Pete Sessions and Darrell Issa: Who are these Obamacare navigators?

I would never give any of my personal information to an ObamaCare navigator because chances are very high they are criminals waiting to pounce for a huge payday at people’s expense.

First, the law does not bar — or even require screening for — convicted felons, including individuals convicted of identity theft or fraud. This is particularly dangerous because navigators may have access to applicants’ personally identifiable information, including Social Security number, date of birth, address, phone number and annual income.
Dallas Morning News reports to help the American people navigate the onerous and confusing requirements of signing up for Obamacare exchanges, the administration spent millions of taxpayer dollars to create the navigator program. Disturbingly, news reports from the last four weeks have highlighted numerous examples of fraudulent activity related to health navigators in Texas. So — who are these navigators and what is their role in Obamacare?

To help answer that question, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is holding a field hearing Monday at the Charles Eisemann Center in Richardson. Implementation of the program — much like the rest of the law — is off to a rocky start. This hearing follows eight months of Oversight Committee investigation and will address concerns that Obamacare’s navigator program lacks basic federal guidelines to protect Americans’ private information, reports of fraud and what officials in Texas are doing about it.
Funded by grants of taxpayer dollars to nongovernment groups, navigators are allowed to ask Americans for confidential financial and personally identifiable information. This is concerning for a number of reasons.

First, the law does not bar — or even require screening for — convicted felons, including individuals convicted of identity theft or fraud. This is particularly dangerous because navigators may have access to applicants’ personally identifiable information, including Social Security number, date of birth, address, phone number and annual income. This poorly conceived program endangers families and individuals across the country by heightening the risk of identity theft or financial loss.

In letters, interviews with administration officials, hearings and reports, Congress has repeatedly asked the administration: Why has the federal government failed to issue proper consumer protection guidelines for Obamacare’s navigators? Even as U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted before Congress that the lack of federal requirements raises a “possible” problem, the administration has continued to call common-sense safeguards “cumbersome.”

Second, navigators are only required to take a five- to 20-hour online training course and pass a quiz that they can take as many times as needed. The lack of sufficient training for navigators stands in stark contrast to the requirements placed upon health care underwriters whose job it is to help people enroll in health insurance plans. The American people deserve to know why the administration believes that inadequately trained navigators are qualified to help guide them through such an important process as signing up for health care.

2013 RATINGS CHAMP: FOXNEWS Draws More Viewers Than CNN CNNHN MSNBC -- Combined!

And that’s why loser talking heads at MSNBC like Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton and the Left’s favorite lesbian Rachael Maddow spends 75% of their airtime playing clips of Fox News Channel.  It’s the only way they can draw what little audience they have.
Variety reports Fox NewsChannel maintained its grip on the cable-news network ratings prize in 2013, drawing more viewers than the combined averages of CNN, MSNBCand HLN.

It was a down year in terms of overall audience, as every newsie but HLN showed declines from their Presidential Election-driven tallies of 2012.

According to Nielsen data through Dec. 8, Fox News Channel averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime (down 13% from 2012) and 297,000 adults 25-54 (down 30%). It was followed by MSNBC with 645,000 viewers and 203,000 adults 25-54 (down 29% in both); CNN with 578,000 (down 15%) and 187,000 adults 25-54 (down 16%); and HLN with 403,000 total viewer (up 21%) and 142,000 in the demo (up 27%).

Among all basic cable networks in 2013, FNC ranked sixth in primetime while MSNBC was 29th and CNN was 31st. In total day, Fox ran fourth while CNN was 28th and MSNBC ran 30th

Fox and CNN both made some significant changes to their lineup in 2013, with FNC’s revamped primetime lineup, introduced on Oct. 7, posting gains in both total viewers and adults 25-54 vs. the block’s 2013 season-to-date average. The newest program, “The Kelly File” with Megyn Kelly, has improved the 9 p.m. hour by 23% in total viewers and 13% in adults 25-54, and “The O’Reilly Factor” is the top show in cable news (2.78 million, 439,000 adults 25-54).

Diplomat From India Charged With Visa Fraud And Lying

Devyani Khobragade

Khobragade is facing up to 15 years in a federal prison, if convicted for visa fraud and making false statements.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 16, 2013

New York, New York - Last Thursday,  Devyani Khobragade, 39, of Mumbai, India's acting consul general and deputy consul general for political, economic, commercial and women's affairs at the New York Indian Consulate General was charged with two federal felony counts for visa fraud and making false statements. She was taken into custody by feds while she dropped her child at a school. She has two young girls.
Khobragade posted a $250,000 bail after pleading not guilty in court on Thursday and had to surrender all her travel documents. If convicted, Khobragade is facing up to 15 years in a federal prison. She is due back in court next month.
Khobragade's lawyer attempted to use diplomatic immunity,  but the U.S. denied the claim and says, visa fraud is not covered under the Vienna convention.
Khobragade allegedly made false statements when she applied for a visa for a house worker who was a babysitter. The criminal complaint states, Khobragade paid her babysitter $3.31 an hour and worked more than 40 hours per week. She claimed in the visa application, which she helped the worker fill out and to falsify, that she paid the domestic worker from India 4,500 per month. Authorities say, another document used as a contract between Khobragade and the worker showed that she actually paid her $3,927 less per month than what was reported on the visa application. She actually paid the domestic worker $500 per month, far less than the NY minimum wage of $9.75.
Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern Dristrict of New York says, that domestic workers brought to work in the U.S. from foreign countries deserve the same wage as other American workers are guarantee to get.
Federal prosecutors say, both her husband and the doemstic worker involved are expected to testify against Khobragade.
Khobragade is known for advocating for women's rights, but the federal criminal charges has embarrassed the diplomat.

DREAMers with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) risking arrest and deportation for civil disobedience action to halt removal of fellow nationals from the U.S.

Fairfax, Virginia - On Monday, "a group of 9 protestors just blocked the entrance and exit of deportation vans at the Fairfax, Virginia Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, holding the President accountable for the thousands of deportations expected before Congress returns from Winter break," Notonemoredeportation dot org reported. Among those chaining themselves in protest and blocking the ICE facility exit was Blanca Hernández, a DREAMer and a DACA recipient. Hernández is one of many undocumented immigrants that have received federal work permits and a temperary stay from being detained and deported under President Barack H. Obama's DACA program. She has joined the immigration reform movement as many other DACA recipients have and are now risking their newly temporary acquired legal status to remain in the U.S. without fear of deportation.
In order to qualify for DACA, DREAMers must not have a criminal record or a misdemeanor sentence of one year, which will automatically set forth deportation proceedings as legal permanent residence card holders fall into when in violation of a federal law that allows ICE to deportation those non-cifizens who are legally in the country for minor violations.
Blanca Hernández, one of the protesters chaining herself to the ICE office this morning says, "I have DACA, but people in my family and so many other people in my community are excluded. Its only fair for everybody to have the same opportunity because we all came here searching for the same thing," Notonemoredeportation reported.
The group is one of dozens that have taken direct action to block a few hundred of some of the 400,000 of Obama's yearly deportation qoutas. Hernández who has been in the country for 24 years as an undocument immigrant and other protesters believe Obama has the power to halt deportations. They want Obama to halt deportations and provide relief to families immediately as he did with DACA beneficiaries.
Hernández says, "For the president to say that he can't do anything is the biggest lie he can tell the community. During his electoral campaign he said he was ready to take action. I do this to remind him that he needs to keep that promise, and for all the families that continue to be separated, hoping that it stops."
No DACA recipient has lost their temperary legal status and deported as of yet for protesting during immigration reform action and civil disobedience, but that can change.
All DACA beneficiaries are at risk of deportation in the future, if a non-friendly immigrant president is elected. That president's administration can void Obama's temperary DACA program and engage in the deportation of those undocumented immigrants that signed up for DACA relief.
Last Friday, the GOP leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives ended their 2013 voting session without moving forward and voting on an immigration reform bill. The U.S. Senate passed their own version of an immigration bill, but it will automatically died at the end of the year due to no action by the House. The House failure to pass a bill will linger for the next six to eight years, depending who will control both the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the White House.
Unless, immigrant rights groups, DACA beneficiaries, supporters for immigration reform take direct national action by managing their spending and buying power of an estimated $2.5T economic financial input in the U.S. to influence change and immigration reform, they are destine to repeat the 2013 Congressional and presidential failure to pass immigration reform in the next decade at least.

3 Clovis Fresno CA teens left home alone robbed in home-invasion

There’s not much scarier an event than a home invasion.  It’s the ultimate assault on your liberty.
ABC News reports a home-invasion robbery happened in broad daylight in Clovis Saturday. It happened at a home on Loyola Ave. near De Wolf Ave.
Authorities believe the suspects are a man and two women. Investigators say they do not believe the victims knew the suspects.

Police say three males under the age of 18 were home alone when the suspects forced their way into the home.

"One was described as a man in his 30's, Caucasian, 6-feet tall, shaved head and wearing sweatshirt, another was a Hispanic female about 5-feet tall, the other was just described as heavy set," Janet Stoll-Lee with the Clovis Police Department said.

Police say after the suspects forced their way in through the front door of the home they ransacked the house looking for valuables.

"They came in and took electronics, they took money and they took jewelry," Stoll-Lee said.

Police said one suspect hit one of the victims in the face. The victim was taken to the hospital only for precautionary measures.

Police are asking the public for help in bringing in the suspects. Authorities say their getaway car was reported as having a loud exhaust system and it sped away from the Clovis neighborhood after the robbery.

"If someone happened to see that or hear that or look out the window and give us a description of the vehicle, we'd be grateful," Janet Stoll-Lee said.

Police say there haven't been any other home invasions in the area. In fact, the last home invasion they worked that was even similar to this case was in February 2010.

If you have any information in this case you're asked to call the Clovis Police Department.

Paul Ryan Says GOP to Make Debt-Ceiling Demands in Early ’14

Unless the GOP establishment is willing to go past a debt ceiling default deadline date and withstand the media barrage that goes along with it, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Wall Street Journal reports House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) signaled that Republicans would not raise the debt ceiling next year without some sort of concessions from Democrats, saying lawmakers were still crafting their strategy.

“We, as a caucus, along with our Senate counterparts, are going to meet and discuss what it is we want to get out of the debt limit,” Mr. Ryan said on Fox News Sunday. “We don’t want ‘nothing’ out of the debt limit. We’re going to decide what it is we can accomplish out of this debt limit fight.”

The U.S. government spends more money than it brings in through taxes, which means the Treasury Department has to borrow money by issuing debt. The government can only borrow money up to a certain level -

called the debt ceiling – which is set by Congress. In October, lawmakers agreed to “suspend” the debt limit until Feb. 7, 2014. The White House has said it will no longer negotiate with Republicans on conditions for raising the debt limit, but many Republicans have said they will only vote to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for budget changes like spending cuts.
