VIDEO:Issa Disputes NYT Whitewash Benghazi Report

Once again the NY Times is acting as defense counsel for the Obama administration instead of objective journalists.  They have no credibility whatsoever!

Talking Points Memo reports chairman of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on Sunday disagreed with some of the conclusions in the New York Times investigation on Benghazi, specifically that the attack was fueled in part by an anti-Islamic American video.

"It was never about a video," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

The New York Times did not find any evidence throughout its investigation that al Qaeda was involved in the attack, even if other regional terrorist groups carried out the attack.
Issa has claimed that al Qaeda was involved in the attack, and still claims that a group affiliated with the terrorist organization founded by Osama Bin Laden attacked the U.S. consulate.

"There was a group that was involved that was affiliated with al Qaeda," Issa said. "It is not about al Qaeda as the only terrorist organization."

David Kirkpatrick, the journalist who authored the Times report, said on Sunday that even if the attack was carried out by an anti-Western terrorist group inspired by al Qaeda, it was not organized by al Qaeda itself.

"There's just no chance that this was an al Qaeda attack," Kirkpatrick said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "It was an armed terrorist attack motivated in large part by the video."

Mexican Gulf Cartel Openly Gave Pizza And Gifts On Christmas Eve To Poor In Tampico

Hundreds of poor people from Tampico flocked to different areas of the city to get free pizza and gifts from members of the Gulf Cartel in public without any police or military presence.

December 29, 2013

Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico -  A video released on December 27, by the Gulf Cartel shows that its members from the criminal organization were out busy on Christmas Eve giving out free pizza and gifts to the same population that it extorts, traffic drugs too, kidnaps for ransom and kills for profit. The Christmas Eve cheer and the distribution of gifts was held in various popular places, including at parking lot near the Carlos Canseco Hospital, across from the main bus terminal, near the Social Security building and other areas.
Those distributing food and gifts used at least four pickup trucks and carried their weapons openly, according to people who witnessed the event. No injuries were reported.
Local police in the area, including the Federal Police, ministry police, state police and the Mexican military didn't even attempt to interfere with the Gulf Cartel's mission to give out free pizza and gifts to the needy on Christmas Eve.

How to avoid being a victim of the scam says RCMP ask for $100.00 to unlock computer DONT PAY IT!

How to avoid being a victim of the scam says RCMP ask for $100.00 to unlock computer DONT PAY IT!

When Pasqualino De Sanctis got a pop-up on his computer from the RCMP asking him to pay a $100 fine, he figured it was a legitimate request.
Just prior to it, he’d unknowingly clicked on a site infected with a virus while doing research for work, causing nearly 200 pop-up windows featuring pornography to flood his screen.
"As I’m shutting [the windows] down, this pop-up comes up. It says ‘RCMP Internet investigation, you’ve been caught dealing with pornography,’" he said.
"It says you have 12 hours to pay a $100 fine. This is your first offence."
The telecommunications employee was surprised, but according to Daniel Williams of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, it happens a lot more than many Canadians would think.
"Once that warning pops up on your screen, you’re infected," he said.
Williams said his office began receiving calls about this back in February 2012, and has logged at least 2,000 complaints since.
He said between just one and five per cent of people on the receiving end of Internet scams actually report them, so he estimates the actual number of people affected is much higher.
The virus, thought to originate in Eastern Europe, picks up Internet users’ location to make it look as though it’s their local police who have frozen their screens, Williams said.
It was enough to fool De Sanctis.
"It looked legal," he said, referring to the pop-up’s use of the RCMP logo and images of both a male and female officer.

The RCMP is warning Canadians about the scam. (CBC)
He was instructed to go a local Esso gas station and buy a $100 pre-paid card, whose numbers were to be punched into the payment window on the pop-up.
He complied, since he was in the middle of his work day and he was told he would be locked out of his computer until he paid.
He said it threatened to erase his hard drive if he didn’t pay.
But once De Sanctis typed in the number to make the payment, another pop-up appeared prompting him to make a second $100 payment.
That’s when he knew something was up. So he called the RCMP and was transferred to its Internet fraud department.
He was informed he’d been the victim of a malware scam.

How to avoid being a victim of the scam

Williams of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre said by paying the $100 "fine," victims are playing right into the hands of the scammers.
"The number one thing that we beg that consumers do is to not send the money," he said.
"If they do, all they’re doing is making organized crime $100 or $200 richer, and of course the scammers are going to do nothing to remove the virus from your computer."
And to remove it, victims of the scam will have to pay a technician to clean out the virus. Williams said much of the information online about how to remove the malware can actually lead to more malware, not to mention fake solutions.
"Unless you’re really computer savvy, the safest bet would be to bite the bullet and disconnect your computer and have a local technician clean it out thoroughly," he said.
Computer expert and Microbytes franchise owner Joel Cobrin echoed Williams.
"We just saw it two days ago," he said.
"Somebody came in with the exact same screenshot that they got, that the RCMP, quote-unquote, was asking for $100 in order to unlock their computer."
"That person took out the plug, shut down the computer and brought it here, and we took out the virus for her. And several others, because rarely do they come as just one virus," he continued.
He said making sure your computer’s virus protection and operating system are up-to-date is one defence against malware in general, but that isn’t enough.
"Stay away from anybody asking you for money. If you buy something and want to pay, that’s fine, but if anybody asks for money for whatever reason, no no no," he said.
"It’s most probably a virus, or it’s malicious."

Mainstream Hypocrite of the Year Award

7 things you should have learned in 2013 -- but didn't

2. Forecasting doesn't work

Sure, some forecasters get it right. But nobody gets it right frequently enough to be depended upon — so stop using investment bank research as your primary source for buy or sell calls. It will only end in disappointment.

If there is one thing I have learned from this article it is that forecasting doesn't work. Got it.

4. Be careful with long-term bond funds

Rates have rolled back a bit, but you can bet they will rise again at some point in 2014.

This is a bond market forecast intended to entice us into gambling ("you can bet"). If we can safely bet that rates will rise again at some point in 2014, then shorting bond funds is a sure thing. Free money! They are practically giving it away!

7.You can't win if you don't play

Oh yeah, and the S&P is up 25 percent, its best year since 2003.

You think it's really all going to stop NOW, after what we've been through?

This is a stock market forecast that uses uppercase ("NOW") inside a rhetorical question as an emotional debate tactic. Since the S&P 500 has risen dramatically, it is implied that it must continue to rise. Gambling on the S&P 500 is therefore a sure thing. Free money! They are practically giving it away!

"I always say, buy high and sell higher." - Suze Orman, April 2000

In a world where "forecasting doesn't work", I sure hope hindsight is kind to his sure thing bond market forecast and his sure thing stock market forecast.

I'm also a bit surprised that he didn't give us a sure thing climate change forecast for 2014 as well to round out the list. Perhaps weather is not his area of prophecy expertise? Perhaps the all-knowing mainstream Nostradamus sees an ice age coming and he's too afraid to share it with us lest we panic? Perhaps there's just no free money in amazingly accurate climate predictions? The world may never know!

In any event, I sure love the hypocrisy here. There is no way we could have learned all 7 things in 2013. We'd be fools to believe that forecasting doesn't work while simultaneously gambling on two of his forecasts.

Is it an elaborate PARADOX to see if we're paying attention?

Uppercase inside a rhetorical question as an emotional debate tactic for the win! Yes!

This is not investment advice. Seriously. I'd be the last person to suggest I knew for sure where bond yields and stock prices are headed in 2014. As a bond investor, I'm actually hoping he's right and that real rates rise in 2014 (and stay elevated). I could then reinvest at higher rates as my bonds mature. I'm not exactly holding my breath over the long run though. This is one long-term trend that has not been kind to procrastinators. And he, with his omniscient wisdom, has decided to bet against it. Good luck!

I'm not quite done yet. Here's a bonus heckle.

3. Stop buying negative yield TIPS

But please don't let your hyperventilation about hyperinflation lose you money — again — in 2014.

Anyone buying TIPS for hyperinflation defense doesn't understand the first thing about TIPS. TIPS would be a horrible investment during hyperinflation.

1. When held outside a retirement account, you'd have to pay massive taxes on the hyperinflationary gains each and every year. Those taxes could easily ruin you financially over time. Keep in mind that you might very well be forced to sell TIPS bonds just to pay the taxes on them. Ouch.

2. There is a lag. TIPS don't respond instantly to rising inflation. Inflation numbers only come out once a month. Hyperinflation could easily mean that you'd wish they came out hourly. Seriously. Think this through. During extreme hyperinflation, are you really going to be happy getting compensated for what milk prices were a month ago? I think not.

I certainly do not buy long-term TIPS as a hyperinflation defense. That's just being silly. I like TIPS as a real yield defense. I believed and continue to believe that it will be harder and harder to make money off of money in the future. That implies real yields fall. It is actually one of my better calls since starting this blog, cherry-picked 2013 notwithstanding. There were no negative yield TIPS when I was doing most of my buying (before the Great Recession). There certainly are now! It's almost like we're stuck in ZIRP. Go figure.

Once again, this is not investment advice. I do not claim to know the future with any certainty. I can say this though. As of 2004, I am risk averse over the long-term and no longer ever wish to swing for the fences. As a retiree, I have no job to fall back on if my "risk on" bets go against me.

Deputy Inspector Galaviz Retires From The Milwaukee Police Department

Ramon Galaviz

Galaviz was considered as the next likely Chief of Police.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 29, 2013

Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee Police Deputy Inspector Ramon Galaviz retired on December 20. Galaviz last assignment was as a Special Projects Coordinator for the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Administration Bureau. He also worked in the field operations and became head of the police academy for eight years. Galaviz was the second highest ranking Hispanic supervisor for the department.
Galaviz was considered as the next likely Chief of Police by the south side Latino communty. He eventually tried twice to become chief, but the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission failed to select Galaviz as chief.
In 2007, the Commission didn't pick any of the high ranking and well qualified candidates from its own police force, which two were Hispanic including Galaviz and hired an outsider with the support of Mayor Tom Barrett, who they made an exception after the deadline to apply had expired.
Galaviz also made it to the finalist list for Chief of Police in 2003. In 2000, Galaviz was chosen as UMOS Man of the Year. In the same year, his family was chosen as the UMOS Family of the Year.
He is also a well known volunteer for Mexican Mexican Fiesta.
Galaviz had been a Deputy Inspector, since 1996 and joined the Milwaukee Police Department in 1982.
According to the MPD website, Galaviz served under six Chiefs of Police in a variety of capacaties, rising from a beat cop in District Two up to his last assignment as Special Projects Coordinator in the Administration Bureau, with stops in between at the Metropolitan Division, Districts Five and Six, Lock-Up Court Administration Division, the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Internal Affairs. Previous to his last assignment before retiring, he served as a Night Field Deputy Inspector for over five years with operational oversight responsibilities for the entire Department in the absence of the executive command staff.
Additionally he served as the Director of the Police Academy for over eight years from 2/2002 to 5/2010 with administrative and management oversight of recruit, in-service, specialized and Regional Training Center programs for the entire Department.
Deputy Inspector Galaviz, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, had completed two Master of Science Degrees, in Training and Development and in Vocational and Technical Adult Education; two Bachelor of Science Degrees, in Public Administration and Criminal Justice Administration; and two Associate Degrees, in Police Sciences and General Education.
Throughout his career, he has been a strong proponent of collaborative, community-based policing strategies. This philosphy seeks to realize the force-multiplying benefits and efficiencies of the Department's patrol, investigative and civilian resources by working closely with the stakeholders in Milwaukee's neighborhoods.
Deputy Inspector Galaviz proudly wore his country's uniform for 27 years, four years active-duty and with 23 years of active Reserve time, including service in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. In 2004, he retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

Bigotry: A protestor is pictured April 6 2000, in Washington, DC, as Boy Scouts of America were on trial against gay Scoutmaster James Dale

The Boy Scouts of America will accept openly gay youths starting New Year's Day, marking a historic shift that spells major changes to policies on tentmates and showers.
Yet despite their be-prepared approach, BSA leaders are rooting for the change to be a non-event, comparable to another New Year's Day in 2000 when widespread fears of digital-clock chaos to start the new millennium proved unfounded.

‘My hope is there will be the same effect this Jan. 1 as the Y2K scare,’ said Brad Haddock, a BSA national executive board member who chairs the policy implementation committee. ‘It's business as usual, nothing happens and we move forward.’

Currently I'm debating and in the same time digging the "slip dress"trend. I don't consider myself a follower of all the trends that show up every season but certainly I take some inspiration and wear it in my own characteristic way.
Instead of wearing a real nightgown on a daylight (which I will totally do it in the near future, if I find the perfect one) I chose something similar, this flowy silk dress. Again summery pieces don't have to go in the cold season. Speaking of the cold season let's not forget we are in December so this look needed some layers and I must add a fuzzy/ wool  piece, not just for the great effect of two totally different fabrics but to stay warm as well. This was my Christmas Eve look!

Chicago Aunt's Boyfriend Dismembered As Horrific Christmas Present

Alexis Valdez and Silvestre Díaz-Hernández

Valdez killed and decapitated his aunt's boyfriend Díaz-Hernández as a Christmas gift for having him move out.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 27, 2013

Chicago, IL - On Friday, Alexis Valdez, 18, was charged with murder in connection with the early Christmas Day discovery of a decapitated body of Silvestre Díaz-Hernández, 41. Police were called around 2:00 a.m. to a Belmont Gardens neighborhood apartment where Díaz-Hernández was found in the basement at his apartment located in the 2500 block of North Kildare Ave.
Valdez within minutes was taken into custdy near the apartment without incident and charged with first-degree murder. Police recovered a knife believed to have been used by Valdez to murder and decapitate Díaz-Hernández, who was from Guerrero, Mexico.
Valdez admitted to killing his aunt's boyfriend after she had told him to move out of their apartment. He failed to stay in school, find a job and contribute to the household needs.
Both Valdez and Díaz-Hernández after drinking on Christmas Eve and heading out to get more alcohol to drink, Valdez planned to kill Díaz-Hernández while his aunt was attending another Christmas party.
When they returned to the apartment, Valdez grabbed a hammer from the porch where he hid it and fatally hit Díaz-Hernández in the head multiple times. Valdez then played loud music to hide the noise as he decapitated his victim's head, cut off his ears, nose and mouth, including his arms, legs and only leaving the torso. Valdez also forcibly pulled out the victim's eyeballs with his bare fingers.
Valdez then took the severe head, nose, ears, mouth, eyeballs and placed them in his aunt's bed as a Christmas present, according to the criminal complaint.
Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas ordered Valdez held without bail. Valdez murder and admission to brutally killing his aunt's boyfriend and then dismembering the body is the most gruesome case recorded in Cook County's history.
Cook County assistant prosecutor Kingsley Sawyers says, Valdez after the murder got tired and called 911 to report a dead body, when the 911 operator asked, if he tried CPR, Valdez laughed and told the operator, Díaz-Hernández had been decapitated.
Valdez also admitted, that if his aunt would have come home and found the severe head, he would have also killed her, according to Sawyers.
Díaz-Hernández is survived by a 17-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son and four step children.

Part II
Definitely my favorite Holiday is Christmas for so many reasons. It is all about family and close friends, cozy dinners and spending precious moments around the Christmas tree with the loved ones.
Dressing attire must include a red piece or, why not, red from head to toe (like my look :)
This year we were lucky enough to enjoy all these and here are some moments captured by Bogdan and I from our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
I hope you all had a Bright and Merry Christmas!

Bigotry Backlash Keeps Duck Dynasty Show Alive

Duck Dynasty continues, despite bigotry controversy about gays.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 27, 2013

Tennessee - A&E confirmed, that the now known bigoted "Duck Dynasty" show with all the Robertson family will resume reassuring the network tolerance for bigotry and ratings by racist America.
Phil Robertson, one of the cast members of Duck Dynasty made a prior comment to GQ Magazine comparing homosexuality to bestiality. In response, A&E indefinitely suspended Phil from the show.
His comment on GQ resulted in a backslash and the rest of the show cast stood in support of Phil's statement. But most Americans called it bigotry that breeds hate towards the gay and lesbian U.S. population.
