the final step toward a single world-wide government or "global governance."

For many decades we have sown the wind.  Now, we shall reap the harvest from that which we have so blithely sown -- the whirlwind.  And having no choice now, we must learn to ride the whirlwind we have created.

Big Brother... Watching and... Listening... Thank you GWB for the Patriot Act and Homeland Security

by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty -vs- Tyranny

We can thank the Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Security (ie: GWB) for the current and nefarious acts by the NSA. However, what the hey, after all it's all in the name of giving up a bit of freedom in the name of a bit more security.

I imagine good and wise Benjamin Franklin must be rolling over in his resting place right about now.

POLITICO - Several lawmakers said they had not been briefed on the Obama administration’s classified programs to monitor cellphone and Internet traffic.

That’s in direct contradiction to President Barack Obama’s assertion. The president said on Friday that “every member of Congress” has been briefed on the programs led by the National Security Administration.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said in a telephone interview late Friday that he learned about the two programs after requesting a briefing under “classified circumstances” following urging by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

Durbin said congressional leadership and intelligence committees had access to information about the programs, but that the “average member” of Congress likely wouldn’t have been aware of the breadth of the telephone and Internet surveillance.

“They don’t receive this kind of briefing,” Durbin said of the congressional rank-and-file.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), who has railed against government intrusion on the Senate floor, told POLITICO that he “hadn’t been briefed on this particular issue,” referring to the NSA collection of phone records. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) also said he learned of phone monitoring through news reports, although he said it “wasn’t a surprise.”

“Not quite!” tweeted Rep. Billy Long (R-La.) in response to a tweet by ABC’s Rick Klein that said “Obama says ‘every member of Congress’ has been briefed on phone program #NSA; suggests only intel comm. knew of PRISM.”

The House and Senate intelligence committees, which oversee agencies like the NSA and Central Intelligence Agency, are routinely briefed on classified intelligence operations.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also get briefed, along with intelligence committee chairs and ranking members. Rank-and-file members of Congress, however, are only periodically briefed on specific incidents — there have been briefings recently on Syria and the Boston bombings.

Certainly BIG BROTHER IS watching and listening to us ALL. One of the saddest aspects of the situation is that BOTH the rEpublican and dEmocratic party are involved.

Destined no doubt to pick up steam given our national paranoia. That is my take on the situation. What's yours?

Good night. Rest soundly as BIG BROTHER is watching over and looking out for us all. Don't you feel so much better?

How A Canadian Government Stimulus Plan Works

How A Canadian Government Stimulus Plan Works
Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at Government House. One is from Ottawa, another is from Toronto, and the third is from Montreal. All three go with an official to examine the fence.

The Ottawa contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900, $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Toronto contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700. That's $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Montreal contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the government official and whispers, "$2,700."
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?"

The Montreal contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Toronto to fix the fence."

 "Done!" Replies the government official.

And that, my fellow tax payers, is how a Government Stimulus plan works.

Checks and Stripes

Probably you noticed that lately I'm wearing this light coat quite a lot. For a Spring rainy day this is just perfect. I have to admit that the pattern is a plus and I find it very easy to match with other prints as this pair of striped jeans.
A burst of color yellow and I was ready to ignore the foggy weather.

The American Police State ... J. D. Longstreet

The American Police State ... J. D. Longstreet
The American Police State
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

******************

I am one of those hapless Verizon customers the government is snooping on ... and I don't like it -- at all!

Look.  We Americans simply MUST realize we have a government gone rogue!   Corruption has now overtaken the bureaucrats and they have forsaken their green eye shades for whips and chains and shackles -- of the electronic sort, of course.

“Why should freedom of speech and freedom of the press be allowed? Why should a government which is doing what it believes to be right, allow itself to be criticized? It would not allow opposition by lethal weapons. Ideas are much more fatal things than guns. Why should any man be allowed to buy a printing press and disseminate pernicious opinion calculated to embarrass the government?” -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Read the original report on this latest US government atrocity here:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/interactive/2013/jun/06/verizon-telephone-data-court-order

Americans today are experiencing an unprecedented erosion of civil liberties and a blatant disregard for transparency at all levels of government. And it is only going to get worse.

Consider the following:  "Despite his clear and popular promises to the contrary, President Obama has not shifted the balance between security and freedom to a more natural state—one not blinded by worst fears and tarred by power grabs. If anything, things have gotten worse.
Killing civilians and U.S. citizens via drone.

Seizing telephone records at the Associated Press in violation of Justice Department guidelines.

Accusing a respected Fox News reporter of engaging in a conspiracy to commit treason for doing his job.

Detaining terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay, despite promises to end the ill-considered Bush policy.

Even the IRS scandal, while not a matter of foreign policy, strikes at the heart of growing concerns among Americans that their privacy is government's playpen.

And now this: The Guardian newspaper (Of the UK) reports that the National Security Agency is collecting telephone records of tens of millions of customers of one of the nation's largest phone companies, Verizon."

It appears to have finally come down to the government against the people in America.  All this simply means -- Americans are no longer free.

Just as an aside, does anyone else sense the irony that we Americans have a "black" American President creating the new American plantation upon which ALL Americans are slaves???  Is this some kind of cruel joke?  Hardly.

What did you expect, those of you who voted for Obama?  He plainly told you he planned to fundamentally change America -- and he HAS!

You cheered and applauded when he said:  "     It’s been a long time coming.

But tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America."
-- President Barack Obama, November 5, 2008.

And so, dear reader, the police state was ushered in to America -- not so much ushered in as elbowed in.

You know, as I think back to my high school days, when we actually studied the US Constitution, I recall that the Founders of the US warned us that the constitution would only work for a  “virtuous and moral” people.  If that is, in fact, the case, then all this chaos in our government today was inevitable.  I mean, we Americans are a lot of things but today's American is NOT a  “virtuous and moral” character.  Nosiree!  Anyone of our major cities would make Sodom and Gomorrah look like a monastery.

Just so we are clear -- the constitution did not fail us.  No.  WE failed the constitution!

Today we can look back and say the Founders of America were naive.  Perhaps they were. But -- they were honorable men and often honorable men tend to be a bit naive.

Maybe the Founding Fathers assumed that America would always see to it that only honorable men would hold national elective office.  Well, that didn't last long.  In less than one hundred years the first President to be impeached, Andrew Johnson, was impeached AND acquitted in 1868.  And it has been, pretty much, down hill from there.

The plain and simple truth is, dear reader, we Americans have done this to ourselves.  It will only be undone if we suck it up and do whatever is necessary to right the ship of state and return America to the course set for her by those honorable men two hundred and thirty some odd years ago.

The longer we wait the more difficult our task will become.  Some feel we have already waited too long.  My personal assessment is that we are on the cusp of having waited too long.  There is a window, left slightly ajar, for a reform movement to take America back, but -- realistically -- it is closing rapidly.

This latest atrocity by our power hungry government is just a symptom of the disease rotting the heart from our formerly great country.  It is even more frightening to wonder WHAT ELSE the government is doing.

Finally, for this scribe, the most troubling part of all is the lack of interest shown by so many Americans today concerning the loss of freedom.

For Americans less than 50 or 60 years of age,  a loss of freedom is unfathomable.   They have no clue what we "old fogies" are yelling about.  They were born into an America in which American freedom was already greatly curtailed and they have never known the freedom, personal freedom, and liberty my generation had the great good fortune to enjoy.  They don't miss it because they never had it!

Today, I think it has been made clear that the American police state we have been awaiting, arrived, already. We are just now becoming aware of it.

Sadly, those of my generation, those who see so clearly what America has lost are, due to the limitations of age and health, unable to do little more than enlighten the masses through our writing, and vocal protestations.  We can only make available the truth and hope that a spark will ignite the love of freedom once again in the breasts of the citizens of the once great America and rouse them to action with the determination to rescue their country from the jaws of a socialist dictatorship so deeply entrenched in our halls of government.

Look.  A world without America in a leadership position is a dangerous place.  Just look at the globe-scape today.  We are racing toward Armageddon.   We are stumbling and bumbling our way into a world-wide conflagration.  Only one nation can lead the world out of certain disaster -- AMERICAUnfortunately, America's leaders have chosen NOT TO LEAD.

America must be rescued and restored.  And it must be done quickly.  Time really IS running out.

Blue, White and Animal Print

I could live in flats forever!!! Yes is true, especially if they are a bit of pointed style as these animal print Keds. This style is just perfect for petite ladies and makes the leg longer (or at least this is my impression).
Well, for a casual afternoon this is my favorite choice and very comfortable.

Hanging Up The Stethoscope ... J. D. Longstreet

Hanging Up The Stethoscope ... J. D. Longstreet
Hanging Up The Stethoscope
The Doctor Is OUT!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

America's unmatched healthcare delivery system is already taking a beating from Obamacare.

As a semi-professional patient, having been hospitalized over eighty times since the mid 1960's, I have had a front row seat from which to observe the disintegration of our healthcare system.  It's bad, dear reader, very bad.

Many doctors are just hanging up their stethoscopes and walking away, going into retirement, selling their practices out to hospitals or to companies that specialize in running medical services.   Both my doctors had done exactly that. One retired and the other sold his practice to a hospital.

And this is on top of the doctor shortage we are already experiencing.

Consider this:  "When the Affordable Care Act’s insurance mandate takes effect in 2014, some 30 million newly covered patients—people generally treated in emergency rooms now—will be shopping for doctors. That’s a problem because the U.S. has 15,230 fewer primary-care physicians than it needs, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services." SOURCE: http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-09-27/a-looming-u-dot-s-dot-doctor-shortage

Then there is this:  "In fact, a recent Deloitte 2013 survey  of U.S. physicians found 57% doctors view changes in the industry under health-care reform as a threat, and six in 10 physicians report it’s likely that many will retire earlier than planned in the next two to three years, fueling the shortage."

The article goes on to say the following: "... but come 2020, there will be about 70,000 less doctors available to consumers as a direct result of the law, according to Deloitte." SOURCE: http://www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2013/04/17/obamacare-reality-doctor-shortage-on-way/#ixzz2VNdKV1C7

Think about this for a moment:

Suppose you went to school for 6 to 8 years (and longer) to earn your medical degree?  Suppose you had HUGE student loans to pay off as well as set up a practice and purchase the necessary equipment you need as a doctor to treat your patients properly -- and suppose you had to submit to more training practically every year of your career to stay abreast of new treatments, new equipment, and new federal and state laws pertaining to your practice of medicine.

Just suppose you did all of the above and then wake up one morning to find that you were no longer a private physician, no longer a small business owner, no longer your own boss, but a government apparatchik taking orders on how to practice medicine, how and with which government approved treatment plan you are allowed to treat your trusting patients.   What would YOU do?

Well, according to a recent survey, 46 percent of the Primary Care doctors practicing medicine in America today said they WOULD quit when Obamacare becomes the law of the land… and I do not blame them one bit!  The New England Journal of Medicine reported in its March-April 2010 issue that 46.3% of Primary Care Physicians would likely leave the practice of medicine if Obamacare was passed into law.

With a large shortage in Primary Care doctors causing problems in America today and half of the remaining P. C. doctors vowing to quit – do you still believe the myth, no, let’s call it what it is, the LIE, the Obama Administration fed to gullible Americans that there would be no healthcare rationing in America.  It was BS all along… and Obama and his minions knew it then -- and they know it now!

Face it people, you/we have been had – again!  Obama LIED to you/us. The socialist (sometimes referred to as democrats -- but more often these days the more accurate term is – socialists) lied to you/us!

The whole Obamacare package is a lie from start to finish!  It is the biggest swindle ever perpetrated on a nation anywhere, anytime.     America has been SCREWED!

You know, we have come to expect politicians to lie, but for goodness sakes, dear reader, the Obama Regime has become a nest of pathological liars.

Look, America blundered, big time, back in 2008 when they elected Obama as President then doubled-down in 2012 with his reelection.  I suppose one ci;d say we deserve what we get, huh?

The folks in Europe may just LOVE him, but here in America, he is fast becoming one of the least respected Presidents ever -- worse, even, than Jimmy Carter OR Bill Clinton (Clinton was Impeached!)  I am convinced he is a socialist.  I mean:  If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and flocks with other socialist, then it is most likely, a duck/socialist.

Obamacare is destined to ruin the American healthcare system.  With the current HUGE shortage in doctors, especially General Practitioners, plus the 46%, or so, of currently practicing doctors about to quit – where will the doctors come from to work in the Obamacare system as government apparatchiks?   How many scholars, who had been considering medicine as a career, will look elsewhere for a profession not yet tainted by the mailed fist of the federal government, thereby maintaining the doctor shortage?

We must ask if the US government is considering bringing in doctors from abroad, doctors who may, or may not, have been trained up to the standards required of doctors practicing medicine in the US?  Will he activate military reserve medics and doctors and place them in civilian hospitals and government clinics?  Hey, the doctors have to come from somewhere?

We already expect to find, manning the front lines in doctor’s offices, Physician’s Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. My state is even considering allowing Nurse Practitioners to use the title of “Doctor.”

America is in serious trouble.  The depth of that trouble is, as yet, unfathomable.

CRTC Hangs Up On Cell Phone Rippoffs By Cell Phone Companies

CRTC Hangs Up On Cell Phone Rippoffs By Cell Phone Companies
The CRTC released its much-anticipated consumer wireless code this morning. While much of the code remains unchanged from an earlier draft proposal, the headline-grabbing change is that the Commission has effectively brought three-year contracts to an end. The issue of contract length was the top issue raised by consumers, who argued that Canadian wireless contracts were longer than most other countries and that they represented a significant barrier to effective competition.
While the incumbent wireless carriers argued that consumers like three-year contracts, the CRTC sided with consumers. Effective December 2, 2013, consumers will be allowed to terminate their wireless contracts after two years with no cancellation fees. The ability to cancel with no further costs should result in two years becoming the standard for a long-term wireless contract. It will be interesting to see how quickly the carriers implement this change as smart consumers may decide to delay signing new contracts unless they are protected by the new wireless code if the carriers insist on retaining early cancellation fees in the final year of a three-year contract until the code takes effect.
The wireless code includes several other notable features. The CRTC has established mandatory caps on data roaming and data fees to avoid the bill shock that sometimes seems to hit Canadians who unexpectedly run up huge roaming fees. The caps will be set at $100 for data roaming (both national and international) and at $50 for data overage fees. Fees can only exceed these amounts if the consumer expressly consents to it.
The CRTC has also established a mandatory unlocking requirement for devices. Carriers must offer consumers the ability to unlock unsubsidized devices (i.e.: devices purchased at full price) at any time. For subsidized devices, carriers can implement a 90-day waiting period. Note that there is no cap on the cost for unlocking (which currently varies widely), though carriers are required to disclose the cost at the time the contract is signed. The remainder of the code includes return rights that allow for 15-day trials of new devices, plain language requirements, and early cancellation fees (earlier than two years).
The code is a definite improvement over the earlier draft version. At that time, I argued that the draft disappointed since it did little to address the major concerns involving contract length, roaming fees, and device locking. I thought the Commission could have been bolder with mandatory unlocking of phones at no cost, limits on roaming fees, and two year maximum contracts. The final code moves in this direction with the ability to opt-out of contracts at no cost after two years. That will be the most obvious and dramatic change to the Canadian wireless landscape once the code takes effect late this year.
The code also represents a major policy loss for the incumbent carriers. As recently as 2006, wireless protections were viewed as an impossibility. As consumer frustration mounted, the CWTA established a weak voluntary code in 2009 with no expectation of government enforcement. Yet that did little to stem the tide and once the provinces began establishing their own consumer protection laws for wireless services in 2010, the CWTA called for a single national code and fought to retain three year contracts (the new entrants left the CWTA in part over the issue). The CRTC has obliged with a code that goes beyond the provincial requirements on contract length and undoubtedly beyond what the carriers thought would result when the process started in 2012.

I told you that weekend was going to be a killer! Sorry for my MIA-ness on Monday but mamma was beat.

The good news is the weekend was a success. I had three great new client meetings and finished up a rather large article for St. Louis At Home Magazine that the hubs called 'the term paper'.

The bad news is now I've got another list of looming deadlines. You know when you've been working on something for a long time and you feel like you're in good shape, but then that thing that seemed like it was weeks away is suddenly around the corner and you feel totally unprepared? That would be me.

We are hosting my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party at my house next weekend (which is going to be awesome) and I suddenly feel very behind.

So please bear with me over the next few days as I might be a bit patchy with my posts. I promise tons of good DIYs and pretty pictures post party though, so it will be worth it. Cross my heart.

In the meantime, I've got two great deals you should check out.

My friend Mary Ann at classic. casual. home. is having a one of a kind giveaway and shopping opportunity for a great cause. Please go check it out - you will be able to help the widowed women of Uganda and find great jewelry all at the same time.

Also, my girls at Indie Mats are having a week full of great deals. Today its a buy one get one free that you don't want to miss. Check it out.

Now I'm off to do some more weeding and a little power washing. If only I could power wash the weeds, I'd kill two birds with one stone. Hmmm.

Have a great day!

Insanity in Two Flavors...

Speaking of INSANITY...

A judge on Tuesday accepted James' Holmes plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, setting the stage for a lengthy mental evaluation of the Colorado theater shooting suspect.

Holmes is accused of opening fire in a packed Denver-area movie theater last summer, killing 12 people and injuring 70. He is charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

The mental evaluation could take months. {Read More}

The Enamored of ObamaCare and the Democratic Party Emerging 2014 Campain Srategy...

For sure the healthcare system in America has been in need of serious overhaul for sometime. One should give the President credit for tackling the system that is both expensive for those who's company does not provide health insurance. Which often results in many being uncovered due to the EXCEEDINGLY HIGH cost for private health insurance. Something I know a bit about having had to use COBRA coverage as my company continued on a ten year "rightsizing", which of course was in the name to remain competitive and thereby lose the fewest jobs possible. Net job loss over ten years; 1300 jobs. The wave of the future methinks.

Back to the point of the post. Many are enamored of ObamaCare and have been sold on how it will improve, if not solve our present healthcare nightmare. However, the truth is ObamaCare while having some positive benefits. mostly for the lower economic strata also carries with it some serious negatives. Interesting;y enough the plan was essentially crafted by the health insurance and drug industry lobbyists. That, in and of itself should scare the hell out of people.

Something certainly needs to be done. However, ObamaCare is not the answer as it is nothing more than a juggling of the current system with some added safeguards for the poor or indigent. Many which already exist today and are covered by tax dollars. What we need is a market based healthcare system which allows for open competition and is regulated to the degree that uncontrolled profiteering by insurance companies and big pharmaceuticals are controlled and capped. While profit is a VERY important consideration the pursuit of ever higher profit margins should not trump affordable healthcare for American citizens. Perhaps America ought to collaborate with countries who have a better healthcare system the the USA and adopt what has been shown to work.

Perhaps it is time for the USA to get down from it's lofty perch believing everything American is always the best and start looking at what may really be the best.

POLITICO - Scarred by years of Republican attacks over Obamacare, with more in store next year, Democrats have settled on an unlikely strategy for the 2014 midterms: Bring it on.

Party strategists believe that embracing the polarizing law — especially its more popular elements — is smarter politics than fleeing from it in the House elections. The new tack is a marked shift from 2010, when Republicans pointed to Obamacare as Exhibit A of Big Government run amok on their way to seizing the House from Democrats.

But the Democratic bear hug, reflecting a calculation it’s probably impossible to shed their association with the law even if they wanted to, is still a high-wire public relations act. The White House has consistently struggled with messaging on Obamacare, hoping the public would gain an appreciation for the health care makeover as its benefits became apparent. That never really happened, but Democrats seem to be banking that it finally will.

The strategy will be put to the test as the law kicks in next year and is implemented in the months leading up to the election — with the inevitable snafus and critical media coverage as the public gets its first up-close view of the massive undertaking.

California Rep. Scott Peters, a freshman Democrat who narrowly won election last year, said he doesn’t agree with every part of the law. But he said he’s not afraid of addressing health care — far from it.

“I don’t have any problem talking about it,” Peters, who hails from a San Diego-area swing district, said in an interview. “I think it’s a big issue. I think it’s going to be talked about more than immigration or guns.”

One early sign of the shift: After House Republicans brought a health care repeal measure to the floor last month — the 37th time they’ve tried — Peters joined a cast of other Democratic incumbents from competitive districts to criticize the GOP for the maneuver.

In 2010, Democratic congressional candidates in tough races actively promoted their opposition to the just-passed law, in some cases running ads blasting it. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee privately instructed members and candidates to change the subject if they were asked about the health care law in town hall meetings or on the campaign trail. {Read More}

Opportunity knocks: the IRS and the tax code badly in need of repair

Opportunity knocks: the IRS and the tax code badly in need of repair

Good things sometimes result after bad things happen. The growing revelations of wrongdoing at the Internal Revenue Service dramatically illustrate the agency's devolution into near anarchy, and this ought to lead to an operational revolution. It ought to also lead to something else that needs to be done, and has needed to be done for a long, long time: overhauling the current tax system.

An organization known as CCH has tracked the growth of the tax code from 1913 when it was only 400 pages to 2012 when it was 73,608 pages.

An Associated Press story noted, "At nearly 4 million words, the US tax law is so thick and complicated that businesses and individuals spend more than 6 billion hours a year complying with filing requirements, according to a report Wednesday by an independent government watchdog. That’s the equivalent of 3 million people working full-time, year-round."

“This report confirms that the code is 10 times the size of the Bible with none of the good news,” said Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), chairman of the House and Ways and Means Committee. “Our broken tax code has become a nightmare of loopholes and special interest provisions that create added complexities and costs for hardworking taxpayers and small businesses.”

“If tax compliance were an industry, it would be one of the largest in the United States,” according to Nina E. Olson, the National Taxpayer Advocate. She said that since 2001, Congress has made an average of more than one change a day to tax law, nearly 5,000 in all.

The tax code is a chaotic mess that no one can comprehend. So, replace it with something much simpler that can be easily understood, and doesn't require 100,000 federal bureaucrats, some of whom cannot control the urge to persecute the people they work for.

Without going into great detail, there are two sensible approaches that would vastly improve the tax system. Both have advantages and disadvantages, but both the Flat Tax and the Fair Tax are far superior to the 73,000 page monstrosity we now suffer under. Even substantially lowering tax rates and reducing deductions and loopholes in the current system would improve things.

It has never made any sense to tax people's productivity, particularly when so many are excluded from paying any tax at all. Those who have no skin in the game thus don't mind raising taxes on the people that pay the freight for them.

Taxing what people spend, on the other hand, puts everyone in the game to the extent that they buy stuff subject to taxation, excluding food, medicine, medical care, and perhaps a very few other things from the tax, while protecting charitable contributions, and move ahead with replacing our asinine tax code with something that makes sense, and is immune from malfeasant bureaucrats and politicians. Then, when Congress wants to raise the consumption tax from, say, 10 percent to 12 percent instead of being frugal, nearly everyone will have a reason to care.

The current system enables politicians trying to make political hay to demonize corporations or the wealthy by criticizing the way they pay or don't pay taxes. The most recent example of this manufactured "moral outrage" concerns Apple, Inc., which earns money in the US as well as in foreign countries. Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.), has leapt to the front of the bandwagon to condemn Apple, which paid nearly $6 billion to the federal treasury in 2012 on money earned in the US, but keeps money earned overseas out of the US due to the high corporate tax rate. But Apple does only what the tax code allows or encourages it to do.

America's corporate tax rate, which at 35 percent is one of the highest in the world, literally drives corporations to keep money overseas that otherwise could be brought here to produce jobs, and be taxed here, if Congress wasn't so greedy. Rather than make an honest effort to fix that problem, Sen. Levin foolishly prefers to label Apple a "tax dodger."

Many Americans agree with him. Those who think corporations are misbehaving by using provisions of the tax code to pay less tax should do a little personal reflection. Anyone who has ever taken a deduction for mortgage interest or other adjustment to earned income is just as guilty of being a tax dodger as Apple.

Managers and employees who lack character and integrity have fatally soiled the IRS. It has violated the most sacred tenet of American government: to honorably serve its citizens. At the very least it must be overhauled and slashed in size and power, but better yet, let's rid ourselves of the need for an agency like the IRS.

A final thought: The Affordable Care Act is a 2,700-page bill hatched in the dark of night by one political party, passed on a partisan vote by elected representatives who had not read the bill, controls 14 percent of the private economy, opens private medical data of every American to government scrutiny, and will be controlled by 16,000 new IRS employees. What could possible go wrong?

THE FLAG CODE Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10 As amended by P.L. 344, 94th Congress Approved July 7, 1976
§ 176. Respect for flag:

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down,
except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

**************
I mention the flag code above to note that a friend has recently flown the US flag outside his business upside down.  When asked why, by customers and curious travelers on the busy highway just outside his store, he explained that it was a sign of distress.  He continued that with Obama and his fellow Marxists and Socialists in charge of the US government, America is, indeed, in serious distress!

Americans have a long and storied history of rising to the occasion when the nation is in jeopardy. I was born before the Second World War and I must tell you that, in my opinion, the nation is in more jeopardy, this very moment, than it has been since even BEFORE WWII.

Our government is dragging at least half the nation's population, kicking and screaming, into SOCIALISM, which is, as we know, only one small step away from COMMUNISM. The nation is in serious trouble and I don't mean from businesses going belly-up.

Until January 20th of 2009, this nation was a capitalist nation. In a capitalist nation business is the bedrock of the society. Consumers decide which businesses live and which businesses die. Not the government! The Socialist way is for the government to decide, for the consumer, which businesses live and which don't.

The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines Socialism as follows:

Main Entry: so·cial·ism
Pronunciation:
\ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\
Function: noun
Date: 1837

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property
b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

If you find you cannot take my word for it, can you take the word of this renowned dictionary?

So... what to do? First we have to accept that the America we knew, the America that dates back to even before the year 1776, is GONE! We also have to accept the fact that the US Constitution is being ignored. Soon with a turnover of Justices on the Supreme Court the Judiciary branch of the government will join the Executive and Legislative branches as a socialist entity and the transformation will be complete.

If we continue to tell ourselves that we only have to wait until 2016, or the next round of elections for Congress in 2014, we can change the government back to a democratic representative republic as The Founders intended, then we are setting ourselves up for total defeat.

By 2016 the country can and probably will be in such dire straits, financially, that the government can declare a national emergency and "postpone" the election. I would not put it past the bunch in control of our government, currently, to do just that. Once your right to vote is rescinded, what do you do then? Time is not on the side of those who wish to reinstate a representative republic in America.

The Republican Party cannot be counted on to do whatever is necessary to retard the socialist stranglehold on America. As a "recovering registered republican" (now an Independent) it gives me great pain to acknowledge this fact. But, there it is!

Soon, the socialist government of the US will be coming after the Internet, especially conservative bloggers. You can be sure they are burning the midnight oil searching for ways to shut us up even as I write these words.

Paranoia, you say? Well, "when an entire government is after you, paranoia is just damned good thinking!"

We must begin NOW. We cannot wait. As I said above... time is not on our side.

May God Save America!

It ain't going anywhere... But the flat tax? An idea whose time should have come a long time ago. However, in the trenches of class warfare, where the evils of capitalism and rational self interest are the twin evils it is understandable why it hasn't. IMNHO anyway.

Obama goes where no president has gone before

Obama goes where no president has gone before

Obama goes where no president has gone before

Depravity will be the signature achievement of the Obama Administration, once its history is finally written. Obama’s clarion call to teenagers that fornication is acceptable, even if children are under 15 years of age, should have been a wake-up call to every parent in America. Worse, he gave these children a way out if a pregnancy occurs, over-the-counter birth control. When the latter means fails, no problem, abortion on demand will be available on request. Parental consent, not any more, Obama’s programs allow the government to intercede in many cases.  Obama’s devilish work does not stop with childhood fornication, his push to have the gay agenda fully accepted by society continues unabated. From the military and marriage to school curriculums and now the Boy Scouts homosexuality is being forced on a population that would rather see this disgusting behavior back in the closet. Military has seen an exponential jump in the number cases of sexual harassment in the last few years, after Obama gave his blessing to an openly gay armed forces. He forgot to ask the soldiers how they feel about sleeping, bathing and living in close quarters with openly gay individuals. Obama’s intent to enable the “gay establishment” to make homosexual marriage as acceptable as the traditional version displays his profound level of deviance from the normal course of human thinking. School systems are slowly implementing curriculums that explore the gay lifestyle, backed by funds from Uncle Obama. This filth is not limited to the upper grades, impressionable minds in lower schools are being introduced to the “new norm” as well. With a complaisant Department of Justice at his backside Obama and the gay gang’s next stop was the Boy Scouts of America. Much consideration went into the Scouts recent decision to allow openly gay children into their ranks, most of it from fear of lawsuits. Yet, the gay crowd is not fully happy with this decision. They aspire to have gay Scout leaders leading these packs of children. Time will soon come when the Boy Scouts of America disbands, because the majority of normal parents do not want their children exposed to such trash. Obama’s attack on the fundamentals of religion and traditional society comes on the heels of a push to move atheism into the forefront of religious thought. In this case, Obama’s moves imbue our culture with a sense of worthlessness. His policies and programs turn the population away from the elements it needs most, a belief in a higher power and the organizational structure implemented by that power. Moral decay and social stagnation were two reasons why Rome fell, America appears to be heading in the same direction. Obama’s deviances need to be checked or America will become Sodom and Gomorrah on steroids.
