As America's Youth Mature, Bad News for ObamaCare... Good News For the Nation!

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Oops! Time for more re-education/indoctrination I suppose. The very crowd that the ACA (OBAMAFART) needs to successfully foist the government mandated health insurance law on the individual and independent American people are balking. GREAT NEWS for liberty and the proper role of government. Since the two lunkheaded sides of the political spectrum are INCAPABLE of working to find consensus this is the next best thing. Independent, intelligent individuals, and the future of the nation making their voices heard, loud and clear.

NationalJournal - Young Americans are turning against Barack Obama and Obamacare, according to a new survey of millennials, people between the ages of 18 and 29 who are vital to the fortunes of the president and his signature health care law.

The most startling finding of Harvard University's Institute of Politics: A majority of Americans under age 25--the youngest millennials--would favor throwing Obama out of office.

The survey, part of a unique 13-year study of the attitudes of young adults, finds that America's rising generation is worried about its future, disillusioned with the U.S. political system, strongly opposed to the government's domestic surveillance apparatus, and drifting away from both major parties. "Young Americans hold the president, Congress and the federal government in less esteem almost by the day, and the level of engagement they are having in politics are also on the decline," reads the IOP's analysis of its poll. "Millennials are losing touch with government and its programs because they believe government is losing touch with them."

The results blow a gaping hole in the belief among many Democrats that Obama's two elections signaled a durable grip on the youth vote.

Indeed, millennials are not so hot on their president.

Obama's approval rating among young Americans is just 41 percent, down 11 points from a year ago, and now tracking with all adults. While 55 percent said they voted for Obama in 2012, only 46 percent said they would do so again.

When asked if they would want to recall various elected officials, 45 percent of millennials said they would oust their member of Congress; 52 percent replied "all members of Congress" should go; and 47 percent said they would recall Obama. The recall-Obama figure was even higher among the youngest millennials, ages 18 to 24, at 52 percent.

While there is no provision for a public recall of U.S. presidents, the poll question revealed just how far Obama has fallen in the eyes of young Americans.

IOP director Trey Grayson called the results a "sea change" attributable to the generation's outsized and unmet expectations for Obama, as well as their concerns about the economy, Obamacare and government surveillance.

The survey of 2,089 young adults, conducted Oct. 30 through Nov. 11, spells trouble for the Affordable Care Act. The fragile economics underpinning the law hinge on the willingness of healthy, young Americans to forgo penalties and buy health insurance. {Read More}

Peak U.S. Public Air Transportation Services

I know what you are thinking. Okay, sure. That's definitely a peak. It can't be the ultimate peak though. Our population is growing and the future is so bright I gotta wear shades!

Not so fast. Let's put that same data on a log chart. On a log chart, constant exponential growth is seen as a straight line.

That's not straight. It's curving exactly like a baseball in flight would, and when I say exactly I mean with an r-squared of 0.995.

If the 80+ year long-term trend continues, only the wealthiest among us will be flying in planes someday. How's that for a kick to the long-term prosperity gonads? It isn't just flying either. Driving looks mighty suspect as well. Just doing my part to add some perspective! Sigh.

Minneapolis Police Officers Thole and Powell were fired as the resulted from last June's internal investigation of an altercation between a group of black men and the officers in Greenbay, Wisconsin that involved using racial slurs, including targeting the sexual preference of their own police chief.

December 4, 2013

Minneapolis, Minnesota - On Tuesday, Minneapolis Police Chief JaneĆ© Harteau notified both Police Officers Brian Thole and Shawn Powell who were previously suspended with pay that they had been fired for an altercation with a group of black men that involved racial slurs, including one of the officers making expletive comments about the chief's sexual preference, the Star Tribune reported. The incident that both Thole and Powell were involved happened on June 29 in Greenbay, Wisconsin. The former officers were interrogated by Greenbay police after an altercation between them and a group of black men ignited outside a local bar. The former officers made racial slurs at the scene, which were recorded by a police squad dash camera. They also went to the Greenbay police station to talk about the incident and again engaged in racial slurs.
One of the former officers was partially recorded by Greenbay police video cameras making derogatory comments about the black men and Minneapolis Police Chief Harteau. The officer said, "We have a lesbian f○○king chief...these dudes are making their monkey thing."
Greenbay police notified the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) about the incident in which both Thole and Powell were not charged, but a 40-page investigation report of the incident by Greenbay police was released to the Minneapolis Police Department. An internal investigation by the MPD was initiated and  resulted with Tuesday's decision to terminate both Thole and Powell from the department. The former officers were members of the MPD SWAT unit and are Veterans. They will appeal Chief Harteau's decision, according to the Star Tribune.
Both Thole and Powell will continue to get paid until the outcome of the appeal.

Madison, WI - On Wednesday, Yesenia Eldermira Rodriguez (R), 36, aka,  "Jessie" was sworn into office as State Representative for the 21st Assembly District by Robin Vos (R), Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Rodriguez's swearing in ceremony took place at the State Assembly chamber.
In November, Rodriguez defeated Elizabeth Coppola (D), 29, making her the first Latina in the GOP to get elected in Wisconsin. Rodriguez who is originally from El Salvador used the alias "Jessie" to run for office. She works as an outreach coordinator for Hispanics for School Choice, a non-profit organization.
Rodriguez replaced retiring Republican Mark Honadel, who served for 10 years in the 21st Assembly District.

family room design board

Wednesday is a good day for a show and share, don't you think? Me too. I'm working with an awesome family of five who just moved into their 'this is it' house and they asked me to help with a few rooms.

First up - the family room. Being the smart (and realistic) people that they are they were not going to chuck a perfectly good sectional just because they moved, so we used that as our jumping off point.

They also had the wicker chair and an upholstered arm chair, so we were off to a good start in the furniture department. The armchair is a bit...dated shall we say and the wicker chair could use a spruce, but no sense in throwing out perfectly good furniture if all it needs is a little pick me up. I chose a great faded ikat pattern that will up the fun factor on the old girl and she is already on her way to the upholster for a little nip and tuck. The wicker chair will get a paint job and be as good as new.

The lucite coffee table will keep things airy and open and finding a great old buffet to go below the TV will provide tons of storage for toys, games etc. And can I just say how much I love a client who is game to rock some pink!

Finally we added a big sisal rug that will stand up to some pretty active littles and layered a pattered rug on top to hide the inevitable stains that littles tend to leave behind.

Good news is the buffet has been found, the curtains are already hung and all of the fabric is on its way. This room may just be ready in time for Santa.

Power to the People!

The following chart shows real annualized power construction spending per capita (October 2013 dollars).

Tack on another $117 per year that will ultimately be passed on to the people (each man, woman, and child).

Hey, maybe it won't appear all at once though, thanks to the Fed's ZIRP providing long-term financing at supposedly super cheap long-term interest rates. That debt could potentially just brew and percolate for a few decades perhaps. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Power to the people (slogan)

During the 1960s in the United States, young people began speaking and writing this phrase as a form of rebellion against what they perceived as the oppression by the older generation, especially The Establishment.

With $90+ oil, power to the people has a whole new meaning now of course.

It doesn't look like we can expect much power construction job growth per capita from here. As seen in the chart, real spending per capita is just sliding along sideways at a higher new normal. I guess we'll just have to make it up on fast food jobs.

The Fast-Food Restaurants That Require Few Human Workers

"The fight for $15 is a fight against technology, not management — and that's a fight that these union-organized protestors can't win. Instead of securing a bigger paycheck, the less-experienced employees demanding a more than 100 percent pay increase will find their jobs replaced by less-costly alternatives," Michael Saltsman, research director at EPI, said in a statement.

...

Today, Amsterdam's Febo chain of stores feature only vending-machine service for burgers, fries and more. A few employees are responsible for stocking the items behind the machines but way out of customer view, so you can walk up, drop in your coins and get a hot meal after a long night out without talking to anyone face-to-face.

Introverts of the world unite! I say this as an introvert who generally enjoys gallows sarcasm of course. Deep sigh.

Scott Walker Campaign Drops Palmisano After Racist Tweets About Illegal Aliens Surfaced

Taylor Palmisano

The re-elect Scott Walker campaign announced it had dropped Palmisano from their staff after prior racist tweets that she posted about illegal aliens surfaced.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 3, 2013

Madison, WI - On Tuesday, the Republican campaign Friends of Scott Waker headquarters to re-elect Governor Scott Walker confirmed that Taylor Palmisano, 23, the Deputy Finance Director has been dropped from the campaign staff after several racist tweets that she posted resurfaced targetting illegal aliens. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (MJS) reported that Palmisano posted two tweets aimed at illegal aliens. In one, Palmisano posted, "I will choke that illegal mex cleaning in the library. Stop banging f○○king chairs around and turn off your Walkman." (Dated March 9, 2011)
The other tweet stated, "This bus is my worst f○○king nightmare Nobody speaks English & these ppl dont know how 2 control their kids #only3morehours #illegalaliens." Palmisano was returning to Wisconsin from a Badger Rose Bowl game in Pasadena, CA and was heading to Las Vegas in January 3, 2011, the MJS reported.
Palmisano has deleted her Facebook  and Twitter accounts, since she was fired from the Walker re-election campaign.
Walker is running for re-election in 2014 and is seen as a potential candidate for President in 2016, eventhough his hasn't earned a college degree, according to critics.
In October, Walker attempted to attract the Latino vote by contacting the Mexican government and requesting for President Enrique PeƱa Nieto to open a Mexican Consulate in Wisconsin. Walker has noticed the economic growth and contribution that Hispanics have contributed to the state's economic growth, but he has yet to publicly endorsed for undocumented immigrants in Wisconsin to apply for driver licenses or to allow for instate tuition for DREAMers in the state.
Until Walker allows driver licenses to be issued to undocumented immigrants and also allow instate tuition for DREAMers, Latinos in the state will not take Governor Walker seriously.
Former Democratic Governor Jim Doyle signed a law preventing undocumented immigrants from applying or renewing their driver licenses in the state.

Mall of America Officials Show Grinch Spirit After Man Throws His Last $1K At Black Friday Shoppers

Serge Vorobyov

Vorobyov who tossed $1K at Black Friday shoppers was arrested and cited for causing a disturbance by police after Mall of America officials thought it was an act that could have ended with someone getting hurt.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 3, 2013

Bloomington, Minnesota - On Friday, Serge Vorobyov was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct by Bloomington police for tossing his last one thousand dollars at Black Friday Mall of America shoppers. Vorobyov who says, that he is going through hard times and just went through a bad divorce decided to go into the mall on Friday and toss $1K from a fourth floor into the ground level rotunda where a choir was singing "Let it Snow."
Mall of America (MOA) officials are now being labeled holiday "Grinches" by mall shoppers for over reacting and allowing police to cite Vorobyov for disturbing the peace after tossing money in the mall. A statement released by MOA to media outlets says, Vorobyov's act "could have caused a major disturbance and ended in someone getting hurt." No one was reported injured, but many people received some extra shopping cash from Vorobyov, according to police.
Did MOA over react instead of thanking Vorobyov for the publicity the mall received over the weekend?
Vorobyov posted a YouTube video explaining his intent and is now facing a citation for tossing money over the railing from the fourth floor of the MOA. He says, he didn't deserve a citation for disorderly conduct, since no one was injured. Vorobyov says, he is going through a messy divorce and just wanted to spread some holiday cheer and just tossed his last $1K when a choir was singing "Let it Snow."
Vorobyov in his YouTube statement says, "I went through a horrible divorce and she even took the cat and won't tell me where it is. I thought I would just spread some holiday cheer...pay it forward."
Shame on MOA for acting like Grinches this holiday season.
Should Vorobyov been arrested and cited for disorderly conduct for throwing his own money away to Black Friday shoppers at the MOA?

$50 Million Dollar Lottery Ticket Winner Loses Ticket BUT OLG Tracks Her Down She Wins Bigtime!

$50 Million Dollar Lottery Ticket Winner Loses Ticket BUT OLG Tracks Her Down She Wins Bigtime!
But for the first time in history, the OLG approached the winner instead of the other way around.
Through a months-long investigation, the lottery corporation determined Hamilton resident Kathryn Jones was the rightful winner, after searching transaction history and security camera footage from a Shoppers Drug Mart in Cambridge.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation have announced the winner of a $50 million Lotto Max prize that went unclaimed for a year.

“As you can imagine this has been both a very weird and wonderful journey,” Jones said at a press conference Tuesday morning.

Man Finds $98K in Desk Bought Off Craigslist
Since the announcement of the winning ticket on Nov. 30 of last year, 435 people inquired about the prize, but Jones never did.
A self-described “random” lottery player, Jones admits she lost the ticket and still has no idea where it is.
“I have obviously, as you can imagine, I have looked in my house very thoroughly and it’s not there.”
Jones, an engineer, said she has two children in university who are taking the news in stride.
“My oldest son lectured us on being responsible,” she said. “[He told us,] ‘I don’t care about the money I just want to get through these exams.’”

Previously, Jones had only won $20 through gaming. She said her family has no plans for the money yet.
Through the investigation, the OLG determined Jones purchased the only $16 ticket sold at the Shoppers Drug Mart location that day, and her answers were consistent with their questions regarding the purchase.
The corporation also conducted an independent review after learning Jones’ sister owns a retail outlet in Ottawa that sells lottery tickets.

“I feel very grateful . . . no one had to take that initiative [to find the winner],” she said.
As per their policy, the OLG will hold the prize for another 30 days to make sure no one else comes forward, although they are positive Jones is the rightful winner.

The largest unclaimed prize through the OLG prior to this was $5 million.

The “progressives”: Advancing un-American ideas for fun and profit

The ā€œprogressivesā€: Advancing un-American ideas for fun and profit

 Commentary by James H. Shott

They once called themselves “liberals,” but as practiced here in the U.S. through the years that word gathered lots of negative energy, casting adherents in a bad light, so they changed their moniker and now call themselves “progressives.”

But the term “progressives” is a misnomer, unless you consider it progress for America to slowly abandon the freedom that was once our hallmark, and move instead toward being more under the thumb of an increasingly over-reaching government.

To demonstrate how off-the-mark some progressives’ thinking is, consider the following:

On ESPN’s “Around the Horn,” a frequent guest named Kevin Blackistone said that football games should not include the singing of the national anthem during the pregame, calling the “Star-Spangled Banner” a “war anthem.”

Mr. Blackistone was addressing controversy over Northwestern University’s American flag-themed football uniforms, designed to raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project. In the “Buy or Sell” show segment he said he would “sell” the uniforms: “I'm going to sell it for the same reasons. If you sell this along with me, you should also be selling the rest of the military symbolism embrace of sports. Whether it’s the singing of a war anthem to open every game. Whether it’s going to get a hotdog and being able to sign up for the Army at the same time. Whether it’s the NFL's embrace of the mythology of the Pat Tillman story. It has been going on in sports since the first national anthem was played in the World Series back in 1917. And it’s time for people to back away.”

Mr. Blackistone clearly is a man who neither understands nor cares for America.

And this from Mary Margaret Penrose, a Texas A&M School of Law professor, who expressed her frustration with the fact that President Barack Obama has failed to pass more gun control since the crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Prof. Penrose said gun laws should be decided on a per-state basis, versus the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: "The beauty of a states' rights model solution is it allows those of you who want to live in a state with very loose restrictions to do so." She went on to say that her problems with the Constitution are not limited to the Second Amendment, and advocates in her law courses redrafting the entire U.S. Constitution.

Is advocating abandoning the supreme law of the land acceptable in helping law students learn about and understand our system of laws?

More wisdom from the halls of academia comes from Professor Noel Ignatiev of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, who tells his students things like this: “If you are a white male, you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease, white males have never contributed anything positive to the world! They only murder, exploit and oppress non-whites! At least a white woman can have sex with a black man and make a brown baby but what can a white male do? He’s good for nothing. Slavery, genocides against aboriginal peoples and massive land confiscation, the inquisition, the holocaust, white males are all to blame! You maintain your white male privilege only by oppressing, discriminating against and enslaving others.” He suggests that all white males should commit suicide.

Two thoughts arise from this; first, we should enthusiastically applaud the professor’s recent decision to stop “teaching,” and second, since he is a white male, ask why he is still alive and see if he will continue to be a hypocrite, or if he will follow his own advice.

Not to be outdone in the expression of un-American ideas, The Washington Post had its own expert academic opinion from Jonathan Zimmerman, who professes history and education at New York University.

“Barack Obama should be allowed to stand for re-election just as citizens should be allowed to vote for — or against — him,” he wrote. “Anything less diminishes our leaders and ourselves.”

The professor must have missed that part of his history education when Congress proposed an amendment to the Constitution to limit the president to two four-year terms, and why it did so. The 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951, following FDR’s election to four terms, having been approved by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states. It prevented the likely possibility of a “president for life” evolving and creating a situation like the one the Colonies suffered under that led to armed revolt. A “president for life” is not unlike a monarch.

Maybe he thinks monarchy is superior to the form of government the Founders created, the obligation of which was to guarantee basic freedoms to the people it was created to serve. If it’s oppression he wants, there are many countries to which he can relocate.

A major feature of progressivism is to limit the liberties our ancestors fought and died for in the naĆÆve hope of creating a perfect society. Over the last century or so they have chipped away enough of the protections and guarantees that the system doesn’t work as it was designed to, and their solution is to continue to destroy it, rather than to restore it.

Is US Military Readiness Being Compromised? ... J. D. Longstreet

Is US Military Readiness Being Compromised?
Obama's Purge of the US Military
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

*******************

More and more Americans are beginning to worry that America's military is in decline.  Veterans of the military forces, especially, worry as they have seen the evidence of a lack of readiness by simply comparing the state of readiness of their branch of the military during their time of service and the state of readiness today in that same branch of the US Military.

It is a topic the government does not want to discuss in public.  That is understandable.  However, it needs attention and it needs attention NOW.

The House Armed Services Committee chairman, Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Calif., said recently:  "You'd better hope we never have a war again."  It would seem he, too, is concerned over what he perceives as the decline in what the military calls its readiness.

There can be no doubt that recent budget cuts have hurt the US military.  The cuts were made against the warnings of top brass at the Pentagon and by military experts.  More cuts are in the pipeline.

How bad has readiness suffered?  Well, that's classified.  But we are able to pick up a snippet here and there that allows us to peek behind the curtain for an instant.

From a report on ABCnews.com we learn:  "... an Air Force official says they've grounded 13 combat fighter/bomber squadrons or about a third of those active duty units. And the Army says only two of its 35 active-duty brigades are fully ready for major combat operations."  SOURCE:   http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/worry-us-military-ready-21046785

Just for your information -- a brigade is made up (usually) of approximately 3,500 to 5,500 troops.   So the figures above become even more frightening when we realize that we have roughly 160,000 active duty combat troops in those 35 brigades -- BUT -- we only have less than ten thousand active duty combat troops ready to fight -- right now!

Yeah, I know that is JUST the Army and does not include the Reserves, the Marines, and the Navy. Still, it IS eye-opening and frightening.

Budget cuts have curtailed training, especially for the US Army and it is beginning to show.

Consider this:  "U.S. General Ray Odierno, U.S. Army chief of staff, has said that budget cuts and fiscal uncertainty in the United States have led to sharp reductions in army training.

In comments on October 21 at a conference of the Association of the U.S. Army, Odierno said currently only two brigades of troops are fully trained and combat ready.

"We had to stop training, basically, in the last six months of the [fiscal] year," Odierno said.

A combat brigade has between 3,500 and 5,000 troops. The U.S. Army currently has some 570,000 uniformed personnel.

Under current plans approved by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel during the summer, that figure could be reduced as low as 420,000.

Odierno also said budget woes are affecting equipment purchases and the army currently needs a new armored fighting vehicle and new helicopters."
  SOURCE:  http://www.rferl.org/content/article/25143880.html

Look. The US military is reeling from $800 billion in defense cuts over the next ten years  and now, we learn, they are faced with $500 billion MORE in budget cuts since sequestration has kicked in.

The Obama administration’s military budget cuts are being made when global tension and instability are spiraling up.  The Middle East is a time bomb set to explode at any moment.  As I write China and Japan are at something of a stand off over disputed ownership of a few small islands claimed by both.  The US is pledged to fight for Japan should this glaring contest suddenly go hot and bullets begin to fly.

How bad is it?  As we said above that is classified, but consider what Retired Adm. James A. Lyons former Commander - in - Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and senior U.S. military representative to the United Nations had to say back in October 2013 in an article published by the Washington Times:  "All this means that we will have the smallest Army since prior to World War II. The Navy, with its anemic shipbuilding program, will most likely be left with the smallest fleet since prior to World War I. The U.S. Air Force will suffer a similar adverse impact. Selected aircraft squadrons from both the Air Force and the Navy have been ordered to stand down and not fly. It will take several months to restore their readiness.
Symbolic of the Navy’s demise are the five aircraft carriers that are currently moored at piers at the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia for lack of operating and overhaul funds. Clearly, with the escalating civil war in Syria, one carrier battle group should be immediately deployed to the Mediterranean. Such a deployment would dramatically change the strategic equation and counter Russia’s deployment of 11 ships currently there." SOURCE:  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/11/restoring-military-readiness-512223544/#ixzz2mEsFm3Ny

The budget cuts have done a number on the US military.  Adding to the military's problems though, is the social engineering the left has forced upon our fighting forces.  Unit cohesion is evaporating with homosexuals serving openly now and, with women in combat roles, sexual assaults are sky rocketing.

Some are wondering if we have entirely to many politician soldiers, parade ground officers, instead of fighting generals in positions of power in the upper echelons of the US military.

And there are those who suspect Obama is purging the military of generals and admirals who place their oath to protect the Constitution before allegiance to him.

Consider this:  "Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, who was with Delta Force and later Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence under President George W. Bush, says it is worrying that four-star generals are being retired at the rate that has occurred under Obama.

“Over the past three years, it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause,” Boykin said.

Boykin went on to say:  “I believe there is a purging of the military,” he said. “The problem is worse than we have ever seen.”

Boykin referred to recent reports that Obama has purged some 197 officers in the past five years."
  SOURCE:  http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/top-generals-obama-is-purging-the-military/#zjus8xYFUc2EzwEZ.99

One could argue that Obama is only following his Marxist philosophy and copying Joseph Stalin's purge of the Soviet military in 1941.  That purge by Stalin was to consolidate his power.  One would be hard pressed NOT to think Mr. Obama might be motivated by the same motivating principle as Stalin.  Stalin wanted a military that answered only to him -- and him alone.

We cannot allow any President to create a Praetorian Guard of our military.

There has never been an attempted coup by the US military.  How do I know?  Because had there been -- it would have been successful.  They have shown remarkable restraint over the past nearly two-and-half centuries.  But today there is restlessness in the ranks -- both upper and lower.

The US military, the Army, the Navy, Marines, the Air Force, the Coast Guard,  and all the Reserve forces need our help.  The least we can do is contact our Congressperson and demand that they investigate and get to the bottom of Obama's purge of the military and restore the necessary funds to rebuild our military and finally, Congress should repeal, or in some other way, remove homosexuals from serving openly in the US military and remove women from combat roles in all the services.

The US military has defended America for 250 years, or so.  Don't you think it's about time we Americans came to the defense of our troops?

Yarrington Ruvalcaba, Former Tamaulipas Governor Indicted For Money Laundering And Bank Fraud

Tomas Jesus Yarrington Ruvalcaba and Fernando Alejandro Cano Martinez

U.S. federal authorities are seeking information on the whereabouts of both Ruvalcaba and Martinez who were indicted for conspiracy to defraud banks and money laundering.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 2, 2013

Brownsville, Texas - On Monday,  U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Texas unsealed an indictment charging both Tomas Jesus Yarrington Ruvalcaba, 56, a former Tamaulipas governor and his associate Fernando Alejandro Cano Martinez, 57, from the City of Juarez, Tamaulipas with conspiracy to defraud banks and money laundering. The indictment charges Ruvalcaba and Martinez, the owner of Materiales y Construcciones Villa de Aguayo, S.A. de C.V., a Mexican construction firm, with conspiring to violate the provisions of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) statute. The two men are also charged with conspiracy to launder money, conspiracy to defraud, and conspiracy to make false statements to federally insured U.S. banks.
Ruvalcaba is also separately charged with a conspiracy to violate the provisions of the Controlled Substances Act, two substantive bank fraud charges, and a conspiracy to structure currency transactions at a domestic financial institution, while Martinez is separately charged with three counts of bank fraud.
In May 2012, a previous indictment states that Ruvalcaba began to accept bribes from drug traffickers in 1998. Martinez conspired to created a variety of corporate entities in the U.S. to launder money paid by the Gulf Cartel to corrupt high level public elected Mexican officials and candidates for public office in Tamaulipas.
"Millions worth of assets, primarily in Texas real estate were aquired in the scheme. Martinez is also accused of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to the indictment, Martinez and others also engaged in a separate conspiracy in the acquisition of loans from financial institutions by submitting false financial information to the banks in order to obtain the loans.
"At the same time the indictment against Martinez was returned, civil actions were filed by United States Attorney's Offices in the Southern and Western Districts of Texas. In Corpus Christi, Texas, a civil complaint was filed regarding real estate property allegedly owned by Ruvalcaba. Ruvalcaba was the former mayor of Matamoros, former governor of Tamaulipas from 1999 to 2004 and a former presidential candidate for Mexico. In the complaint, it is alleged that Ruvalcaba used illicit proceeds to purchase a condominium located in South Padre Island, Texas, using a third party to conduct the $450,000 transaction and hold title.
"In San Antonio, the United States Attorney's Office is filing a civil action regarding a single property, purchased in 2006 for approximately $6.6 million, that was allegedly obtained with illicit funds by Ruvalcaba, Martinez and others," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Texas.
Ruvalcaba also allegedly smuggled cocaine into the U.S. from 2007 to 2009. If convicted, Ruvalcaba is facing up to 20 years in prison for money laundering, 30 years for bank fraud and 10 years for the drug charge.
Martinez, if convicted of three counts for bank fraud is facing up to 30 years in prison for each count, 20 years for money laundering and a money judgement of $20M for each count and forfeiture of assets, including an airplane and bank acounts.

It is a great feeling to wear clothes made by you. You know every inch of the fabric, what went wrong and also how you found solutions to make it perfect and in the end you enjoy wearing it! As I mentioned in the post where I presented to you this piece for the first time, this outwear is our first "coat project" and for sure not the last one, I already have plans for the next one :)
Here today I paired (once again) with a monochrome burgundy outfit and I added a pair of mustard heels to break this smooth conversation :) Voila!

Former Rio Grande City Police Sargeant Charged For Molesting Minors

Rodolfo Hinojosa

Hinojosa resigned late last month after allegations surfaced of sexually assaulting two minors.

December 2, 2013

Rio Grande City, Texas - On early Tuesday, former Rio Grande City (RGC) Police Sargeant Rodolfo Hinojosa, 28, surrendered to the Starr County Sheriff's Office after a judge issued a felony warrant for his arrest for molesting several minors. Hinojosa was booked and charged with two felony counts of sexual assault in connection with having sexual contact with two under age girls, according to the criminal complaint.
Starr County authorities began investigating Hinojosa after sexual assault allegations were reported to authorities about a month ago. Hinojosa was an 7-year veteran with the RGC Police Department.
A judge set a bail bond of $200,000 for Hinojosa. He remains in custody, according to the Starr County District Attorney's office.

holiday pushers

We are officially in the thick of it people. Thanksgiving is behind us (in the US), Chanukah is wrapping up and Christmas is coming. Cue the hysteria. I made an effort to not get online over the Thanksgiving holiday, not even my phone, and it was kind of like a digital master cleanse. It felt damn good I have to say and when we got home last night from a weekend of traveling and I was ready to gear up for Christmas. I didn't feel behind or stressed, I just felt...holiday-ish.

Then I sat down to my laptop and the stress settled in. Holy crap. I've gotten a wicked number of emails and articles and announcements telling me I can get 15% off here, 50% off there, use these coupon codes on these days, and jump three times in place while drinking water and tapping your head. And that doesn't even crack the book on all of the gift guides. Oy! I am on overload already and it is only December 2nd.

How do you manage all your holiday cheer? Do you keep up with all of the 'advice' or just go with what you know? What % lures you in to a sale? (I got an email for 7% off and let me tell you, that is NOT a sale. That's just foolish)
