Mexico City - On Saturday, a 21-year-old man was taken into custody around 1:00 p.m. by two Mexico, D.F. police officers, Arturo Cruz L. with badge number 34494 and M. Degadillo R. after jumping a turnstile and video taping his own illegal arrest with an iPod. The man told the officers, that he jumped the turnstiles in protest of recently raised prices to ride the Metrotrain. He was a lone protester, according to the man.
The man is then searched by Officer Cruz L. and taken to a near by office at the Metro. Officer Delgadillo R. tells the man its not a civil offense to jump the turnstile, but the man continues to be detained.
Officer Cruz L. gets agitated as the man continues to video record his incident. The officer then reacts by putting his arm around the man's neck while choking him and forces him to the ground. In the back ground, Officer Degadillo tells Officer Cruz L. to let go and leave the man alone. As the man hits the ground, his iPod screen breaks.
Officer Cruz L. defends his actions by telling the man, that its illegal to video record. The man is then walked to the number 10 B. Juarez delegation to be processed as the man in a loud voice repeatedly continues to say, "I'm being arrested for jumping the turnstiles, protesting higher prices to use the metro and for video recording...they are violating my right of free expression."
According to Mexico, D.F. metro laws, it's not a civil offense, if someone jumps the turnstiles. Anyone caught jumping the trunstiles is escorted out of the metro or can pay their way back in to ride the subtrain. Also, it isn't illegal to video tape your own arrest as Officer Cruz L. tries to interpret.
Officer Cruz L. undoubtedly used his authority to abuse the man and damaged the man's property, while unlawfully detaining him. The man never resisted as he was arrested and choked by Officer Cruz L.
The ticket price for riding the Collective Metro Transport System in Mexico City was raised by 15 cents on Saturday, from $3.00 pesos (23 cents U.S.) to $5.00 pesos (38 cents U.S.). More than 5.2 million people use the Metro system on a daily basis.
The Metro officials couldn't estimate how many people jumped the turnstiles, since the price of riding the Metrotrain was raised yesterday.
The video has gone viral on the social networks and YouTube.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry desperately tries to drum up viewers over Megyn Kelly’s Santa is White controversy

I wasn’t going to do a post on this because the whole debate is so silly.  But, then it dawned on me that this is typical of what progressives do to stir the emotions of a topic instead of having an intellectual debate.

Case in point Melissa Harris-Perry of MSMBC who once wore a pair of Tampon ear rings
to make a point about woman’s empowerment.  After that episode I took her less seriously than I did before.  This chick is a certified fruitcake!  But, I guess that’s a prerequisite to host a MSNBC show.

ObamaCare hawkers hitting Denny’s and Air Jordon sellers to persuade young to enroll

Gotta give an A for effort for youth outreach.  But, somehow I feel Millennials  would be more interested in the special at Denny’s than signing up for an expensive ObamaCare plan.  There’s nothing affordable about the Affordable Care Act for young folks.
Fox News reports District of Columbia officials are recruiting young residents this weekend to enroll in ObamaCare by showing up where they “party by night and shop by day.”

Officials on Saturday visited two Footlocker stores where Nike’s exclusive Air Jordan 12 “Taxi” sneakers were going on sale. And they are scheduled to visit two Denny’s restaurants from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
“My motto is ‘Get them health care while you get them Jordans,” DC Health Links representative Vanessa Brooks told Fox News outside a Footlocker in the city’s downtown.

“Get some health care to go along with them taxis, OK?” Brooks told those at the store. “You got to have it. And you need it.”

The Obama administration and other supporters of the Affordable Care Act have worked hard since enrollment started in October to connect with young people, knowing their participation will help cover the cost of the elderly and others who need more medical care.

Where Is the Cornpocalypse?

Farmers Hoard Corn as Prices Drop

If yields are "anywhere close to normal, we will really be buried in corn," he says.

Adjusted for relatively modest overall consumer price inflation as reported by the government, exported corn is currently trading at early 1990s levels (as seen in the following chart).

For what it is worth, I think corn prices could easily go either way from here. I have no opinion other than to say that the farmers hoarding corn are definitely betting big in the casino. Good luck on that.

However, storing corn for too long "definitely" poses risks for farmers, says Scott Stoller, a grain merchandiser at agricultural-advisory firm AgPerspective Inc. in Dixon, Ill.

You think? Ben Bernanke must be very pleased to see so much risk taking though. Corn prices only go up! Every corn kernel needs a place to live! They just aren't making any more corn! Okay, maybe that last one isn't quite true. I got caught up in the housing bubble mentality. Probably read too much David Lereah. Sorry about that!

John Williams of ShadowStats Warns Hyperinflation Will Start in the Next Couple Months!

Williams is a respected economist who has a high level understanding of the fundamental numbers behind our economy, so his forecasts and recommendations should not be taken lightly...

It's been 36 months so far. Took the predictions very lightly. Still am. Yawn. If anything, perhaps I should brush up on my Japanese in case we're stuck in ZIRP (like they have been) for the rest of my life. Seriously.

This is not investment advice.

REPORT: Colorado gunmanKarl Halverson Pierson 'very opinionated Socialist'...

Progressives no doubt will be upset the shooter didn’t belong to the Tea Party

World News Service reports a TEENAGER who may have had a grudge against a teacher opened fire with a shotgun at a Colorado high school, wounding two students before killing himself.

Quick-thinking students alerted the targeted teacher, who quickly left the building.

The scene unfolded on the eve of the Newtown massacre anniversary, a sombre reminder of the ever-present potential for violence in American schools.
Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson identified the shooter on Friday night as 18-year-old Karl Halverson Pierson.

The shooter entered Arapahoe High School armed with a shotgun and looking for a teacher he identified by name, Sheriff Robinson said.

"(The teacher) knew he was the target and he left that school in an effort to try to encourage the shooter to also leave the school," the sheriff said. "That was a very wise tactical decision."

One of the wounded students, a girl, was taken to hospital in serious condition. The other student suffered minor gunshot-related injuries.

Two suspected Molotov cocktails were found inside the school, the sheriff said. One detonated but no one was injured.

Within 20 minutes of the report of a gunman, officers found the suspect's body inside the school, Sheriff Robinson said.

Students were seen walking toward the school's running track with their hands in the air, and television footage showed students being patted down.
Authorities concluded that Pierson had acted alone.

Nearby neighbourhoods were jammed with cars as parents sought their children.

Several Denver-area school districts went into lockdown as reports of the shooting spread. Police as far away as Fort Collins, about a two-hour drive north, stepped up school security.

The practice of sending law enforcement directly to an active shooting incident was developed in response to another Colorado school shooting that shook the nation: in 1999, two teenage shooters killed 12 classmates and a teacher at Columbine High School before killing themselves.

Arapahoe High School is 13 kilometres from Columbine.
More recently, a shooter killed 12 people at a movie theatre in Aurora, another Denver suburb, in 2012.

A slate of gun control measures, including ammunition magazine limits and expanded background checks, were this year approved by Colorado lawmakers.

Two state lawmakers were ousted in recall elections after voting for the measures, and a third resigned to avoid a recall. The backlash was a reflection of the divide in a state known for its hunting and where gun ownership is a treasured right.

"He had very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff," junior Abbey Skoda, who was in a class with the alleged shooter in her freshman year, told The Denver Post .

"I also heard he was bullied a lot."

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson told reporters Pierson entered Arapahoe High School looking for a specific teacher by name.

Police are investigating reports he was after the teacher to settle a score after a confrontation.

"The student identified a specific teacher at the high school that he was interested in confronting, and that teacher was informed of the situation and exited the school quickly," he said.

Reno Man Jeff Fleming only Gets Probation for shooting Golfer who broke his house window with errant ball on 16th hole

I covered this story back in October and thought this guy overreacted to getting his window broken.  He purchased a home on a golf course.  What else do you expect to happen once in a while?
ABC News reports a Reno man has been placed on probation and fined $1,000 for shooting a golfer whose errant ball broke a bedroom window at his home.

Jeff Fleming, 53, was put on probation for up to five years in Washoe County District Court. He had faced as much as 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine after he earlier pleaded guilty to a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
The unidentified golfer who struck Fleming's house took a drop and was attempting to play his next shot on the Lakeridge Golf Course in September 2012 when Fleming fired a shotgun at him. The golfer, who was playing with a friend, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries to an arm and both legs.

Fleming's attorney, Larry Dunn, said Friday his client was just waking up when the stray golf ball shattered his bedroom window and sprayed him with glass shards. Fleming shot at the golfer from some 50 yards away in an attempt to scare him, not injure him, Dunn said.
The ball "came crashing through the bedroom window and it startled him, and he thought he was being shot at," Dunn told The Associated Press. "He anticipated the ball coming through might have been intentional, and thought there was potential harm.

"There's no question the single shot he fired was a warning or to scare him. There was no intention to hit him," he added.

Police said the golfer and his partner ran away after the shot was fired, and it wasn't until they were safe that the golfer realized he had been hit. One or two shotgun pellets had to be removed from his body at the hospital.

I think Jeff got off pretty light. I think a couple of weeks or even a month in jail was warranted in this case.
