one room challenge - week 6 aka the reveal!

Week six is finally here and I have crossed the finish line. Picture me squirting gin water all over my face. Wahoo!

I've said it before but it should be said again - six weeks is not as long as it sounds and I was down to the wire on this project. It can be confirmed that I am a down to the minute girl.

But enough jabbing, let's get to the pictures. I won't do much talking today (as hard as that is to believe), I'll just show the goods. Oh, with one note - this is a basement AKA - NO light. And no matter how many 'learn how to use your camera' tutorials I pin, I just don't have the patience. So be kind. A professional photographer I am not...obviously.

As a reminder, here is where we started six weeks ago.

Here was my inspiration board for the space.

And here we are today.

The old office table from Goodwill and my mis-matched chairs have all gotten a paint job and are ready for lots of arts and crafts. The chalkboard was mine growing up and got a fresh coat of red paint (the girls' color choice).

Clearly I am not a chalkboard artist, but the girls are. The quote is my new mantra. I'm going to use it to justify my consistently messy house.

I planked the back of the bookshelves to coordinate with the plank wall and then filled them with my blue and white overflow and lots 'o books. The numbers on the left are old score board numbers I got at a church yard sale years ago and represent our anniversary - May 20.

I made those pillows. With a sewing machine. Its true. Not a big deal to most but a huge accomplishment for me. I am still amazed.

The old $8 chairs got white denim slipcovers (perfect to wash when needed) and look so very good. I am in love with their skirts. And they looks smashing with their Goodwill makeover lamps.

The dollhouse was made years ago by a family friend and was passed down to the girls when my niece went to college. The sign that hangs above is from my grandparent's farm. The same farmhouse where the 'homework chair' that sits over at the creative station came from.

The girls are big into photos (mostly of themselves) so I took an old metal tray and turned it into a magnetic photo board. Push pins often end up on the floor and then stuck in someone's toe (that would be mine) at our house so magnets sounded like a safer bet. Now we can switch, add and rearrange on a whim. And trust me, we have a lot of whims at our house.

The coffee table got a fresh coat of paint and a new plexi glass - aka unbreakable - top. And I'm madly in love with the indoor/outdoor rug. It feels great, looks great and takes a beating like a champ.

So there she blows. All done and being trashed by the girls as we speak. Just as it should be. I'll be sharing more details, sources, and tutorials over the coming weeks so be sure to stay tuned. And thank you all for following along. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

A special huge thank you to my dear friend Linda for including me on this fun adventure, and to all my fellow challenge mates. Excellent work ladies!

Please take time to look over all of their beautiful spaces. This is a fun day!!

Mexico - Andrea Vilash, the former star reporter for Paranoia TV in Mexico has filed a lawsuit for getting fired from her job after a video was loaded up in October on the Internet and YouTube showing her lifting her dress and taking of her G-string undergarment in front of 17 band members and then giving it to a band member to smell. She was terminated because of her indecent behavior during an interview.
Vilash even asked the band members, if they could handle her. The actual video was recorded in March, but was released in October, which went viral on the Internet.
She said, that she would take one piece at time for each answer to a question that was granted by the group.
The video shows band members grabbing her buttocks and lifted her dress as another other attempted to pull down her G-string. Vilash was finally persuaded to take off her undergarment while being video taped and cellphones cameras clicking on the action.

San Luis Potosi, Mexico - On Saturday, Arturo Benítez Ramírez, 59, of Houston, Texas was arrested in San Luis Potosi by state police in connection with the 2010 massacre of 72 undocumented immigrants from Central and South America in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, according to the San Luis Potosi State Public Security Secretary (SSPSLP). A citizen tip led state police to the municipality of Axtla de Terrazas in San Luis Potosi where Ramírez, a suspected Zeta member had traveled to attend the festivities of el Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). His identity was confirmed and a warrant from the Mexican government showed that he was sought in connection with 72 homicides (58 men and 14 women) and human trafficking from Mexico to the U.S. The bodies of the murdered victims were found in clandestine graves in an abandon ranch. Mexican Marines discovered the  shallow graves after one of victims escaped and notified federal military police.
Luis Freddy Lara Pomavilla, 18, from Ecuador had escaped from a nearby Zeta Cartel occupied ranch and made his way to a military outpost.
The homicides were connected to the Zetas in the area. So far, eleven Zeta suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the 2010 massacre.
The SSPSLP did not provide any details about Ramírez involvement in the San Fernando massacre.

Tennessee Woman Craving Mickey D's Runs Over Boyfriend With Pickup Truck

Crystal Greer Brook

Woman arrested by Kingsport police for taking boyfriend's pickup truck and running over him three times for not stopping at a McDonald's restaurant.

By H. Nelson Goodson
November 5, 2013

Kingsport, Tennessee - Last Wednesday,  Police in Kingsport arrested Crystal Greer Brook, 33, of Kingsport just after midnight and charged her with aggravated assault for striking her live in boyfriend, Santiago Hernández, 41, with his 2002 S10 Chevrolet pickup truck multiple times. Kingsport Police Officer Dennis Hickman responded to an incident at the 400 block of W. Carters Valley Road just after midnight and found Hernández with abrasions to his arms and back and a torn clothing "consistent with being dragged on the pavement."
According to the police report, Francisco Hernández told police that Brook, Santiago and him had gone out drinking and then decided to stop at a restaurant to get something to eat. The choice of restaurant ignited an argument between Brook and Santiago who was driving. Santiago stopped at a different restaurant, which Brook didn't agree with. She wanted some McDonald's.
Brook made her boyfriend stop the truck. While he got out and went to the front of the truck, Brook slided over to the driving wheel and accelerated striking and knocking Santiago Hernández over and then ran him over several more times. Brook denied that she ran over Santiago, but Francisco who accompanied them confirmed to police that Brook had been upset that Santiago didn't want to stop at Mickey D's to get something to eat.
She told Officer Hickman that Santiago had "jumped on top of the hood" and denied that she struck him with the pick-up truck. Officer Hickman determined that Brook was the aggressor and arrested her.
Santiago survived the incident and Brook ended up in jail without having any McDonald's.
Officer Hickman gave Santiago who spoke little English a domestic violence form to fill out and drove him to a friend's house where he spent the night, according to the police report.
Both Brook and Santiago Hernández have a child together, according to Officer Hickman.

Congressman Gutiérrez Has Falling Out With NIYA Over Immigration Reform Tactics

Congressman Gutiérrez will no longer work with the National Immigrant Youth Alliance and the DREAMActivist dot org.

By H. Nelson Goodson
November 5, 2013

Washington, D.C. - On Monday, the Office of Congressman Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL) announced that Gutiérrez will no longer work with the National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA) and their affiliated advocates at DREAMActivist dot org. The latest decision by Gutiérrez shows a deep division and a difference of strategy to deal with immigration reform between immigrant rights groups.
Douglas Rivlin, spokesman and Director of Communication for Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez says, that on Monday, representatives of the National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA), DREAMActivist dot org, and the DREAM 30 sat-in at the office of Congressman Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL) in Washington, D.C.  One activist, Marcela Espinoza, 28, from Illinois, who was recently released from detention in El Paso, Texas at the request of Congressman Gutiérrez, was removed from the office of Congressman Gutiérrez for refusing to leave until the Congressman spoke personally with President Obama and secured the release of other detainees.  Espinoza was arrested for unlawful entry by Capitol Police and two other activists left the office voluntarily.
Rivlin in a news release says, that Congressman Gutiérrez met privately with the parents of some of the young people in detention in El Paso last week in Washington; a meeting that was frank, emotional, and confidential.  But that meeting was also recorded surreptitiously by NIYA, without the knowledge of the parents, the Congressman or his staff.  It is unfortunate that the actions of the advocates in this case are preventing this office from being able to work with parents and family who are understandably and rightly concerned for the safety of their son or daughter.
The illicit tape recording of a confidential conversation was the latest chapter in a long and difficult relationship with NIYA and its leaders.  The NIYA leaders have expressed their strong opposition to immigration reform and don't believe a bill will pass this year. They have also expressed disturbing racism, and have put young people in harm's way, according to Gutiérrez.  In talking with the families, the Congressman and his staff believe that the parents and families were being manipulated by NIYA and its leaders and were not well informed about the law and the legal process.
Gutiérrez is warning parents that these actions can hurt the chances that young people will be able to return to the United States or live legally in the United States.  Only one in ten asylum cases like these are approved and a deportation or removal could put future legal status in doubt.  Congressman Gutiérrez continues to fight for the ability of DREAMers and their parents to remain in the U.S. or to enter legally, if they have been removed or left the United States.
The Congressman's staff had been working with the Department of Homeland Security and the attorney for the detainees to help secure their release.  The Congressman's staff has also communicated directly with a number of the parents, siblings and supporters of the detainees in the past several weeks, according to Rivlin.
Also arrested was Marco Pacheco, of Texas, who refused to leave the office of Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX) and another DREAMer Brandol Pahuamba was arrested later in day at the office of U.S. Senator Bob Menéndez (D-NJ). Both Pacheco and Pahuamba were arrested for unlawful entry, according to police.
The DREAMers wanted legislators to intervene in the deportation process of eight members of their group known as the DREAM 30.  Eight DREAMers are awaiting deportation and 21 have been freed pending the outcome of their legal status.  Rocio Hernández Pérez, 23, has been deported after leaving the U.S. and then attempting to reenter the country with more than 30 DREAMers at the Laredo International border crossing from Mexico. The DREAM 30 had applied for asylum, but were arrested and sent to an El Paso, Texas ICE processing center.
NIYA released the following statement in response to Gutiérrez accusing them of manipulating undocumented families. NIYA states that they haven't worked with Gutiérrez months before September 2012, "Since the launch of the #BringThemHome campaign, members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, especially Rep. Cuellar and Rep. Gutiérrez have stuck to one talking point: the families of the #Dream30 are being manipulated by the National Immigrant Youth Alliance. We have always found this analysis to be horribly off and, at its core, very dehumanizing. Rep. Gutiérrez wants YOU to believe that if a “Mexican” finds his or her way to his Capitol office to ask for something, then he or she must be being manipulated. The only place a “Mexican” must know is in the back of someone’s kitchen or office, doing back-breaking work. We find Rep. Gutiérrez’s statements to be absolutely dis-empowering and a disservice to the real power of the undocumented community."
"As the National Immigrant Youth Alliance, we are the only national network that is led entirely by undocumented youth. The decisions as to what we work on and the direction in which we go are completely in line with the needs of the undocumented community. That is the reason why we have already, purposefully infiltrated several detention centers and have had members willingly return to Mexico in an effort to bring home other exiled DREAMers. As NIYA, we ultimately lay our faith in our own community, and believe that an empowered community is more powerful than other organizations at accomplishing its goals.
"Given Rep. Gutiérrez’s recent posturing, it is all the more evident to us that to those like him, an empowered community that dares to make an ask of him is a very dangerous thing. In the role that Mr. Gutiérrez has carved out for the “Mexican,” they are only expected to get involved in politics when he is on one of his many national church tours. Their only role is to fill his pews, provide tears for the cameras so that he, as the “Moses of the Latinos” can once again “tell us” how bad deportations are. But once they begin forming their own political opinions and demanding more than just the scraps from the table, can only mean they are being manipulated," NIYA stated.

Here’s the Report That May Have Prompted The Lumber Liquidators Raid

Conservation groups say forests in Russia’s far east are known for large scale illegal cutting operations. Illegal logging brigades comb forests for high-quality varieties like Mongolian oak and Korean pine, cutting down trees in the middle of the night and passing them along to illegal saw mills. From there, traders mix the illegal wood with legal wood and Chinese manufacturers use fake documentation to smuggle so-called black wood out of Russia to sell to Western retailers.

The following was a comment left for me on the last post.

Definitely believe that whih you stated. Your favourite justification seemed to be on the internet the easiest facftor to understand of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while other people consider issues that they just don't recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as smartly as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , other folks can take a signal. Will probably be again to get more.

Turing Test

The Turing test is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. In the original illustrative example, a human judge engages in natural language conversations with a human and a machine designed to generate performance indistinguishable from that of a human being. All participants are separated from one another. If the judge cannot reliably tell the machine from the human, the machine is said to have passed the test.

Human? Machine? You make the call.

The Puppet Master Speaks

John Barr the last of the JW's Governing Body born before 1914 WTB&TS 2010 annual meeting

Nathan Knorr ( 3rd President of WTB+TS) blamed Jehovah God for failed prophesy in the past saying "Jehovah caused to be preached"
as usual the Governing Body take no responsibility for failures in prophecy today they teach followers
"The light gets brighter"

The Watchtower has promoted six different and contradictory explanations of what this generation refers to. Many Witnesses based their life choices on the generation doctrine that Armageddon would arrive before all those born prior to 1914 had died. Can an organization that makes such critical errors rightfully claim they alone are directed by God?

At the 2010 annual meeting, John Barr presented the latest understanding of the generation. 97 year old Barr was an apt choice to deliver this talk, being the last of the Governing Body born before 1914. He explained the generation is now to include 2 groups whose lives "overlap" since 1914:
"John Barr ... twice read the comment: "Jesus evidently meant that the lives of the anointed ones who were on hand when the sign began to be evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of the other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation." We do not know the exact length of "this generation," but it includes these two groups whose lives overlap. Even though the anointed vary in age, those in the two groups constituting the generation are contemporaries during the part of the last days. How comforting it is to know that the younger anointed contemporaries of those older anointed ones who discerned the sign when it became evident beginning in 1914 will not die off before the great tribulation starts!" Watchtower 2010 June 15 p.5

There is no Scriptural reason to believe a generation referred to two overlapping groups, other than wishful thinking and a need to prop up the 1914 teaching as still relevant. Can any credence be given to this explanation? The following review of the history of contradictory generation teachings shows there can be no doubt that these teachings are neither directed by holy spirit nor Scripturally sound.

The Watchtower understanding of "this generation" has changed constantly through the entirety of Watchtower history; both regarding who it has been applied to and the timeframe. It is a classic example of the Watchtower's Eisegesis approach to interpretation - forcing a meaning that does not exist. With four different contradictory and sometimes regressive teachings between 1995 and 2010, this subject nullifies any reason to believe the Watchtower excuse for changes as their light getting brighter

A key factor to the growth of the Watchtower Society is the promise that this system will end at any moment. The shorter the expected time left, the higher the growth. (Immediately prior to dates the end was specifically expected, such as 19141925 and 1975, growth increased to as high as 20 %.) When there has been no specific date set, the concept that "this generation will by no means pass away" has been used to stimulate urgency. Looking retrospectively, it is remarkable to see the number of changes to the "generation" teaching, in order to make each decade in the 1900's appear to be the decade Armageddon would come.  Source

Who the Generation Applies to

The Watchtower has swung between whether generation has a positive connotation that applies to the Anointed, or has a negative connotation applying to worldly contemporaries. It has also varied on whether the period was over an unspecified time frame or was a fixed period. In brief, the changes have been as follows:
1897 -– A group of contemporary people
"“Other uses of this Greek word (genea) prove that it is not used with the significance of race, but in reference to people living contemporaneously.... In other words, the signs mentioned will occur within a generation - epoch in the close of the age.”" – Studies in the Scriptures Vol 4 pp.602,603
1927 –- The anointed
“"The irresistible conclusion therefore is that Jesus referred to the new creation [the anointed] when he said: “This generation shall not pass until all these things be fulfilled.” This then would be a strong indication that some members of the new creation will be on the earth at the time of Armageddon.”" Watchtower 1927 Feb 15 p.62
1951 -– A fixed period of time from 1914 applied to worldly people
"The actual meaning of these words is, beyond question, that which takes a “generation” in the ordinary sense, as at Mark 8:12 and Acts 13:36, or for those who are living at the given period. So it was on “this generation” that the accumulated judgments were to fall. (Matt. 23:36) This therefore means that from 1914 a generation shall not pass till all is fulfilled, and amidst a great time of trouble." Watchtower 1951 Jul 1 p.404
1995 -– A group of contemporary worldly people
"Jesus was not departing from his established use of the term “this generation,” which he consistently applied to the contemporary masses with their “blind guides” who together made up the Jewish nation. ... Jesus refers principally to contemporary people of a certainhistorical period, with their identifying characteristics."” Watchtower 1995 Nov 1 pp.14,20
2008 –- The anointed
"As a class, these anointed ones make up the modern-day "generation" of contemporaries that will not pass away "until all these things occur." This suggests that some who are Christ's anointed brothers will still be alive on earth when the foretold great tribulation begins." Watchtower 2008 Feb 15 p.24
2010 –- A fixed period from 1914 applied to the anointed
"He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation." Watchtower 2010 April 15 p.10

Jehovah's Witnesses 135+ years of false prophecies exposed

Tidbit: The term “Jehovah” was the invention of a Catholic monk (Raymundus Martini) in AD 1202, That name may not appear in Scripture, because there existed not until the 12th century, so the JW can not say that appears 7,000 times in Scripture, de hecho, In fact, this name is linked with that of demologia and Illuminati, Source

Below this 7 part series is hosted on You Tube...it gives a clear easy to understand the 135 yr+ history of the false prophesies of Jehovah's Witnesses. The facts are a indisputable review these segments for your self.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? - Oddball

October 30, 2013
Passenger traffic fairly flat at Port Columbus last month

There were 501,354 passengers in and out of the local airport, an increase of 192, which is less than one-tenth of 1 percent.

For the year so far, the number of passengers is down 3 percent at Port Columbus, a trend that has been noted at airports across the country.

Shouldn't have gone down the negative waves path. Should have said something righteous and hopeful for a change. Perhaps it is not too late.

These 192 extra people will no doubt lead to all sorts of exciting extra retail sales and employment opportunities for the one person with a well positioned food truck! So what if the trend is down at airports across the country! Gotta keep the faith!

LULAC Selects Milwaukee For Its 2014 Women's Conference

LULAC women's conference to draw hundreds of nationwide members into Wisconsin in March 2014.

By H. Nelson Goodson
November 4, 2013

Milwaukee, WI - The national League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) organization has announced in its website that Milwaukee has been picked to hold its two day 2014 LULAC Women's Conference in March 28-29. LULAC posted in its website that, "This Conference provides professional development workshops and seminars targeted to the needs of "Latinas" and also highlight the contributions that "Latinas" have made to this country."
On Saturday, Margaret Moran, the national president of LULAC was in Milwaukee to confirm the organization's decision to hold the women's conference in the city. Moran held a limited news gathering at the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation (WHSF) facility, which in partnership with LULAC Councils 319 and 322 sponsor the annual Mexican Fiesta at the Summerfest grounds in late August.
In September, the WHSF held a restrictive news conference at the facility focused on a story that Hispanic News Network U.S.A. broke and exposed concerning Fiesta LPOA security and Milwaukee police were targeting Hispanics believed to be in gangs and people with facial and body tattoos not in good taste for Mexican Fiesta officials. Those victims were targeted and expelled from the Fiesta grounds without refunds and banned from the weekend festival without doing anything illegal at the event.
Afterwards, Ruben Burgos and other board members of the WHSF held a news conference and kept HNNUSA from covering their response to the article that exposed their discriminatory policy and treatment of festivalgoers for the last three years.
A call by friends of the victims to boycott Mexican Fiesta for 2014 went viral on the social network and a YouTube news report was even posted. HNNUSA also learned that for years, the national LULAC organization, WHSF and the two LULAC Councils 319 and 322 were denying access to undocumented students who applied for scholarships. They continue to deny scholarships, even though they have come out in support of immigration reform.
With hundreds of women attending the LULAC conference in March, hopefully some or even one of the women attending has the courage to challenge the national LULAC and the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation Sponsor of Mexican Fiesta, including LULAC Councils 319 and 322 policy to denied scholarships for women DREAMers at a crucial time that LULAC shamefully shows supports for immigration reform, but not giving scholarships to undocumented students.

Officially I'm joining the ladies who covet the Celine grey boots but instead of breaking the bank they are happy buying a more affordable version from Zara -one more reason to love Zara! -
I took them for a first spin last Sunday in a non-colorful combination -grey/navy- but don't worry more colorful combinations are coming soon!
P.S. I also love this cozy giant monogramed scarf -perfect for chilly days!
