Marco Rubio and Unrelated Issues, His Lack Of Understanding With Respect To Rational Self (and National) Interest...

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)

I am getting more amused every day by the loonies that constitute the Tea Party faction of the Republican Party. Being an advocates of exercising rational self interest in all thing I cannot help by marvel at Senator Marco Rubio's remarks on FOX News this Sunday. Certainly his remarks don't sound much like concern for rational self interest. Of course this is based on the belief comprehensive immigration reform is in everyone's rational self interest.

But maybe it's just me.

Via Memeorandum.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) suggested on Sunday that President Obama’s refusal to compromise with Republicans on Obamacare to re-open the government and raise the nation’s debt ceiling has jeopardized the chances of passing comprehensive immigration reform.

“I think immigration reform is harder to achieve today an it was three weeks ago because of what happened here,” the first-term senator said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, before agreeing with opponents of immigration reform who warn that that the Obama administration will simply fail to enforce border security or other aspects of a bill he disagrees with.

“The president has undermined this effort, absolutely, because of the way he has behaved over the last three weeks,” Rubio added. “This notion that they’re going to get in a room and negotiate a deal with the president on immigration is much more difficult to do…because of the way the president has behaved towards his opponents over the last three weeks.” {Read More}

This sounds more like sour grapes and a United States Senator acting like a spoiled child than it does looking out four our nations rational self interests.

Marco Rubio’s fraudulent immigration bill is nothing more than a series of false assertions that hide the truth of this pending legislation. Rubio has been all over the media with interviews, commercials and ads purporting immigration reform is a moral imperative. On close examination of his words, they are nothing but a series of misrepresentations and outright lies. His claim that illegals will not receive federal entitlements if legalized is a sham. Most entitlements are managed by state political machinery not on the federal level. Presently millions of our friends from south of the border partake in these goodies and that will continue under his immigration disaster. With few exceptions for those with criminal backgrounds, all those illicitly in America are welcome under his plan. Rubio wants to bring his illicit comrades out of the shadows so they will eventually become taxpaying members of this society. The truth is once legalized the Democratic Party will have tens of millions of new voters, guaranteeing the left stays in power for decades to come. Border security was never his or the “Gang of Eight’s” top priority. Instead, Rubio and his collaborators buried the most important element of immigration reform deep in this fraudulent legislative effort, legalizing illegals first then finding solutions for border security later. Rubio has been flooded with negative fanfare concerning his border security stance. His first response was the fines from illegals, on the path to citizenship, would help pay for a secured border. When that crock of nonsense didn’t fly, the Gang of Eight derived a 30 billion dollar scheme to enhance border security. This waste of taxpayer funds comes with one caveat, the Executive Branch will be left in charge of these funds, therefore nothing will change on the border. One lie after the next from this once rising star in the Republican Party. Immigration reform may not be dead. Yet, the scent of this decaying legislative effort has been sensed by tens of millions, who know when they are being scammed. Rubio may intend to run for President. The question is: in which party? Americans should get ready for the newest affliction from Washington D.C. This time it is in the form of immigration legislation. As porous as our borders are presently, this monstrous legislation will enable a deluge of immigrants to flow into this country. Marco Rubio, a Republican Senator from the Great State of Florida, is spearheading the push to move this legislation forward. Commercials have already appeared noting this legislation as a cure-all to all the prior failed immigration laws and policies that preceded it. Three decades ago one of our best presidents, Ronald Reagan, made a concerted effort to stem the flow of illegals from south of the border, it failed. Since then a hodge-podge of remedies have been attempted to bring sanity to the immigration process. They also failed. Senator Rubio has been all over the media touting the virtues of his program that disadvantages American citizens over their illegal counterparts. A version of this pending legislation is revised weekly to keep current with its critics’ analysis. Volumetrically, this bill contains 867 pages with references to more waivers, exemptions and exceptions per page than its big brother, Obamacare. For complexity it contains a dazzling array of tenets that could baffle the most rational mind. With such a variety of paths to by-pass the restrictions in the core bill, one can only extrapolate that it was deviously prepared this way for a reason. According to reports, Rubio claims border control will improve, more sensible approaches to the illegals already on our soil will come into being and future arrivals will be given an easier path to citizenship. From closer inspection of this newest offering from Congress, the antithesis will occur. Illegals will be able to bring their families here with much less effort than before, potentially doubling and or tripling their present numbers. Management of the borders are taken out of the hands of those who perform these heroic actions, and given over to government lackeys to do as they choose. We are told by Rubio that; entitlements will not be available to illegals, that fines will be paid by those who have trespassed on our soil and this illicit populous will be able to stay in this nation with multiple conditions of their heads. Once you absorb this surrealistic presentation, a normal mind would come to the same conclusion as his or her  brethren, that Rubio is full of chicken feathers. This monster should not pass either house of Congress or anywhere near yours. Trillions is the price tag for a legislation that is doomed to fail like its predecessors. Conservative media voices are already lining up to support this egregious bill without understanding its true nature. In the event there is any sensibility left in Congress, this legislation, in its present form, should be defeated and buried in the landfill from which it originated. Rubio is being disingenuous with the American Public concerning the contents of his legislative initiative. As a result, his political career will suffer tremedously. His elementary approach to this complex issue displays he is not ready for primetime. Mark Davis, MD, President of Healthnets Review Services, www.healthnetsreviewservices.com. platomd@gmail.com. Marco Rubio when asked if homosexuality is a sin handled the question like a real professional politician. While saying his faith considers it a sin he went on to say there are a whole bunch of other sins as well. I guess an affirmative but without actually saying the words "I consider it a sin", or answering simply "yes." He added that from a policy position while his faith informs him on decisions he doesn't go around pointing fingers.

... "I can tell you what faith teaches, and faith teaches that it is. And that's what the Bible teaches ... but it also teaches that there are a bunch of other sins that are no less. It teaches that lying is a sin, it teaches that disrespecting your parents is a sin, it teaches that stealing is a sin, it teaches that coveting your neighbor and what your neighbor has is a sin," Rubio said. "So, there isn't a person in this room that isn't guilty of sin. I don't go around pointing fingers in that regard."

On a personal level, he said, "I'm responsible for my salvation, and I'm responsible for my family's and for inculcating in my family what our faith teaches. And then they'll become adults and decide how they want to apply that in life."

Regarding his choices as a lawmaker or, presumably, candidate for other office, Rubio said, "As a policymaker, I can just tell you that I'm informed by my faith and my faith informs me in who I am as a person. But not as a way to pass judgment on people."

Rubio, who gave a speech at this year's Republican National Convention on the same night Mitt Romney accepted his party's nomination, often is considered a possible contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination — giving his remarks further importance than they might otherwise have.

Rubio has a mixed voting record on LGBT issues in his short time in Congress, having received a 47% ranking from the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBT rights group, in this Congress. Beyond his votes, he has opposed same-sex couples' marriage rights and recently recorded a call in support of the National Organization for Marriage's election efforts in 2012.

Of his Wednesday comments, though, HRC Vice President for Communications Fred Sainz said, "It's a shame that Senator Rubio falls outside the mainstream of the majority of people of faith who view supporting equality for LGBT people as an extension of their faith. ... {Read More}

It would have been refreshing if Rubio had simply said no and let it go at that. But of course preserving the support of the socons is all important in a rEpublican party that seems sometime to be informed more by faith than by reality or reason.
