treat yourself friday
One of my favorite things to do is get my nails done. However, I often find myself without the time to go to the nail salon, aka 'mommy's special place'. And as a result, I have more bottles of nail polish at home than I care to count.
Last Friday I was feeling particularly cheap but still wanted my Friday treat, so I picked up a bottle of Sinful Colors at Target for $1.99. Can't get any cheaper than that.
Turns out this is the BEST nail polish I've ever used (with the exception of my Chanel). This stuff stays on longer than a RHOOC marathon. No chipping. Bright colors. So much fun.
Treat yourself this Friday and pick some up.

I promise I will catch every moment spent here in photos and I will show them to you! I would like to share this look that I had in draft for a few weeks, before I forget. Sporty again, and probably the last time wearing a Winter coat ! Sunny days are here and I 'm enjoing them as much as I can!

take a seat part 4
I'm feeling good. I'm in control, as 80's Janet Jackson would say. I made legitimate progress, and there wasn't even excessive cussing. (no more than the normal daily amount that is)
My lovely little settee was sanded, primed and given two wonderful coats of black spray paint.
I have no idea what those hieroglyphics are btw |
Next up was ironing out any and all wrinkles.
don't worry, all old staples were removed before new stapling began |
One staple at the top, the bottom, left side and then the right to hold the fabric in place. And then back to each side, pulling, holding, stapling.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
It actually went a lot quicker than I had planned (knock on wood). So quick in fact that I got both outside sides down in just a little over an hour.
High and tight - just like a good soldier haircut.
I will pause now so you can raise the roof with me.
Only one small change of plans so far. I'd originally thought I would do nailhead trim but my little paved roads are too wide for the nailhead. It looks like I'll have to go the piping route. Which means a dip into the sewing pool. Damn. I'm not ready for swimsuit season.
Next up, we'll go inside - arms, back and seat baby. Oh yeah.
mom, are you digging in the trash again?
My car stops, and before I know it I've coerced my husband into helping me lift this into the trunk.
A great old built in. As we were trying to squeeze the odd triangle shape into our trunk a lady pulled up next to us and said, "if that doesn't fit in your car, I'll take it".
Paws off lady! Find your own trash!
This detail is on both ends and I love it.
Even a little extra fun at the bottom.
But as you can tell, it needs A LOT of work. I already know where its going to go - in the family room. It screams toy storage to me. And the fact that its a corner cabinet, that is just the space saving cherry on top!
So now for the big question - what color(s)? White and navy? White and black? Pink and purple? Just kidding, although that was my daughter's suggestion. (she's 4 so we'll let it slide). I'm open to any and all ideas you can throw at me.
The Alabama Memorial Stone
Don't miss the new, silky, black & gold pjs, slippers and beer! And are those a pack of Newport 's in his ashtray?
So, you thought you'd seen it all, eh?!
THE MEMORIAL STONE
Billy died.... His will provided $30,000 for this elaborate funeral.
As the last guests departed the affair, his wife, Joyce, turned to her oldest and dearest friend, Jonelle.
"Well, I'm sure Billy would be pleased," she said.
"I'm sure you're right," replied Jonelle, who lowered her voice and leaned in close.
"How much did this really cost?"
"All of it," said Joyce .. "Thirty thousand dollars."
"No!" Jonelle exclaimed. "I mean, it was very nice, but $30,000?"
Joyce answered, "The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to the church.
The whiskey, wine, food and snacks were another $500.. The rest went for the Memorial Stone."
Jonelle quickly computed the total of $7,500 and said "$22,500 for a Memorial Stone? My God, how big is it?"
Joyce answered, "Two and a half carats
Poshlocket PROJECT
This is the first of a group of five posts that I made for the Poshlocket Project. I have mentioned this project a while ago and now I'm ready to show you the result!!! I was asked to be a model for Spring -Summer 2012 Leather Collection and you can see the entire Lookbook here . This post features Danielle Chain Leather Bracelet (BK) which I wore with leather and a sporty neon blouse. For more punch of color, I added the electric blue clutch.
