ABC 15reports a student teacher now faces charges of having sexual contact with a student at Tempe Union High School.

But should the district have let him be in one of their classrooms in the first place?

Our ABC15 investigation uncovered teachers in the same district had warned administrators about Joel Calderon's alleged inappropriate conduct years before when he worked at a high school just three miles away.

About three years ago, Calderon started his teaching career at McClintock High School as a math aide.

According to documents obtained by ABC15, the first red flag came up in March of 2010.

In a letter, the school principal warned Calderon not to take students out in his car or to dinner. Despite those warnings, the problems continued in November. 

"He didn't heed that information the following fall semester, and it was reported again, that there were some oddities, if you will in his performance," said Kevin Mendivil, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources with the school district.

Administrators kept a paper trail, writing Calderon was getting too close to some students.

The McClintock High School principal reported Calderon walked a female student down the hallway, and also came to a teacher's classroom to visit her.

Another time, school officials said Calderon was overheard asking a female student if she was "lonely" while she waited in the reception. Documents show he allegedly said she could come down to his classroom "anytime."

According to school documents, when the principal approached him again "he shrugged and said he didn't think it was a big deal."

"There's a fine line you cross. That was addressed in his performance appraisal, which resulted in his termination by the administrator," Mendivil said.

He was fired from the school district December of 2010.

But a few years later at age 26, he was back in the school district as a student teacher at Tempe Union High School just a few miles away.

We asked how that happened.

"His name was sent out along with probably 200 others in the district. And we simply do not have a database, an electronic database by which we can cross reference previous employees. It's just not there," Mendivil said.

Police documents show Calderon allegedly met with a 16-year-old student outside of school and had a few sleepovers that led to oral sex.

Sources say the White House was forced into “damage control spin mode” to explain why Michelle remained holed up at the couple’s luxurious $24,500-a-week ocean­front rental in Oahu.

According to Associated Press: “Mrs. Obama stayed behind to spend time with friends ahead of her up­coming 50th birthday party.”

Another report said that Michelle planned to visit Oprah Winfrey at her estate on Maui.
In any case, Michelle turns 50 on Jan. 17, and her husband is throwing her a gala birthday bash at the White House the following day.

But as The ENQUIRER has re­ported, the two have been at war ever since the president brazenly flirted with Denmark’s leggy blonde female prime minster, Helle Thorning-

Schmidt, during the memorial service for South African icon Nelson Mandela. Obama, 52, and the 47-year-old beauty playfully snapped a “selfie” photograph together during the solemn ceremony on Dec. 10 while an obviously incensed Michelle shot daggers at them.
In the wake of the mortifying in­cident, sources said the first couple moved into separate White House bedrooms, and Michelle met with di­vorce attorneys.

The first lady was still reeling from the “selfie” episode when the couple had a showdown in Hawaii over her birthday party, sources say.

2013 was another record setting year for gun sales in America.  That is a record over the preceding year 2012, which, itself,  set a record for that twelve month period, as well.  If this continues the gun making industry will hate to see Obama leave office in 2017.

"In terms of the numbers, 2013 was another record year, government data from the FBI’s controversial “background check” system showed. According to news reports, over 21 million applications were processed by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) last year. Because one background check can be used to purchase multiple firearms, the number of guns sold might even be higher. In 2012, there were just under 20 million.

Overall, nationwide gun sales, as measured by NICS data, were up eight percent over 2012’s record-setting figures. Every year for the last 11 years has seen an increase in gun purchases. The Obama Administration is the most "tone-deaf" administration in my lifetime.  As Obama continues to attack gun owners and the 2nd Amendment, with his executive orders, or decrees, he is also building a case for his own abuse of power by exceeding the constitutional limits on his power and thereby violating his oath of office.

In the article Mr. Wolverton makes the case that Obama is acting outside his authority, outside the boundaries placed on his power by the constitution.

The cause of the surge in gun sales in America?  First and foremost is a President who stated clearly that he intended to seek "sensible" gun control laws.  Gun owners believe that the gun grabber's definition of sensible" is entirely different from theirs. "Sensible" to a gun owner means keeping your weapon pointed down range at all times, safety on 'til you're ready to fire, etc. These phrases aren't even included in the lexicon of the gun grabbing Left.  When I hear the phrase:  "sensible gun control regulations/laws" I cringe.

But the most important reason Americans are purchasing guns and ammunition at  monumental rates is because they sense they may be called upon to defend their constitution -- and their country -- from a Marxist takeover in the near future.  Americans are preparing to defend themselves and their freedom by force of arms -- if it becomes necessary.

I know.  THAT is a difficult truth to come to grips with, but there it is. 

The Founders of this country knew their fellow Americans well enough that they understood Americans would tolerate their government's abuse of freedom and liberty, until it reached a point at which it could no longer be accepted.  They knew that once Americans decided that point had been reached, they would act to rescue their country from the clutches of tyranny. 

Today, in America, you can feel the urgency, the anxiety, and yes, even anticipation in the very air we share as brothers and sisters of liberty.

Let me be clear:  I'm not advocating anything other than a return to the free, constitutional, representative government our forefathers intended for us. I am simply pointing -- and attempting to draw attention -- to the state our country finds itself in today.  The America we live in today is NOT the America designed by the Founders of this country. 

Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, Henry, Hancock, Rutledge, Lynch, Middleton, Heyward, Penn, Hewes, Hooper, None of these men who placed their lives, liberty, fortunes, and above all -- their sacred honor on the alter of freedom would not recognize the place that, today, bears the name -- but not the likeness -- of the country they founded.  America has become that which they despised most.    

Consider the following:  "The government required people to register their guns, insisting it was for their own protection, a way of tracking down criminals that was supposed to cut down on crime.

In reality, however, it was merely a ruse to track down those patriots who might resist the coming tyranny."

So explains Kitty Werthmann in a speech going viral on the Internet, a story of her life in Austria right before the Nazi occupation of her home country in 1938. As she explains, her nation’s surrender to Nazi tyranny didn’t begin with the Anschluss, but with little steps like acquiescing to gun-control laws:

“Dictatorship didn’t happen overnight. I took five years, gradually, little by little, to escalate up to a dictatorship,” she said. “When the people fear the government, that’s tyranny. When the government fears the people, that’s you, that’s liberty. It is the 2nd Amendment that guarantees all the rest.  It's as simple as that. 

 I'm a Son of the South.  Maybe we southerners are a bit more sensitive to encroachment on our freedom by government.  See, we are the only region of America to be invaded, conquered, and occupied by a foreign power. For twelve long years (1865 thru 1877) our society, our way of life,  was brutally disassembled, taken apart, by a vengeful central government.  One hundred and thirty-seven years after Reconstruction officially ended the scars are still red, angry, swollen, and tender.

At the behest of General R.E. Lee, my ancestors grounded their weapons and became good citizens casting their lot with southerners of all classes to rebuild our broken land.

Now, we, the progeny of those brave men, sense a genuine threat to our freedom -- yet  again. 

Perhaps you will forgive us if we seem a bit restless these days.  It is not in our nature to submit quietly to the shackles of  the tyrant. Understand if we seem overly eager to be in the vanguard of the defense of our constitution.  It is, I suspect, because having lost our freedom in April of 1865, we know, all to well, the value of freedom and the cost of losing that freedom.

Wave away all the smoke, turn the mirrors to the wall, and the truth can be seen clearly.  Mr. Obama, through his words, deeds, and declarations has made it clear that he finds our constitution abhorrent.  It is Obama's propensity for shrugging off the will of the people and the bonds of the constitution on government that have made him the gun salesman of the year. 

Individual freedom is the birthright of ALL Americans.  The single most important obligation an American has toward the constitution is to protect it and thereby protect our birthright -- freedom.

NewsMaxreports Conservatives slammed the $1.1 trillion bipartisan budget bill passed by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, charging that it violated spending levels imposed by sequestration and caused the United States to keep spending money it did not have.


"It's just another example of bipartisanship spending more money and putting us further in debt," Chris Chocola, president of the Club for Growth, told Newsmax in an interview. "It's 1,582 pages. I'd be willing to make a bet that not one of the 435 of them actually read it.

"Instead of finding a way to be fiscally responsible, both parties are disappointed, once again, in spending more now and growing the size of government — putting us further in debt — and promising to behave better later, but not now," he said.

Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, told Newsmax that the bill signaled "a substantial retreat on the part of Republican leadership and a broken promise on what they said they would do in 2010. It's very frustrating."

On a vote of 359-67, the House passed the huge spending bill based on the compromise brokered in December by Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin,chairman of the House Budget Committee, and Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, who heads the Senate Budget Committee.

Three Democrats joined with 64 Republicans to oppose the measure, which finances the government through this year and makes the possibility of a federal government shutdown less likely.

The legislation — which delays another $20 billion in Pentagon cuts under the 2011 sequestration bill, on top of the $34 million in reductions imposed last year — is expected to be approved by the Democratic-controlled Senate later this week.

House Speaker John Boehner praised the vote as a strong example of Capitol Hill bipartisanship.

"The House came together to keep the government open while further reining in its out-of-control spending," the Ohio Republican said in a statement. "I am particularly pleased that this measure contains no earmarks, which were once a pervasive symbol of a broken Washington.

"Also of note is that we are not providing any new or additional funding for the president’s healthcare law," Boehner added. The GOP-controlled chamber has voted numerous times to repeal the embattled Obamacare law.

"Of course, there is always more work to be done to deal with Washington’s spending problem, an effort Republicans will continue to lead as part of our focus on growing the economy and preserving the American Dream," Boehner said.

Americans are split on spliff.

Marijuana, that is. Forty-nine percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll support legalizing small amounts of the drug for personal use. Almost exactly the same number, 48 percent, are opposed.


Support for legalization is numerically at a new high in ABC/Post polls, albeit only by a single percentage point from its level slightly more than a year ago, and up dramatically from its lows in the mid-1980s and well into the 1990s.

At the same time, strength of sentiment continues to weigh against the weed. Thirty-six percent “strongly” oppose its legalization, more than the 28 percent who strongly support it.

This poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, finds several sharp contrasts on the issue among groups, notably by age, political party identification and ideology.
