best of pinterest - living and dining rooms

So going through my living room and dining room Pinterest boards made me realize that there is no way I could choose just one single style for either room. They are just too full of possibilities.

For the dining room we've got to have a big round table and super killer chairs. Duh.

I like the idea of books in the dining room. More of a library where they allow food, sort of.

OK, this one isn't a round table, but its good.

The living room, like the rest of the house will have tall ceilings, lots of beautiful moldings and big huge windows.

And many french doors out to the huge porch.

CoCo is really good at cleaning windows.

And he makes a mean cocktail.

I don't think I even scratched the surface really. There is no way I could narrow it down. That's it, I'm just going to have to have several living rooms and dining rooms.

What about you? Do you have a style you dream about but don't have in your own home? Any feature you would add to a space if the sky was the limit? Want CoCo to make you a G&T for the afternoon?

Obama And The Manure Spreader ... J. D. Longstreet

Obama And The Manure Spreader

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

****************
"For decades, a so-called anti-propaganda law prevented the U.S. government's mammoth broadcasting arm from delivering programming to American audiences. But on July 2, that came silently to an end with the implementation of a new reform passed in January. The result: an unleashing of thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption in a reform initially criticized as a green light for U.S. domestic propaganda efforts. So what just happened?"   SOURCE:  http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/07/12/us_backs_off_propaganda_ban_spreads_government_made_news_to_americans

If you have ever wondered what would happen if you threw a truck load of cow manure into a fertilizer spreader,  you're about to find out!

It would seem that, finally, the Obama Administration has concluded that Americans are sufficiently stupid enough that they can now be plied with taxpayer funded lies gussied-up to appear as truthful messages from a "caring government" sometimes referred to as ... Aunt Nanna.

The Obama Regime has decided we are dumb enough that we won't even notice that we are being manipulated by the machinations of dark forces within a government gone rogue.

As if that were not scary enough, after a bit of soul searching, I have concluded Obama is right.   I think we HAVE become just that stupid.

Once again, we warn that the US is beginning to favor the old USSR more and more, every day, under the Obama Regime.  Until NOW the people of the US have not had to bear-up under the strain of government sponsored propaganda broadcasts. In the Old USSR it was common practice.  In nearly all Marxist countries it is standard practice. Now that the US has adopted Marxism, under Obama's guidance and tutorship,  it will now be a part of every American's daily brain training by the government.

Until now, it was flat-out illegal to broadcast government propaganda in the US.  No longer.

"Until this month, a vast ocean of U.S. programming produced by the Broadcasting Board of Governors such as Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks could only be viewed or listened to at broadcast quality in foreign countries. The programming varies in tone and quality, but its breadth is vast: It's viewed in more than 100 countries in 61 languages. The topics covered include human rights abuses in Iran; self-immolation in Tibet; human trafficking across Asia; and on-the-ground reporting in Egypt and Iraq."  SOURCE:  http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/07/12/us_backs_off_propaganda_ban_spreads_government_made_news_to_americans

For most Americans, I suspect the "BBG" is a completely unheard of organization.  Heck, I spent thirty years in the broadcasting industry and I rarely, if ever, heard their name brought up.

Back in the day --you know -- back before America became stupid and people actually paid attention to things outside their thirty inches of personal space, folks had heard of entities such as: Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty, Middle East Broadcasting networks (including Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), Radio Free Asia, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting better known, at least among the domestic broadcasting community, as "Radio Marti."

The BBG became an independent, autonomous entity on October 1, 1999, as a result of the Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998 (Pub.L. 105–277). BBG had 3,200 employees and a budget of US$535 million in 2002.  SOURCE:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcasting_Board_of_Governors

The 2012 budget request from BBG was $767 million.

"According to a series of reports beginning in 2004 and generated by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the BBG has struggled to live up to its mission. For instance, GAO highlighted a structural issue of the BBG in a 2004 report claiming that "organizationally, the existence of five separate broadcast entities has led to overlapping language services, duplication of program content, redundant news gathering and support services, and difficulties coordinating broadcast efforts."[10] The report also added that "marketing challenges include outmoded program formats, poor signal delivery, and low audience awareness in many markets." [10]

In April 2010, Senator Tom Coburn held up the appointments of the Obama administration, with the aim of drawing attention to the organization's perceived ineffectiveness, stating in an interview: "The BBG is the most worthless organization in the federal government. It's full of people who know nothing about media or foreign policy."[2] Senator Jim DeMint also attempted to use the nominations to force a hearing on the BBG, after frustrations with a perceived lack of congressional oversight over the organization.[2] Coburn had written an open letter to then-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in August 2010 citing "longstanding concerns regarding transparency and effectiveness of our taxpayer funded international broadcasting agencies under the purview of the Broadcasting Board of Governors."

Understand:  We are talking about the US government feeding propaganda to the American people.  Understand, too, that propaganda is information (or misinformation) that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause, some action (or even some inaction) the government favors.  It is pure manipulation of the masses often described as "brain washing."  In the months and years ahead look for it anywhere as political propaganda (especially Marxist propaganda) can be, and often is, communicated via art, literature, and the movies.

Just a few years ago, I would not be so troubled by this announcement.  Now, however,

with the American public having been dumbed-down by decades of government indoctrination in the so-called public education system, It is certainly conceivable that propaganda could (and I am now convinced -- WILL) be a very effective tool for the government to use to continue to shred the constitution and the rights guaranteed to the American people by it.

The inability to discern the difference between government propaganda and the truth will have dire consequences for freedom in America. In rather short order Americans will no longer know WHOM to believe and the more discerning among us will choose to believe no one!

If you have not done so already, then we advise you to dust off your "BS Meter", calibrate it, and prepare for the tsunami of Bovine Scatology coming your way from those wonderful people who brought you Obamacare.

Where Are the Certificate of Deposit Vigilantes?

We always hear about the bond vigilantes and how they are destined to arrive at any moment. However, as seen in the chart above, the certificate of deposit vigilantes are nowhere to be seen. Why do you suppose that is?

The following chart shows how much more the typical certificate of deposit "vigilante" could earn if they'd simply buy 5-year treasuries directly from the government instead of buying the typical 5-year CD from their local bank. As an added bonus, they wouldn't even need to worry about FDIC insurance.

I participated in February 2011's treasury giveaway, much to the dismay of Jeremy Siegel. No complaints on that one so far. I also participated in June 2013's treasury giveaway (using interest from my purchase in 2011). No complaints on that one either.

I bought intending to hold to maturity. That is still the plan. Meanwhile, investors panic out of bond funds and into cash the instant interest rates go up? I can't really explain it. I guess many don't enjoy earning more interest. Need proof? Can we not see the willingness of savers to accept a mere 0.5% rate on 5-year CDs?

That said, I'm not at all advocating the purchase of a 5-year treasury. For what it is worth, I went out a heck of a lot further on that steep yield curve. Unlike many, I do not believe that this economy can support high real yields either now or well into the distant future. It has there for been my plan to lock real yields in whenever I could and I have been doing so since 2000 (the year I bought my first I-Bond).

This is not investment advice. It's just the opinion of a random anonymous blogger on the Internet. Take it for what it is worth.

The Attorney General telegraphing what the ultimate decision by the Justice Department is to be?

Thinly veiled code words for racism throughout the "esteemed" Attorney General's remarks.

The Text - The death of 17-year-old African-American Trayvon Martin, and the subsequent trial of the man who shot him, George Zimmerman, brought back some sore memories for the U.S. attorney general.

"They brought me back to a number of experiences I had as a young man," Attorney General Eric Holder told the NAACP at their annual convention in Orlando Tuesday. "When I was pulled over twice and my car searched on the New Jersey Turnpike when I'm sure I wasn't speeding, or when I was stopped by a police officer while simply running to a catch a movie, at night in Georgetown, in Washington, D.C."

The shooting, meanwhile, inspired personal comments from President Obama as well. "You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," the president said last year. {Read More}

UPDATE: via WESH

SANFORD, Fla. —A hold was placed Thursday on all evidence related to the death of Trayvon Martin.

It's another indication that federal investigators are not done with the George Zimmerman case, despite a jury's not guilty verdict.

Department of Justice investigators are looking into whether Zimmerman violated Martin's civil right.

Martin was shot to death in the Sanford townhouse complex where his father lived. Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watchman, said the shooting was self defense. A jury found Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder.

Among the evidence is Zimmerman's handgun. Defense attorney Mark O'Mara said he thinks it would be best for the gun to be destroyed.

All of the evidence is now being held by the Sanford Police Department.

O'Mara said the investigation has been ongoing and that no evidence Zimmerman of racial bias has been found.

Meanwhile, O'Mara said he is mulling his own federal case against prosecutors. He said they withheld information that was important to the trial.

Missing Wisconsin 2-year-old Toddler Found Dead In Vehicle Trunk

Isaiah Theis

Toddler's body was found inside a locked vehicle trunk near his home.

By H. Nelson Goodson
July 18, 2013

Balsam Lake, WI - On Wednesday, the body of Isaiah Theis, 2, was discovered inside a locked vehicle trunk by a deputy around 10:15 p.m., according to Polk County Sheriff Peter Johnson. Johnson said, it's to early to speculate about the toddler's death.
Theis was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday by his mother after he was last seen playing with his 5-year-old brother. More than 2,300 people volunteered to search a wooded area and fields in western Wisconsin near Centuria where Theis's was reported missing. The temperature on Wednesday climbed to 91 degrees and was a very humid day.
The same vehicle was inspected earlier, but the trunk was never opened until Wednesday night, shortly after the search ended for the night. Sheriff Johnson told media outlets to wait for the autopsy report before speculating about the toddler's death.
The vehicle had been kept locked and authorities are trying to determine how the toddler's body ended up in the trunk.
Foul play has not been ruled out pending the autopsy report.

Juries Don't "Do" Emotion ... J. D. Longstreet

Juries Don't "Do" Emotion ... J. D. Longstreet
Juries Don't "Do" Emotion
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

*******************

We have often stated that liberalism is based on pure, raw, emotion. And it is.  There is very little reasoned, common sense, reckoning taking place in the mindless mobs spreading anarchy around the US in the name of justice for Trayvon.

Their continued calls for "justice" only underlines their ignorance of the judicial system.

See, JUSTICE is what they got.  They did not get a jury's knee-jerk reaction to emotion. They got justice. And they HATE IT!

Ever wonder why most depictions of Lady Justice have her blind-folded?  It is so justice doesn't get caught up in the emotion swirling about the event she is asked to rule upon.

Look.  Justice cannot be found in a sea of raw emotion. It cannot survive in that environment.  Emotion is what drives the human animal to insanity, temporary insanity all the way to permanent insanity. Mentally, we cycle back in time to our days living in caves.

The mobs on our streets today are exhibiting the kind of behavior sparked by emotion that our early ancestors, the cavemen and cave women, would recognize instantly as a behavior employed by them to attain a goal, which might include securing dinner -- or -- punishing a member of the clan for breaking a clan rule, or some such.

It is brutish, uncivilized, uncouth, barbarian,
(and dare we say it?) childish behavior. It simply underscores everything the civilized population already believes about those involving themselves in such exhibits of the bizarre.

Nevertheless, it is what it is.

However, those of us who live in the sane world must not underestimate the danger presented by such mindless activity.  There is hardly a more dangerous beast than a mob.  At some point, if the mob-fever does not subside and (at least) near-sanity returns,  then, as with any rabid animal, it must be put down.

There is glaring irony in observing that those who have for generations railed against the lynching of members of their race, have, themselves, now become a lynch mob.

Civilized societies have rules, sets of rules, they have decided upon to govern the behavior of their particular society.  It is the ONLY way a civilized society can exist.  It is within this framework that the core of any society, the family, can exist and, hopefully, thrive.

But the agreed upon rules must apply to ALL members of that society -- that means every last one.

Cherry picking the rules we will enforce, and the rules we will NOT enforce, will quickly bring down the entire structure of a society.

Just as dangerous to the continued existence of ANY society is the refusal to accept the consequences of an applied rule when those consequences are unsatisfactory to a large portion of that society.

Our society, our republic, the United States of America, is in grave danger today.  Over the past few years we have decided to try living our lives without the constraints on the government presented by the constitution.  Too, we have adopted the philosophy of moral relativism, in which there is no absolute right and no absolute wrong.  We call it political correctness.

See, we Americans have dipped our toe into the Marxist river and, unfortunately,  a huge portion of our society (many of our leaders) has elected to baptize themselves in that river -- by total immersion -- and climb back onto the bank as avowed Marxists/communists.

These ARE perilous times.  Yes.  Thomas Paine WOULD feel right at home if he could survey -- and feel -- the weight of the government's yoke on the descendents of his fellow colonists today.

Yes, dear reader, I am aware that I am preaching to the choir with these few words.  It is sadly unfortunate -- but it is true -- that so many who might actually profit from the words here written cannot read them.

Look around you. Observe the vandals at work across America today.  They are the "useful idiots" rampaging in our streets as they do the biding of their modern day slave masters.   See, many of their number have never left the plantation. They only moved onto another plantation, this one overseen by a slave master whose skin color matches that of their own.

Human animals, engorged with emotional rage, are fairly easily maneuvered in the direction their master wants them to go.

Anytime you observe a mob doing something that would require a decent amount of planning or preparation, you can be assured that THAT mob is being controlled, directed, handled, by an entity far more intelligent than the cumulative IQ of the entire mob.

Edgar Allan Poe once said:  "The nose of a mob is its imagination. By this, at any time, it can be quietly led."

I think it is important that we understand that the activities of the current "mobs" is not without direction.  Too, I think it is immeasurably more important that we understand that the ultimate goal of those directing the mob violence plaguing our country today differs diametrically from the stated public demand for justice.

Juries don't "do" emotion, but mobs do.  And, sadly, it is the very same emotion,  whipped to a fever's pitch, that also blinds the participants to the less than noble ends to which their efforts are being applied.

James Bovard  is a libertarian author and lecturer.  Some time ago he said: "Part of the reason that the government's fear mongering is succeeding is because so many people are so ignorant, that it is easier for government to frighten people in submission."

Mr. Bovard also said: "The vision that the founding fathers had of rule of law and equality before the law and no one above the law, that is a very viable vision, but instead of that, we have quasi mob rule."

Mr. Bovard was spot on -- both times.

75-year-old Man Convicted For Killing 13-year-old Simmons

John Henry Spooner and Darius Simmons

Surveillance video showed Spooner shooting Simmons in cold blood.

By H. Nelson Goodson
July 17, 2013

Milw., WI - On Wednesday,  a Milwaukee County jury convicted John Henry Spooner, 75, of first-degree intentional homicide of Darius Simmons, 13. Spooner is facing life in prison. He is suffering from lung cancer.
Spooner's trial continues to determine, if he was mentally ill when he shot Simmons. Spooner's defense lawyer is trying to argue that Spooner was temporarily ill for a few seconds when he shot Simmons. A doctor for the defense collaborated that Simmon's for a few seconds was mentally ill, but the prosecutor disputed their argument.
The jury viewed a video recorded by a surveillance camera at Spooner's residence showing Spooner walking up to Simmons and pointing a gun at the victim several times and then shoots him in cold blood.
Simmons was outside in front of his home at 1905 W. Arrow St. when Spooner confronted him about the prior house break-in, according to the criminal complaint. Spooner then took out his handgun and shot Simmons. Simons was unarmed when he was shot multiple times in the chest after a shouting altercation.
Spooner admitted to police that he indeed shot Simmons, who he suspected of breaking into his home and stealing several shotguns worth at least $3,000.

Real GDP Growth: A Long Term Perspective

A picture's worth a thousand words.

Have no fear though! Ben Bernanke assures us that 2.9% to 3.6% real GDP growth is coming back in 2015. And let's not forget the 3.5% real yields that will no doubt come with it! Mark them on your calendar people! Good times ahead! Just need to keep pushing this wreck of a derailed economic train right back on the tracks. What could possibly go wrong?

This post is in response to every talking head on CNBC who tells me to keep a long-term perspective. Oh, yeah. I'm keeping a long-term perspective all right. Don't you worry about that, lol. Sigh.

Hilsenrath: What Bernanke Means

“If a substantial part of the reductions in measured unemployment were judged to reflect cyclical declines in labor force participation rather than gains in employment, the committee would be unlikely to view a decline in unemployment to 6.5 percent (unemployment rate) as a sufficient reason to raise its target for the federal funds rate.

What if we don't even make it down to 6.5 percent before the next recession hits? As seen in the following link, Ben Bernanke's powers of assumption appear to exceed his powers of prediction (by a fairly wide margin).

ACTION ALERT--DOJ Wants Emails With Anti-Zimmerman Tips: Show Them Conservatives Are Good Americans-Send an Email!

Hat Tip to Yid With Lid

The Department of Justice has no evidence that George Zimmerman is a racist so they are asking the American Public for help in tracking down and persecuting the neighborhood watch man found innocent of murder Saturday evening.

The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday afternoon appealed to civil rights groups and community leaders, nationally and in Sanford, for help investigating whether a federal criminal case might be brought against George Zimmerman for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, one advocate said.
The DOJ has also set up a public email address to take in tips on its civil rights investigation.
According to Barbara Arnwine, president and executive director the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law-- she joined a U.S. Department of Justice conference call to discuss the prospects.
“They were calling on us to actively refer anyone who had any information,” that might build a case against Zimmerman for either a civil rights violation or a hate crime, Arnwine said. “They said they would very aggressively investigate this case.”

Arnwine said the call was convened at about 3:30 p.m. by Tom Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, and included representatives from the FBI, and several federal prosecutors, she said. DOJ officials also said they would open a public email address so people could send in tips on the case.
That email address, which is now in operation, is Sanford.florida@usdoj.gov

Folks allow me to suggest we act like good Americans. Since there is no evidence that Mr. Zimmerman is a racist..send them a tip.  Please send mail to that address, send them some suggestions, like George Zimmerman pooped in his diaper when he was one or he stole the purple crayon in kindergarten, maybe even that he came up with the idea for Sharnado.  Or if you wish send them ideas of other people to investigate for civil rights violations, the IRS or even that they should investigate Eric Holder for fast and furious.

If you have two emails…send them a tip from each!

My ultimate hope is that we flood the Email address with so many Emails  they have to close it. Then the closure can become a story of the "people" fighting the government . Whether one believes the verdict was just or not this is another big government over-reach...so let's show it

Prove to the  DOJ that we are are good Americans! Here are just a few suggestions:

I think I heard one time that George Zimmerman only left a 13% tip at a Denny's. I think I also heard the server was white!

Investigate Fast & Furious

Scrolling the online websites for statement pieces with these patterns, I found a few great pieces. This way I bring the island mood in the urban heat and I must confess that a mini escape somewhere far away it doesn't sound bad at all. If so I know what I will be wearing:)
What is your favorite piece?

Let's move inside my Pinterest dream house to the foyer, shall we? Foyers are one of my very favorite rooms, the room that says 'here's what you have to look forward to in this joint.' While I'm doing the most I can with the shoebox quaint foyer I have, I'm going big in chez Pinterest.

Fantastic wallpaper, check. I've got to have some 'bam' to go with my large and in charge front door right? Right.

A place to sit down and put on shoes, or throw my fabulous Gucci bags (this is a dream after all).

A console for CoCo to put the mail down when he comes in from finishing his yard work.

And big beautiful stairs.

 With a great railing.

Maybe curvy

or maybe straight. But either way they are going to be fabulous.

What would your dream foyer look like? Are you warm and cozy or more minimalist? Anyone else get giddy when they see a good foyer? Just me?

Jose A. Adames, Julio Quiles-Guzman and Omar Rivera

Two of the suspects raped a woman while her husband was tied up in another room and their 4-year-old child was not hurt.

Milwaukee,  WI - The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office has charged a third suspect for the June 29 home invasion, armed robbery and rape of a woman at the 1900 block of W. Muskego Ave. while her husband was tied up in an upper floor room. Their 4-year-old child was not hurt, according to the criminal complaint.
Jose A. Adames, 23, was recently arrested and charged with five felonies that included one count of first-degree sexaul assault and party to a crime, two counts of armed robbery, one count of false imprisonment and one count of bail jumping. If convicted on all counts, Adames is facing up to 158 years in prison.
The two other suspects were also charge with similar felony counts. They were identified as Julio Quiles-Guzman, 23, and Omar Rivera, 27, all from Milwaukee. They are also facing up to 158 years (life) in prison, if convicted on all counts.
Rivera had recently pleaded guilty for an unrelated armed robbery and was out on bail, according to court records.
The complaint states, that on June 29, the three suspects wearing masks and gloves invaded an apartment on W. Muskego Ave. in Milwaukee's south side.
They believed a couple living in the apartment had over $40,000 in the bank. They managed to tie the husband up with duct tape and moved him to an upstairs room.
One of the suspects forced the woman to go to an ATM to take out money. The victim was able to only take out $300 per day and the suspect took the victim back home. Two of the suspects took the woman to a bedroom. Where they pulled her shorts and underwear down, ordered her to perform sex acts and then raped her several times. Then they forced the victim again to go back to the ATM after midnight and was able to withdraw an additional $500.
The suspects also stole a television, cellphones, Social Security cards, credit cards, Nintendo games, the couple's vehicle, a pet hamster and other items. The vehicle was later  abandon and burned to destroy any fingerprints left by the suspects.
Once the suspects fled the scene, the woman was able to free her hueband and they went to a neighbor to get help. Police were able to get a fingerprint left at a footboard by one of the suspects.
The fingerprint check indicated that it belonged to Rivera. Police arrested Rivera at his residence and he later admitted to police that he was involved in the home invasion and robbery, but said he did not rape the woman, according to the criminal complaint.
Police also arrested Quiles-Guzman in connection with the crime and he also denied raping the victim. Police executed search warrants in both Rivera's and Quiles-Guzman's homes where they found stolen items from the home invasion. Several small packages of heroin were also recovered from Quiles-Guzman's place.

It could be worse I suppose. At least we're still in the declining trend channel.

El Zeta 40 Facing Capital Murder And Drug Trafficking Charges In U.S.

Miguel Ángel Treviño Morales, aka, "El Zeta 40"

El Zeta 40 has been charged in connection with five homicides in Laredo.

July 16, 2013

Laredo, Texas - Miguel Ángel Treviñio Morales, 42, aka, "El Zeta 40" originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas who was taken into custody on early Monday by Mexican Marines near Nuevo Laredo is expected to be extradited to the U.S. to face capital murder and drug trafficking charges. Treviñio Morales had been charged in Texas for ordering the murders of Jesus Maria "Chuy" Resendez, 36, and Mariano Resendez, 15, in 2006 and three other homicides in Laredo. The homicides were committed by a teenage Zeta hit squad hired by Treviñio Morales. The hitmen were busted and later confessed to federal authorities that El Zeta 40 had ordered the killings.
The U.S. offered a $5M dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of Treviñio Morales. The U.S. government is expected to seek an extradition request for Treviñio Morales to face homicide and drug trafficking charges in the U.S.
Treviñio Morales is facing capital murder in Texas, which the death penalty could be sought. It is not clear, if the Mexican government would make an exception and extradite Treviñio Morales to face the death penalty. Mexico in the past have denied extradition of its citizens to face capital murder in the U.S., but have extradited Mexican nationals wanted for murder as long as they face life in prison instead of a death penalty.
Treviñio Morales is responsible for ordering more than 316 homicides including 266 murders in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, which 72 of those homicides were Central and South American undocumented immigrants whose bodies were found at a Zeta ranch.
