Marco Rubio stares down the barrel of a North Korean soldier's camera lens

Very deftly Marco Rubio is quietly getting some foreign policy street cred for a possible 2016 run for the GOP nod. I like Rubio a lot. He may have gotten burned by the Gang of 8 on immigration reform, but time heals all wounds.

NY Daily News reports Marco Rubio came face to face with a North Korean soldier Thursday at the DMZ but his Communist counterpart didn't see the Republican as much of a menace, ditching a gun for a camera to snap the Senator's pic.

Rubio (R-Fla.) appears somewhat dumbfounded as he stares through the thick glass at the "the edge of freedom," that separates Kim Jong-un's territory from South Korea.
The GOP star hit Korea on the last stop of his weeklong Asia tour, that also included stops in the Philippines and Japan.

The 42-year-old is likely trying raise his foreign policy credentials before many suspect he throws his hat in the ring for a White House bid.

Victims of Maryland mall shooting identified as Brianna Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25

Prayers go out to the families of dead!

USA Todayreports a gunman opened fire in a crowded suburban shopping mall Saturday, leaving three people dead and setting off panic as hundreds of fear-stricken shoppers and mall employees raced for cover.

The suspect, armed with a shotgun, was among the victims at The Mall in Columbia, Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said. Police said a fourth victim was being treated for a gunshot wound to the foot. Four other people either suffered from medical conditions or suffered minor injuries such as twisted ankles, he said.

Brianna Benlolo, 21, of College Park, Md., and Tyler Johnson, 25, of Ellicott City, Md., were killed, police said. The identity of the gunman had not been released.

McMahon said the bodies were found in Zumiez, an apparel store catering to skaters, surfers and snowboarders, on the mall's upper level. Benlolo and Johnson were employees of the store, he said. The shooter's body was found still laden with ammunition, so McMahon said caution was being used.

Vacaville firebomb pastor Mark Lewis suspected of using church funds for bail

The Reporter reports Vacaville pastor Mark Lewis is once again behind bars, after Solano County authorities executed a search warrant at his Farrell Road home Friday afternoon to determine whether he used church funds to post bail two weeks ago.

Lewis, 39, was arrested on suspicion of fraud after the District Attorney's Office began investigating the source of funds he used to post $500,000 bail following his Jan. 10 arrest in connection to the firebombing of an ex-girlfriend's home, said Lt. John Carli with the Vacaville Police Department.

About 2 p.m. Friday, investigators with the DA's Office executed the search warrant with assistance from the Vacaville Police Department's Crime Suppression Team and the Sheriff's Office, which has jurisdiction of the rural residence in the 3300 block of Farrell Road. They were expected to remain there well into the evening.
"Information came into the hands of the District Attorney's Office, because of the bail and the high amount and how the process works, that they began an independent investigation for his bail," Carli explained.

"Through this whole process, their investigation has uncovered evidence of fraud ... as it pertains to loans that may be related to the church," Carli stated. "So this search warrant is looking into his bail and any other evidence that would tie the church to his bail."
Carli said he could not speak to the details of what Lewis had disclosed concerning the source of his bail money. When posting high amounts of bail, suspects are required to state where the money comes from.

This individual has often contemplated the reason(s) the state should have anything to do with marriage. I was always just a bit puzzled as to why the state, being secular and not involved with religious rites in any way, would concern itself with marriage.

Putting that aside for a different discussion on a different day I must say I was amused to find that Oklahoma conservatives have put forth the idea of banning ALL marriages in the Okie state.

What is not at all surprising is that this move is a back alley maneuver by sate conservatives to keep same sex unions illegal in the state. Rep. Mike Turner (R-Edmond) admitted as much.

Issue not Income Inequality, but Income-Period!

President Obama is drowning in a sea of discontent. Poor guy can’t seem to get his message across that things aren’t so bad after all if only people would stop watching Fox news or listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Sorry Mr. President but 93 million American don’t have a job.
That’s a stunning statistic that’s a first in U.S. history. The reason this country is in the woeful economic shape it’s in is sitting behind his desk at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. That is if he’s not playing his 161 round of golf.

It’s Obama’s economic policies, or lack thereof that’s killing jobs. Oh, he’s had job summit at the White House but those are merely photo ops for the media. Bottom line, Obama doesn’t know how to create a job and none of his top advisors do either because they’re all academics straight off the faulty lounges at Harvard or Yale. These people don’t know the real world and the results we’ve seen for the past six years are an indictment of their economic ignorance.

What Obama and his inept cohorts know how to do is theorize. And their latest theorization for what’s plaguing the country is, wait for it, income inequality. But, this is nothing more than a Harvard plated bait and switch. Yes, incomes are unequal and they are supposed to be. Doctors are supposed to make more money than burger flippers. The key question is how does one become the doctor instead of the burger flipper?

The answer to the question is obvious but don’t expect President Obama to really address it. He instead will shake shinny toys and talk about how the incomes of the rich are so much greater than the poor and government is needed to fix it (see wealth redistribution). He’ll offer a false Utopia and he single out the 1% as the culprits for us not getting there.

It’s all snake oil that absolves him from the conditions he created in the first place. The best anti-poverty program is a job.

But, Democrats derive their power from more people not working and that’s the dirty little secret that needs to get know pretty quick before Obama pisses on all our heads and calls it rain.

Governor Walker Preferred Not To Recognize A Sex Offender Felon For Successfully Holding A Job In Wisconsin

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel exposed Barber's record after Governor Walker recognized him for successfully finding and holding a job in Wisconsin during the Governor's State of the State speech.

Madison, WI - On Wednesday, Governor Scott Walker (R) during his State of the State speech recognized 13 Wisconsinites for successfully finding and holding jobs in the state. The newly hired workers were recommended to be recognized for their skills and achievements by their employers. The Walker administration had invited credible employers to recommend newly hired employees to be recognized for their achievement and successfully being employed in Wisconsin.

One of them was Christopher Barber, 32, of Two Rivers who Walker recognized and applauded his success in front of the legislators and public for finding a job and getting hired during Walker's job creation initiative. Barber wearing his welding gear even waved to everyone at the Assembly chamber and then left the podium.

Afterwards, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (MJS) later exposed Barber as a registered sex offender, a felon and three convictions for DWI. Barber admitted in his Facebook account that he has never voted and is not registered to vote.
When Governor Walker was asked, if he knew that Barber was a sex offender? Walker told the Wisconsin State Journal (WSJ) that he was upset and frustrated that a felon was allowed to stand along side him during his speech. Walker would have preferred one of the many other thousands of newly hired workers with a clean record to have been chosen instead of a sex offender and a felon.

Walker during his speech said, "Every time we help someone find a job, it makes for a strong home, a strong community, and a strong state." But, it seems felons who have paid their time to society for their crimes and attempt to integrate back into society as a productive and successful worker are not included in Walker's success stories. Did Walker open the back door to acknowledge that the entire rehabilitation process of the state correctional system has failed to rehabilitate former felons? Then why waste millions of dollars to rehabilitate felons when in fact, they are stigmatized by their own governor, the MJS and a segment of society, which brands them for life for one simple reason, so, they can fail again.

Barber was placed on the spotlight and now must prove himself that Walker is wrong in not seriously recognizing his success to move on. Will Walker apologize to Barber for having second thoughts and wishing someone else without a record should have been picked instead of Barber?

Ariens Company in Brillion, Barber's employer, picked Barber to represent them because of his success to take a welder's training and an employee who had been unemployed and was hired at the company. Ann Stilp, Ariens spokeswoman in a press release stated, "We recommended him because he demonstrated initiative in turning seasonal employment into full-time employment and used training to advance to a welder position within the company. We did this based on his job performance as an employee since December of 2012. As part of recommending him for the speech, we did not know the details of his record." Stilp also stated that the company is now reviewing its hiring process.

Walker's sudden reaction after discovering that Barber was a sex offender is shameful for not giving credit to Barber for staying out of trouble and leading a productive life. Also, it is very shameful that the MJS exposed his record and didn't even give credit that Barber has led a productive life after paying his debt to society.

The MJS reported that Barber was convicted of third-degree sexual assault in 2005 and was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Shame on Governor Scott Walker and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

So Christopher Barber is a sex offender, convicted of two felonies and three DWI's. Barber who was unemployed for a while was recognized as an economic success who had been hired as a welder at Ariens, a Wisconsin company.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) recognized Barber during his State of the State speech and now Barber's recognition draws controversial criticism. Well, Barber even though he is registered sex offender and a felon has shown Wisconsin citizens that people can change, work and shouldn't be criminalized indefinitely, especially when they did their time.
Walker's administration is now saying they didn't do a background check on Barber after his company recommended him as a success to be recognized by Walker. So, what does that have to do with being a success in Wisconsin. He should be used as an example of success through rehabilitation one might say.

Shame on Walker, now he wished Barber should have been replace by someone with a clean record. Also shame on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (MJS) for exposing Barber's criminal record to discredit him and indicating that anyone with a felony or a registered sex offender can't be productive or successful in Wisconsin.

Both Governor Walker and the MJS do a disservice to the Wisconsin by discriminating anyone with a record. A sad day for Wisconsin.
