The Red Jacket

Slowly, but surely it came that time of the year when is all about : BLAZERS, LEATHER  JACKETS , PEACOAT and COATS in general, you name it , I wore it :)
Because the weather has changed these days, I wore this red coat that I found it in a thrift store( new with tag, ) for 20$.  It became a small DIY project: I cut the sleeves in order to give it a minimalism/modern look. The oversize design is exactly what I was looking in a coat this season. I paired it up with more patterns for a maximalist effect: H&M pants, striped blouse, animal print pumps and this cuff bracelet that I received from Robyn Rhodes. It had this bug design on it (so lovely ).
What categorie is your favorite this season ? Shoes or Coats?

P.S We have the winner of the Sheinside Giveaway : Congrats Martina , soon you will be contacted for more information. Thank you, everyone, for your participation !

Even the Progressive Spin Machine Couldn't Help Him...

Oops, Guess They're Catching On To Me

There are those who see little real difference between the statist proclivities of Obama and the like proclivities of Romney. For liberty advocates the real disappoint of course is that Gary Johnson, his record, and his vision were pretty much kept under wraps because of the powerful duopolistic system and Gary not being able to compete with the rEpublican and dEmocrat money machines. But as they say it is what it is so we deal with what we end up with. I'll be voting principle and conscience but a small part of me I suppose is smiling because the "lesser of two evils" has moved ahead.

THE HILL - Mitt Romney has overtaken President Obama in a Public Policy Polling survey released on Tuesday.

Romney won 49 percent support from likely voters in the poll, compared to 47 percent for Obama.

It’s the first time all year Romney has led in the poll, which was conducted on behalf of the liberal Daily Kos website and the Service Employees International Union. Obama led 49-45 percent in the group’s previous poll, conducted before last week’s debate.

Romney was boosted in the poll by gains among female voters. Obama still leads 51 to 45 over Romney among women, but he had a 15-percentage-point lead in the previous poll.

It’s the second poll in a row to show Romney swinging to a lead following his historic trouncing of Obama at last week’s debate.

A poll released Monday by the Pew Research Center showed Romney with a 4-point lead nationally. In the Pew poll, Romney enjoyed an 18-point swing among female voters.

Romney also stretched his lead among independents in the PPP poll to 48 percent to 42. In the previous poll he led 44-41 among independent voters.

The first debate between Obama and Romney has significantly shifted momentum in the race. {Read More}

gallery wall update courtesy of BirdAve

Hey all! The gallery wall has gotten a spruce.

I was lucky enough to win a print from BirdAve Studio via Pawleys Island Posh right before my vacation and I finally got around to hanging it up.

It was hard to pick just one, and I'll definitely be getting more, but out of all the cities from all over the world I decided on Des Moines. Because of it's world class nightlife and excellent shopping of course. Actually it's where the hubs and I met (college) and it is a very happy place with very happy memories.

A great addition to the corner and one of the many perks of a gallery wall - the more the merrier. There is always room to add another special piece.

So how about you? Did you get to gettin' on any projects this weekend? Did you see the RHONJ reunion?  There aren't words for those ladies.

More spruces to come!

Philosophic and Political Camaraderie?
A ruler who has proven himself to be anti USA at almost every turn has handily won reelection to the Presidency in Venezuela. Reports are voter turn out was 90%.

The Weekly Standard - Yesterday, Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez "won" reelection. Today, the White House is congratulating Venezuela on that outcome.

From the pool report, which details a gaggle held by White House spokesman Jay Carney:

-Carney said US congratulates Venezuelan people on its election, while noting the US has its differences with Chavez. {Read More}

I told you about Me Char Handbags and my collaboration with lovely Charmaine ( the designer)... Here I am wearing another bright minimalistic clutch from their shop. Because the weather was more beautiful than I expected, after a few not so great days, I made a comeback to the dress, sandals, and covered up with a J.Crew cardigan. It was Bogdan's cardigan, I wore it to ad an edgy touch to this feminine look( I like to go to his closet from time to time, I always find something great to wear ; )
The necklace is my newest piece from a mini collection of 15 pieces. In December, it will be presented in a jewelry exhibition, named: "Bittersweet Colours - Accents "You will see all the pieces before the exhibition...very soon, I promise :)

A Proper Ethical and Moral Code, Has America Lost its Bearings?...

A Proper Ethical and Moral Code, Has America Lost its Bearings?...
by: Les Carpenter

Liberty
-vs- Tyranny

As the election draws ever closer it is becoming quite evident We the People are destined to get another screwing no matter which candidate prevails. I find myself just shaking my head and acknowledging the battle for liberties lost and ever again realizing the full natural rights of man is now but a fading and ever more distant dream of what once was.

We have slowly and willingly allowed the forces that propelled us to achieve greatness as a people and nation to be turned into a force that will ultimately destroy us. Witnessing the forces at work that have torn, and continue to tear at the philosophical principles this nation was founded on I no longer have the stamina or desire to describe that which should be clear to all. So I will allow another to say it. And say it with clarity, accuracy, and boldness...

Man's Rights - If one wishes to advocate a free society-that is, capitalism-one must realize that its indispensable foundation is the principle of individual rights. If one wishes to uphold individual rights, one must realize that capitalism is the only system that can uphold and protect them. And if one wishes to gauge the relationship of freedom to the goals of today's intellectuals, one must gauge it by the fact that the concept of individual rights is evaded, distorted, perverted, and seldom discussed, most conspicuously by the so-called "conservatives."

"Rights" are a moral concept- the concept that provides a logical transition from the principles guiding an individuals actions to the principles guiding his relationship with others- the concept that preserves and protects individual morality in a social-context-the link between the moral code of a man and the legal code of of a society, between ethics and poliics. Individual rights arev the means of subordinating society to moral law.

Every political system is based on some code of ethics. The dominate ethics of mankind's history were variants of the altruist-collectivist doctrine which subordinated the individual to some higher authority, either mystical or social. Consequently, most political systems were variants of the same statist tyranny, differing only in degree, not in basic principle, limited only by the accident of tradition, of chaos, of bloody strife and periodic collapse. Under all such systems, morality was a code applicable to the individual, but not to society. Society was placed outside the moral law, as its embodiment or source or exclusive interpreter-and the inculcation of self-sacrificial devotions to social duty was regarded as the main purpose of ethics in man's earthly existence.

Since there is no such entity as "society," since society is only a number of individual men, this meant, in practice, that the rulers of society were exempt from moral law; subject only to the traditional rituals, they held total power and extracted blind obedience-on the implicit principal of: "The good is that which is good for society (or for the tribe, the race, the nation), and the ruler's edicts are its voice on earth."

This was true of of all statist systems, under all variants of the altruist-collectivist ethics, mystical or social. "The Divine Rights of Kings" summarizes the political theory of the first- "Vox populi, vox dei", of the second. As witness: the theocracy of Egypt, with the Pharaohs as an embodied God-the unlimited majority rule or democracy of Athens- the welfare state run by the Emperors of Rome- the Inquisition of the late Middle Ages-the absolute monarchy of France-the welfare state of Bismarck's Prussia-the gas chambers of of Nazi Germany- the slaughterhouses of the Soviet Union.

All these political systems were expressions of the altruist-collectivist ethics-and their common characteristic is the fact that society stood above the moral law, as an omnipotent, sovereign whim worshiper. Thus, politically, all these systems were variants of an amoral society.

The most profoundly revolutionary achievement of the United States of America was the subordination of society to moral law. {Emphasis mine}

Profound truths. However, until such time as the educational system, the business community, our corrupt politicians, and the general electorate understands these moral and ethical principles, and begins to respect and practice them this nation will continue it's reactionary slide back to the tyrannical past from which it initially rebelled.

Sadly, neither major political party and by extension neither candidate has a clue. At this point in the game I wonder how many Americans really have a clue any longer as well.

Stop making excuses for Barack Obama -

Stop making excuses for Barack Obama -

It's time to stop making excuses for Barack Obama. With so much at stake in this election, his performance at the debate on Wednesday night was indefensible....

There is always some excuse, some reason for not bringing all of the president's energy and resources to the fight.
On jobs, the biggest crisis facing the country, the excuse for not having done more has been Republican obstructionism. There is no doubt the Republicans have tried to thwart the president every which way from sundown. But Obama never fought back in kind. He never found his inner Harry Truman, never took his case forcefully to the people. He kept trying to accommodate the other side long after it was clear that no accommodation was possible.
In the face of the worst economic calamity since the 1930s, the United States needed a mammoth job-creation and economic revitalization program, a New Deal for the 21st century. But that would have required presidential leadership capable of challenging the formidable opposition mounted by the very folks who caused the crisis in the first place. Instead we got a woefully insufficient stimulus program and a failed effort at some kind of grand bargain between the president and the retrograde Republicans in Congress. That grand bargain would have imposed austerity measures that would have further crushed the poor and the black and the middle class.
On Wednesday night nearly 60 million television viewers got to witness this chronic unwillingness of Barack Obama to fight. He did not hammer Mitt Romney for his ugly, all-too-revealing comments that demeaned nearly half the population as slackers and ne-er-do-wells. He did not go after Romney's terrible job-creation record as governor of Massachusetts. He did not assail Romney for his callous contention on 60 Minutes that people who don't have health insurance actually do get care -- in the nation's emergency rooms. "If someone has a heart attack, they don't sit in their apartment and die," said Romney. "We pick them up in an ambulance and take them to the hospital and give them care."
Obama never bothered to bring up that cold-hearted comment during the debate, never bothered to explain why the reliance on emergency room treatment is one of the worst possible approaches imaginable to providing health care.
One of the more remarkable things about the debate was Mitt Romney's absolute contempt for anything resembling facts, truth or reality. Deliberate deception was the bedrock foundation of his strategy. He wouldn't even come clean on the tax cuts that are a cornerstone of his campaign. And yet it was Romney who had the chutzpah to look Obama in the eye and assert: "Mr. President, you're entitled to your own airplane and your own house, but not your own facts."
How in heaven's name could Obama let him get away with that?
The harsh truth is that President Obama seemed unprepared for the debate. He came off as a man who didn't really want to be there, who wondered why he should have to be bothered fending off the impertinent attacks and serial untruths being flung at him by his opponent. The millions of Obama supporters who wanted to see flashes of passion and fire from their guy -- from a president fighting effectively on their behalf -- were left with nothing but the bitter taste of disappointment.

Fake Antivirus Software Seller Fined 163 Million Dollars

Fake Antivirus Software Seller Fined 163 Million Dollars
Fake Antivirus Ringleader Must Pay $163 Million
Federal court imposes $163 million judgment on a woman who FTC says helped run scareware ring that tricked more than one million consumers across six countries into purchasing fake security software.
Acting on a Federal Trade Commission complaint, a federal court has imposed a $163 million judgment on a woman who allegedly helped run a scareware ring that tricked over one million consumers across six countries into purchasing fake security software.
That decision, announced by the FTC Tuesday, came after a two-day bench trial last month. U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett, who presided over the case, also wrote in his related judgment that the defendant, Kristy Ross, "shall be permanently restrained and enjoined from the marketing and sale of computer security software and software that interferes with consumers' computer use as well as from engaging in any form of deceptive marketing." AdTech Ad
The fake software in question--often referred to as scareware, fake antivirus, or fake AV--is part a social-engineering scam designed to trick users into thinking their PC contains viruses, system errors, spyware, or pornography. The software then advertises information security software to help, which is available for immediate download. But in reality, the results of the system scan, as well as security software's cleaning power, is fake.
[ Cyber crooks' use of server-side infrastructure used to infect PCs is increasing. Read more at Online Criminals' Best Friends: Malnets. ]
According to the FTC, Kristy Ross, together with defendants Sam Jain, Daniel Sundin, Marc D'Souza, and James Reno, served as officers and directors of two businesses: Belize-based Innovative Marketing, Inc. (IMI), and a subsidiary, Cincinnati-based ByteHosting Internet Services. The businesses were used "to conduct a massive 'scareware' scheme that marketed a variety of computer security software via deceptive advertising."
According to the FTC, the operation "used elaborate and technologically sophisticated Internet advertisements placed with advertising networks and many popular commercial websites," which purported to display the results of a "'system scan' that invariably detected a host of malicious or otherwise dangerous files and programs on consumers' computers." The scanner then urged consumers to buy software, priced between $40 and $60, to remediate the issue.
In the wake of the FTC's complaint, which accused eight defendants in total of having violated the FTC Act, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland immediately granted the FTC a temporary restraining order requiring IMI to cease marketing and selling its software, which was sold under such names as WinFixer, WinAntivirus, DriveCleaner, ErrorSafe, and XP Antivirus. The court also froze the assets of the businesses involved.
Last month, Ross argued in court that the judgment of $163 million proposed by the FTC against her "was grossly overinflated and that she should be held liable only for the ads and products she herself marketed at MyGeek," wrote Bennett in his judgment. But the judge said that he found the amount, which had been calculated by the FTC, was "a reasonable approximation of consumer redress." Bennett also ruled that Ross would be jointly liable for the "consumer redress" amount with defendants Sam Jain, Daniel Sundin, and IMI.
Of all of the people charged by the FTC in this case, Ross was the only remaining defendant. Four of the others already settled with the agency, including Marc D'Souza and his father, Maurice D'Souza, who in 2011 agreed to a settlement requiring that they return $8.2 million in what the FTC dubbed as "ill-gotten gains." The other three defendants in the case, meanwhile, had judgments entered against them by default because they failed to appear in court and participate in the litigation.
Web-facing databases have a huge target on their backs. The easy way to secure these databases would be to take them off the Web, but a system that does not serve a business function is worthless to the company. Security pros must figure out ways to secure databases with limited resources while keeping business systems operational. In the Strategies For Protecting Web-Facing Databases report, we recommend several cost-efficient methods. (Free registration required.)

A Night of Truths, Half Truths, and REAL Stretches

Debate night one is in the history book. Spinning by both sides has progressed nicely and of course as expected. However, few who actually watched the debate in its entirety would dispute who the stronger, most assertive, and presidential candidate was, thus "winning" the debate. Romney was unquestionably that winner on last night.

Presidential debates are, or at least should be more about the issues facing Americans and the nation they inhabit than the theatrical. But as we all know perception is reality to most people and thus Romney won hands down on perception.

Romney was confident, upbeat, strong and convincing in his delivery. He had a good grasp of the issues and really took the debate to the President. He in short was having fun as well as debating.

Obama on the other hand seemed distracted, halting, at times unsure. He reminded us more of a professor (which he is) than an effective leader. At times it appeared as though he just didn't want to be there. He actually looked tired and defeated at times.

Sorting through the statements made by the candidates as well as deciphering the pundits commentary in the attempt to separate truth from partial truth or outright falsehoods can be a daunting task. With the busy lives most people lead, many of them busy trying to find a good paying job, it is difficult to keep on top of all the facts. When knowing the facts is the basis on which individuals ought to be making their decision on who to vote for.

Unfortunately some qualified candidates for the job of president do not get a place at the debate. Complements of the great American political system know as the American duopoly. But I digress.

Here are some snippets to help sort things out a bit, or perhaps generate more questions.
