Interesting Divergence Between ADP and Establishment Survey

The following chart compares ADP's version of employment (in blue) with the government's establishment survey version (in red, minus government jobs).

There is a clear divergence lately. Let's take a closer look.

I haven't been following this divergence long enough to form a theory on why it is there, and without that it is difficult to offer useful commentary. Won't stop me from trying though! Here are two potential reasons off the top of my head.

1. The divergence is always there but it gets revised away over time (the older data is corrected). If that's the case, no big deal.

2. The divergence is valid and the establishment survey is coming down to close the gap. There was a weak establishment report in December and, as seen in the chart, that certainly closed the gap to some degree.

In any event, I would suggest that there is headline risk for tomorrow's employment report. If the gap closes more, then the report will disappoint.

Here's the most optimistic thing I've said on this blog in a long time. If the report is much weaker than expected (big if) and if everyone points out how exceedingly weak the report therefore is, then I would say that they may be overreacting. It might just be a correction to close a divergence and little more. It's not like the ADP report itself looks all that awful (not great either for that matter).

That said, no single straw on a camel's back thinks it is responsible for the collapse. Things could get ugly. Real ugly. Perhaps all it takes is an illusionary straw to break the camel's illusionary prosperity? Who can say for sure?

This is definitely not investment advice, nor is it a prediction of any sort. I can say that I have never been more interested in a government payroll report though. Never.

Missing Stradivarius Violin Recovered From Bay View Apartment By Milwaukee Police

Stradivarius violin

Salah I. Salahadyn and Universal K. Allah

Milwaukee police recovered a missing rare violin in the South side.

By H. Nelson Goodson
February 6, 2014

Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Milwaukee confirmed that the missing Stradivarius violin, which was stolen had been recovered in an over night search by police at a Bay View residence at the 400 block of East Smith Street where Salah I. Salahadyn, 41, had a friend store a suitcase in the attic. Salahadyn told police where it was placed in a plea agreement for reduced charges. The violin was found in good shape, according to police.
Salahadyn was charged in 1999 for stealing a small statue in 1995 from a downtown gallery. A $100,000 reward was being offered for its recovery.
Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn confirmed during a press conference on Wednesday, that three suspects, including a woman had been arrested in connection with the January 27 stolen Stradivarius violin worth between $6 to $10 million. Salahadyn and Universal K. Allah, 36, and a woman, 32, were taken into custody on Monday morning after information and evidence, a Taser and Taser Probe connected Allah to the armed robbery. Salahadyn was known by police for a similar art theft in November 1995, when a small statue by Nicolas Africano was stolen from the Michael Lord Gallery at the Pfister Hotel. Salahadyn after four years later called the gallery owner to see, if he wanted to buy it back. The owner called police and Salahadyn was arrested.
Criminal charges are pending against the three local suspects, according to Flynn. G. B. Jones, acting FBI special agent-in-charge of the Milwaukee field office also said, that they have the suspects involved in the violin theft.
A $100K reward was being offered for information leading to its recovery.
The Stradivarius 1715 rare violin was reported stolen at a parking lot located at the Wisconsin Lutheran College. Police say that Frank Almond, the concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra along with other members had just finished a performance and were walking to their car in the parking when the robbery occured.  A suspect approached Almond and used a taser on him, it caused him to drop the violin. The suspect then picked up the violin and fled the scene in a mini van near by, which was driven by second suspect.
Several hours later, the violin case was found iat Washington Park, including an iPad, police say. The violin was the primary target, Chief Flynn said, during the press conference.
The violin is likely the most valuable single item ever stolen in the Milwaukee area, but the value is only appreciated by few collectors.
"It is important to note that this violin is valuable to a very small number of people in the world and is not something easily sold for what it is worth," according to police.

BOMBSHELL: ObamaCare turning cancer patients away

It was never about the website roll out.
The true horror of Obamacare is that it is third world medical care.  That’s what President Obama and the Democrats have created and they own 100% of it.  Much of what’s happening was forewarned by bloogers like me.  But, thanks to the corrupt media who intentionally failed to report the truth because they’re in cahoots with Obama are also getting exposed as hacks that cannot be trusted.

New de Blasio Policy: 1200 fired NYC teachers who committed wrong doing , unsatisfactory evaluations back in classrooms, Black and Latino students hurt the worst

This is what black and Latino voters are getting for their votes, bad teachers for their children.  Bad enough Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to downsize Charters schools that offer minority children better educations.  A new slap in the face to people of color is horrible teachers to teach their kids in a already failing public school system.

NY Daily News reports City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña has had internal discussions with her staff about placing most of the 1,200 educators in full-time teaching jobs even though about half have disciplinary histories or unsatisfactory ratings, sources said.

A pool of teachers whom principals don’t want to hire may be headed back into the classroom, the Daily News has learned.

City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña has had internal discussions with her staff about placing most of the 1,200 educators in full-time teaching jobs even though about half have disciplinary histories or unsatisfactory ratings, sources said.

The move would be a sharp reversal of a policy instituted under Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2005 to have the teachers rotate as subs instead of foisting them on principals who didn’t want them

But moving the teachers back into classrooms would save the city an estimated $100 million a year — money that could be allocated elsewhere.

The unassigned teachers lost their full-time jobs for a variety of reasons — 25% committed wrongdoing, 25% received an “unsatisfactory” rating, 40% worked in schools that closed or downsized and 10% teach subjects that are no longer offered in schools.
They are different from the so-called rubber room staff who are banned from the classroom.

GOLD price likely to rise to $2,000 and above very soon

GOLD is turning to SAFE HAVEN STATUS

SILVER also to make headlines soon

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gold-bugs-patient-time-coming-034014270.html

Coin shops and bullion dealers across America are starting to show signs of interest in gold and silver again.  Stop in any coin shop or visit a local coin auction and find out for yourself what is going on now.  What will you see?  Go look.  I was at an auction recently and watched people buy mostly SILVER but some GOLD items and they were almost fighting over the products.

It appears Americans are increasingly nervous and are becoming more aware of dangerous economic conditions that threaten the financial solvency of every working class American.  Marc Faber recently suggested that The Federal Reserve is actually creating a TWO CLASS SYSTEM of people here in America.  Having thus said we still have a fair amount of well to do people in the U.S.A.
http://news-these-days.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-federal-reserve-is-creating-two.html

I learned recently that many well to do people are making very large purchases of gold.  For those who cannot afford GOLD they are resorting to SILVER which is also making some headlines again in the financial news.
One of two major precious metals dealers that I spoke to reported a $14 MILLION sale of gold in one day and another reported several multimillion dollar purchases of a combination of gold and silver in one business day also.

Signs of a GOLD and SILVER rush beginning

What is going on here?   We may be about to find out and it looks like several people who have been warning of the coming financial crisis may not be as far out there as previously thought:
http://news-these-days.blogspot.com/2014/02/gold-moves-into-safe-haven-status.html

Also watch for any news coming out of Dubai and various countries in and around the middle east regarding a large move on hoarding precious metals.  There is already a large GOLD market there but what's interesting is this growing market for SILVER never before seen in that region.  SILVER is actually selling for double what it costs the consumer here in the U.S.A.  For example an American Silver Eagle is selling in Dubai for over $40 in U.S. DOLLARS and at times even $50 and $55.
http://news-these-days.blogspot.com/2014/02/dubai-is-buying-loads-of-silver.html

Another prominent precious metals and financial professional that hasn't been in the news lately is Jim Sinclair.  Sinclair who is President and CEO of Tanzanian Royalty Exploration company has been doing some major business deals in Africa. Jim Sinclair is also heavily involved in some far east interests in the precious metals industry.  I suspect there's going to be a report coming soon on all of this and by that time the prices will be moving steadily to the upside.

Watch The U.S. STOCK MARKET levels

Besides a growing interest in precious metals but there's also a growing concern with recent STOCK MARKET activity and some rather sizable selling that is occurring in larger equities.  International known financial spokesman Marc Faber explains some price levels to watch on the S&P500 INDEX and explains his position for signs of a 20 to 30% market correction:

The Economic Collapse and False Flag UPDATE

More on the state of the economy

Here in the U.S.A. our RETAIL SECTOR is starting to show signs of shutting down.  Some of the stores that I know making the news which are closing stores and showing signs of potential shutdown are all the dollar stores including Family Dollar, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree, J.C. Penny, Best Buy and now Radio Shack.

Even Walmart recently reported some losses so we are going to see more waves of UNEMPLOYMENT and RETAIL SHUTDOWNS making the news.  Apparently all we need eventually is ONLINE SALES with Amazon and just in time production as THE INTERNET OF EVERYTHING takes over our lives:

U.S. Postal Service makes GIANT AMMUNITION PURCHASE

Goin' Postal?

Just a side note here on The News UNIT

Here's the song that ended my 20 years of Federal Service and made me a POTENTIAL TERRORIST and cost me my financial ruin...

WARNING:  This song could make you a domestic terrorist...

Can someone tell me what the song above has to do with "GOIN' POSTAL" and shooting people?  But I digress...let's find out what the U.S. POSTAL SERVICE is doing below now.  Buying ammunition?  Come on!  Really?

There actually is a store called "GOIN' POSTAL" that is a packaging service found nationwide:

My former co-workers can go to their own place now.  God will deal with them and find them wanting.  I'm looking forward now to God's wrath being poured out upon the wicked as they are turned into hell:

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
--PSALM 9.17

And so now we have the U.S. Postal Service making a giant purchase of ammunition.  I thought the U.S. Postal Service was broke and was going to shut down various locations across the country.  Now they all of the sudden have money again and this time to purchase ammunition.  What is this all about really?  It's just getting more and more weird...

Republicans Flirting with Disaster ... J. D. Longstreet

Republicans Flirting with Disaster ... J. D. Longstreet
Republicans Flirting with Disaster
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

***************
From WOP's to Wet-Backs to illegal aliens to undocumented immigrants,  the fact remains -- they broke the law.  (By the way, for the young amongst us, WOP is an acronym.  It stands for WithOut Papers.)

Recently US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is reported to have said that referring to illegal aliens as "criminals" seems insulting to her.  That may be, but the fact remains they broke US law, therefore they ARE criminals.

Consider this from an article entitled:  Sotomayor: Labeling Illegal Immigrants Criminals Is Insulting:  "Sotomayor was asked at a talk at Yale Law School later in the day about her use of the term “undocumented immigrants” rather than the traditional illegal alien. Sotomayor characterized the issue as a regulatory problem and said labeling immigrants criminals seemed insulting to her.

I think people then paint those individuals as something less than worthy human beings and it changes the conversation,” Sotomayor said."
-- SOURCE:  http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/02/04/sotomayor-labeling-illegal-immigrants-criminals-is-insulting/

Here's the thing:  WHICH "conversation" is Justice Sotomayor listening to, and/or taking part in?  Because, you see,  the conversation I most often hear is the one about the criminals breaking and entering our country across our southern border with Mexico.  Oh, and I might add that silly politically correct nomenclature used by Justice Sotomayor as in: "undocumented immigrants" incites belly laughs of derision for the leftist airheads who insist on using such infantile language to justify illegal activities by the less fortunate of other countries who choose to compound their current station in life by becoming criminals in an adjoining country.
The conversation I most often hear decries the cost to US taxpayers of supporting the illegal aliens.

In an article entitled:  "The Fiscal Cost of Unlawful Immigrants and Amnesty to the U.S. Taxpayer" written by Robert Rector and Jason Richwine, Ph.D. at heritage.org we learn this:  "In 2010, the average unlawful immigrant household received around $24,721 in government benefits and services while paying some $10,334 in taxes. This generated an average annual fiscal deficit (benefits received minus taxes paid) of around $14,387 per household. This cost had to be borne by U.S. taxpayers. Amnesty would provide unlawful households with access to over 80 means-tested welfare programs, Obamacare, Social Security, and Medicare. The fiscal deficit for each household would soar."  -- SOURCE:  http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/05/the-fiscal-cost-of-unlawful-immigrants-and-amnesty-to-the-us-taxpayer

From that same article we learn this:  "The typical unlawful immigrant is 34 years old. After amnesty, this individual will receive government benefits, on average, for 50 years. Restricting access to benefits for the first 13 years after amnesty therefore has only a marginal impact on long-term costs.

If amnesty is enacted, the average adult unlawful immigrant would receive $592,000 more in government benefits over the course of his remaining lifetime than he would pay in taxes.

Over a lifetime, the former unlawful immigrants together would receive $9.4 trillion in government benefits and services and pay $3.1 trillion in taxes. They would generate a lifetime fiscal deficit (total benefits minus total taxes) of $6.3 trillion. (All figures are in constant 2010 dollars.) This should be considered a minimum estimate. It probably understates real future costs because it undercounts the number of unlawful immigrants and dependents who will actually receive amnesty and underestimates significantly the future growth in welfare and medical benefits."
-- SOURCE:  http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/05/the-fiscal-cost-of-unlawful-immigrants-and-amnesty-to-the-us-taxpayer

Not only is the US being invaded by a virtual army of illegal aliens, the US taxpayer is being taken to the cleaners as well.

While Congressmen are reassuring their electorate back home that no immigration reform bill will pass the House this year, it seems Republicans and Democrats, from the House and Senate,  are meeting secretly in an attempt to reach an agreement on immigration reform, which will, no doubt, provide a pathway to citizenship.

Consider this from politico.com:  "It sometimes seems like House Republicans are in their own universe when it comes to rewriting the nation’s immigration laws. But since late last year, key House Republicans have been meeting with House and Senate Democrats as they try to reach a deal." -- SOURCE:  http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/immigration-chuck-schumer-paul-ryan-103057.html#ixzz2sN1cUXOW

It is important to note, I think, that Speaker  Boehner and Congressman Paul Ryan have both advocated for some form of legislation this year. Read more here: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/immigration-chuck-schumer-paul-ryan-103057_Page2.html#ixzz2sN3LbaSL

According to the article at politico.com: "Activists from United We Dream, a broad network of young immigrants, fanned out all over Capitol Hill and visited roughly 50 House Democratic and Republican offices, distributing a list of their own principles for immigration reform. Topping their list: a “meaningful and inclusive path to citizenship for undocumented Americans.”  -- SOURCE: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/immigration-chuck-schumer-paul-ryan-103057_Page2.html#ixzz2sN4EJb57

OK.  So, the GOP wants us to believe there will be no agreement this year.  But do you trust them?  I don't.

And why, in the world does the GOP think Hispanics and Asians are going to vote for republicans?  What the deuce are they smoking up there on the hill?

Reading a few nationally recognized polls should shed some light on the liberalism of Hispanics and Asians and their dislike of capitalism.  For instance, in this article from National Review we learn the following:  "The 2008 National Annenberg Election Survey found that 62 percent of immigrants prefer a single, government-run health-care system. The 2010 Cooperative Congressional Election Study found that 69 percent of immigrants support Obamacare. Pew also found that 53 percent of Hispanics have a negative view of capitalism, the highest of any group surveyed. This is even higher than the 47 percent among self-identified supporters of Occupy Wall Street.

The Pew Research Center has also found that 75 percent of Hispanics prefer a “bigger government providing more services,” and only 19 percent prefer a smaller government. Pew also reported that 55 percent of Asians prefer “bigger government providing more services,” and only 36 percent prefer a smaller government. So it’s no surprise that in 2012, 71 percent of Hispanics and 73 percent of Asians voted for Obama."
-- SOURCE:  http://www.nationalreview.com/article/370166/liberal-newcomers-phyllis-schlafly
Let me be clear:  If the House passes an immigration  reform bill before November, the Republicans can write off the 2014 election. It will be over.  The GOP will lose its chance to win control of the Senate and may, in fact, lose control of the House, because conservative republicans -- and independents -- will stay home in utter disgust.

N.Y. Bachata Singer Jimmy Bauer Gets Probation After Serving Three Years In Santo Domingo Prison

Jaime Vargas, aka, Jimmy Bauer

Vargas was convicted for trying to smuggle heroin into the U.S.

By H. Nelson Goodson
February 6, 2014

San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic - On Tuesday, Dominican Judge Rosa Esther Mejía Roca granted probation to Jaime Vargas, aka, Jimmy Bauer, a popular New York Bachata singer after serving three years, one month and 21 days in a dominican prison for a heroin smuggling conviction in 2012. Vargas was born in New York. He told the judge that he plans to get back into his singing career and wants to be a productive citizen.
Under the supervised conditions, Vargas was restricted from leaving the country, must live in Herrera, Santo Domingo, must get a job, was barred from bars or night clubs, can't do drugs or consume alcohol, stay with his sponsor and must report three times a month to his probation supervisor. He was also fined $50,000 pesos (U.S. $1,282.16) and must pay $25,000 pesos upfront and $1,000 pesos each month until his conditions for probation are fulfilled.
If Vargas fails to abide by his conditions of parole. He will serve the remainder of his sentence with no credit of probation accumulated days, according to court records.
Vargas was charged for drug trafficking and trying to smuggle heroin into the U.S. Vargas had been held in jail since, November 1, 2010 after being arrested for trying to smuggle one kilo of heroin (88 pellets) in his stomach, known as "Mule Smuggling."
He collapsed at the Santo Domingo International Las Americas Airport when detained for suspicous behavior and minutes after, a small pellet full of heroin ruptured inside his stomach. The rupture caused an overdose that almost killed Vargas.
Vargas later admitted that he tried to smuggle the heroin, because he was broke, having financial problems and wanted some quick cash to make a bachata music video, according to the criminal complaint. If Vargas would have made the flight to the U.S., most likely he wouldn't have survived the flight, according to authorities.
