Baroque inspired with Lulu's.com

I'm happy to share with you all, my newest project where I will combine Art & Fashion in my outfits. I teamed up with Lulu's.com who was so kind and let me chose 4 looks from their online site, each one representing one artistic current. This month, you will see 4 outfits, one outfit each week. The most inspirational artistic currents for me at this moment are: Art Deco, Impressionism, Fauvism and Baroque here presented today.
Baroque is probably one of the most featured artistic current these days in fashion. Dolce & Gabbana, Aquilano Rimondi, Marchesa and Ralph Lauren are just a few that translate this extravagantly ornate style into the fashion. Opulent ornaments mostly in black and gold, rich and delicate materials as brocard's, lace or silk are hard to resist when you want to obtain a dramatic look. You don't have to go all the way baroque, just take the elements that you like the most and incorporate them in your every day look or just add accessories instead of clothes.
Here is my interpretation of Baroque style and I will like to hear your opinion !

happy blog birthday

This is a glimpse into me, and I perfect example of my non-blogging life. I forgot my blog birthday. It was two weeks ago (better late than never). I am not at all good with dates and not big on birthdays.

But I DO want to take a minute to thank all of you. I had small but specific plans for this little blog - a chance for me to get back to writing and a photo album of this house that I love so much. I know everyone says this but it is true - I really didn't expect anyone, except my mom, to read this.

However it has turned into far more. I have made some great friends and met so many wonderful and TALENTED people. You all keep me inspired and I thank you.

So happy blog birthday to us! May the next year be full of great ideas, fun projects and all things wonderful.

Ivory & Lace

A monochromatic palette is what you will see today in my outfit, created with nude, ivory, different shapes and different textures... All the pieces blend greatly together and I think the key piece of this look is the lace top, received from Sugarlips.com. I love wearing head to toe white or nude outfits. They are chic, no matter the season, and give a glam spin, no matter if you wear a dress or a suit.
What do you think ?
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone !

it's a marathon, not a sprint

I never said I would be quick about this whole living room update right? Good. Because it is painfully obvious that I'm taking my own sweet time with this room seeing as I first posted about it in August. The beginning of August.

So I could apologize for my laziness and give all sort of excuses as to why this little room is taking so long, blah blah blah. Or, I could just get on with it and given an update. An update you say? You are so positive, I knew I liked you!

Now if you are anything like me, you will need a refresher on the original to do list.

1. Paint walls, ceiling and trim (not in that order)
2. Paint and recover chairs
3. Figure out room layout
4. Get artwork
5. Sew pillows and curtains
6. Clean rug or Get new rug?
7. Find/Make coffee table
8. Address window seat
9. Lighting
10. Paint 'other' items as needed
11. Couch finishing touches (half way done)

And actually, now that I'm looking at it, I have gotten a lot done. Go me!

The walls have been painted one of my very favorite colors - Arrowroot by Pratt & Lambert. And the ceilings are a very pale blue (I can't remember the name at the moment) that seems to change color several times throughout the day, which I love.

In addition to the walls, I painted some furniture as well. If you saw my guest post at The Pink Pagoda a while back then you saw this.

And I have a serious crush on my prints from The Pink Pagoda as well. That little lady looks so good! And so does her hubs, hanging on the other side of the room.

I'm still playing around with pillows and some other little things.

But I do have some help arranging flowers.

Curtains were hung last night and the trim on a new seat cushion is complete.

Now I just need to clean the place up a bit and snap some pictures. Easier said than done in this gloomy weather. But progress has been made! I have not forgotten nor abandon the living room. It lives!!

Do you have any projects that you can't seem to get around to finishing? Any lingering lists? Want to come over and help me take some pictures?

It's Going To Be Close, Brace Yourself For Continued Polarization of America, Especially if Obama Loses...

The race is close, very close, with the momentum shifting to Romney. However, my take is the shift, as significant as it has been, came too late and too little.

Progressives no doubt are biting their nails because as much as they prefer not to acknowledge it, this one is a real cliff hanger. Reminiscent of 2000.

It is true if Obama loses this one progressives throughout the land will be wailing and gnashing their teeth. For them it will be a great undoing of their greatest hopes and dreams. Of course the other fifty percent of America will view it quite differently.

So, as the polls close tomorrow, and the tabulating of the vote goes late into the night, we can be sure of a few thing... The nation will remain polarized, the puppet masters behind the curtains will continue calling the shots, the debt and deficits will continue, no mater who wins. And America will continue to ask why.

Tomorrow, as I visit my polling place and cast my ballot for Gary Johnson I will be wearing a very big smile. Regardless of the outcome of this election there are millions of liberty driven individuals that WILL live to fight another day.

Remember... Vote! It is not only the right of every American, it is also the RESPONSIBILITY of every American CITIZEN to do so.

Politico - A defeat for Barack Obama on Tuesday would be no ordinary loss for Democrats.

It would be a traumatic experience: the death of the dream of liberal realignment embodied in Obama’s insurgent 2008 campaign. And it would be all the more distressing to Democrats because so many of them fervently believe they will win tomorrow.

Unlike Republicans, many of whom have no particular love for their nominee, Democrats admire and sympathize with the president, understanding he came into office at a difficult time. If Obama were to lose, Democrats would suddenly be leaderless for the first time in half a decade and would be forced to confront agonizing questions about the viability of their party’s agenda — health care reform, most of all.

Here’s POLITICO’s preview of how Democrats would try to explain an Obama defeat — including some of the foreseeable arguments and spin:

Obama threw it away in Denver

At the end of September, Obama led his opponent in essentially all credible national and swing-state polling, Mitt Romney’s personal favorability was stuck underwater and the former Massachusetts governor was caught in a whirlpool of controversy around the “47 percent” tape.

And then the first debate happened.

With a strangely passive debate performance, making no mention of the “47 percent” video and even suggesting he and Romney agreed on the the future of Social Security, Obama gave the Republican a massive new opening in the 2012 campaign. Romney’s swing-state numbers leaped upward, his personal favorability surged and in national Pew polling he went from a 8-point deficit to a 4-point lead over Obama.

If Romney emerges the victor on Tuesday night, some percentage of Democrats will say that the reason is really very simple: Obama self-immolated on a single night at the University of Denver. Had the president been the fierce competitor that night that he was in the two successive debates, he could have ended the race on Oct. 3. Instead, Obama barely showed up.

The Obama campaign doesn’t buy this read on the race. It has argued in recent weeks that the movement in polls following the first debate was just a matter of Republican-leaning swing voters coming home to Romney. Those voters, they say, would ultimately have voted for Romney anyway.

His True Colors...

The mark of a desperate campaign and it's candidate. Some might even call it despicable.

CINCINNATI — A seemingly offhand utterance from President Obama has turned into a major point of contention between the two campaigns, as Team Obama tries to explain what the president meant when he told a crowd of supporters that “Voting is the best revenge.”

It happened in Springfield, Ohio Friday as Obama was discussing the economic policies of the 1990s. When Obama referred to “a Senate candidate by the name of Mitt Romney,” the crowd booed his opponent’s name — certainly not unusual reaction at political rallies of both parties. Then Obama said, “No, no, no — don’t boo, vote. Vote. Voting is the best revenge.”

It was an ugly and small-minded moment, especially for the end of a campaign when candidates usually try to stress larger, optimistic themes. Romney incorporated the “revenge” line in his speech in Ohio Friday night, saying that while Obama advises revenge, he, Romney, wants people to vote “for love of country.”

As Obama traveled to northern Ohio Saturday morning, campaign official Jen Psaki was asked about the “revenge” remark. According to a White House pool report, Psaki said Obama had been speaking in the context of Romney’s “scare tactics” in Ohio. The Republican is “frightening workers in Ohio into thinking, falsely, that they’re not going to have a job,” Psaki said, according to the pool report. “And the message [Obama] was sending is if you don’t like the policies, if you don’t like the plan that Gov. Romney is putting forward, if you think that’s a bad deal for the middle class, then you can go to the voting booth and cast your ballot. It’s nothing more complicated than that.”

The problem is, the president was actually not speaking in the context of Romney’s highly-controversial ads about bailed-out Chrysler adding production of Jeeps in China. In fact, Obama had not said a word about the Jeep controversy when he said “revenge.” His speech had touched on Hurricane Sandy, on the progress the American economy has made in the last few years, on his national security accomplishments, on the choice Americans will make on November 6, on Bill Clinton’s record — on a lot of things, but not on Jeep. {Read More}

More bigotry and hypocrisy from the left. This guy gets away with the double standard at will. Chalk it up to political correctness run amok and a willing complicit and blind MSM. Ya just can't make this stuff up.

Hat Tip: NewsBusters.

Bill Maher on HBO's Real Time Friday might have said one of the most disgraceful things uttered during the 2012 campaign season.

"If you're thinking about voting for Mitt Romney, I would like to make this one plea: black people know who you are and they will come after you" (video follows with commentary):

Imagine for a moment the outrage if a conservative commentator said even jokingly to Obama supporters, "White people know who you are and they will come after you." {Read More}

Painted trousers

 What loves the most a painter?... brushes, paintings, art in general, and of course the colors! And I will not say no to a pair of painted pants either:) Thanks to Sugarlips.com I have an artistic pair of trousers that I was very happy to chose from their website. To make this trousers the center of attention they totally deserved, I paired them with a black leather jacket, wore as a top, and black lace hells;
Voila! a simple yet colorful outfit. And guess what: I wore this outfit on a visit at an art gallery :)

Something To Consider Before Casting Your Ballot...

It appears, at least to David Wasserman anyway, the House of Representatives will remain in republican control. It is possible republicans could actually gain seats in the House. This of course either a good or a bad scenario, depending on how you view good or bad.

It depends actually on whether or not President Obama is reelected. If he is we can almost be assured, based on his prior four years serving as President, of continued partisan gridlock. Assuming the Senate remains in democratic control of course, which it no doubt will.

On the other hand if Mittens is elected the chances of actually getting anything done increases. Why? Simply because Romney, governing in a overwhelming democratic state (MA) had to take a bipartisanship stance. Everything else aside, Romney knows how to work across the partisan aisle.

The Weekly Standard - Democratic hopes of capturing the House next Tuesday are long gone. And Democrats now could wind up actually losing seats.

David Wasserman, the Cook Political Report’s expert on House races, changed his rating of 15 contested House races, 11 of them to the benefit of Republicans. For example, Republican Bob Dold, supposedly doomed because his affluent district north of Chicago was badly gerrymandered, now is in a tossup race.

Wasserman counts six Republican seats as lean or likely Democratic and nine Democratic seats as lean or likely Republican. And “if the 28 races in our Toss Up column were to divide evenly between the parties, Democrats would score a net gain of a single seat in the House,” Wasserman concluded.

This is especially bad news for House minority leader Nancy Pelosi. Unless Democratic candidates do far better than Wasserman projects, she may be forced to give up her leadership post. There’s already speculation in Washington than she may retire.

In Ohio, two incumbents – Republican Jim Renacci and Democrat Betty Sutton – face each other in a merged district. Wasserman has changed their race from tossup to lean Republican.

Something to think about.

A Definition Of Intolerance... From the Left

Exposing the intolerance of the gay left. H/T GayPatriot

Our reader Tim in MT shared this video with us that he had made after catching Michelangelo Signorile on SiriusXM radio yesterday.

The left-wing radio talker, twice in the segment (at about 2:15 & 3:45) advises his gay Romney-supporting caller to drink arsenic or other poison so he can commit suicide. At 2:57, he tells the young man that he should not be allowed to vote.

Such tolerance.

To which I can only echo... Indeed, such tolerance.

George Will is often on par with reality. Once again he hits the nail squarely on the head.

The Washington Post, By George F. Will

“It is a great advantage to a president, and a major source of safety to the country, for him to know he is not a great man.”

Calvin Coolidge

Energetic in body but indolent in mind, Barack Obama in his frenetic campaigning for a second term is promising to replicate his first term, although simply apologizing would be appropriate. His long campaign’s bilious tone — scurrilities about Mitt Romney as a monster of, at best, callous indifference; adolescent japes about “Romnesia” — is discordant coming from someone who has favorably compared his achievements to those of “any president” since Lincoln, with the “possible” exceptions of Lincoln, LBJ and FDR. Obama’s oceanic self-esteem — no deficit there — may explain why he seems to smolder with resentment that he must actually ask for a second term.

Speaking of apologies, Syracuse University’s law school should issue one for having graduated Joe Biden. In the 2008 vice presidential debate, he condescendingly lectured Sarah Palin that Article I of the Constitution defines the executive branch. Actually, Article II does. In this year’s debate, he said that overturning Roe v. Wade would “outlaw” abortion. Actually, this would just restore abortion as a subject for states to regulate as they choose. Biden, whose legal education ended well before he was full to the brim, was nominated for his current high office because Democrats believe compassion should temper the severities of meritocracy. It is, however, remarkable, and evidence of voters’ dangerous frivolity regarding the vice presidency, that Biden’s proximity to the presidency has not stirred more unease. To forestall that, Biden should heed Alexis de Tocqueville: “To remain silent is the most useful service that a mediocre speaker can render to the public good.”

Two economic themes of Obama’s campaign have been that outsourcing jobs is sinful and that he saved GM, which assembles 70 percent of its vehicles on lines outside America. He thinks that ATMs and airport ticket kiosks cause unemployment but may understand that buying an iPhone involves outsourcing to China the jobs of assembling it. Although his campaign slogan is “Forward!” he evidently wants America to compete with China in the manufacture of T-shirts and toasters. His third economic theme — that he will “invest in” (spend on) this and that — has been inaudible amid the clatter of crashing companies he has invested in.

Much of the Democratic Party’s vast reservoir of condescension is currently focused on women, who are urged not to trouble their pretty little heads about actual problems but instead to worry that, 52 years after birth control pills went on the market and 47 years after access to contraception became a constitutional right, reproductive freedom is at risk. This insult may explain the shift of women toward Romney. {Read More}

It's not that President Obama is not a likable and honorable man because he is both. Rather the issue is his view, or vision if you will, is clouded with uncertainty. He wants to take America down the path he wants us to follow, even though the country is split damn near down the middle, if you believe the polling data anyway.

Perhaps Obama, if reelected, will chart a center course in a second term and thus bring America together. Like Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton did. Given the President's lofty attitude it is likely if he is reelected he will view the results as he was given a mandate to rule. If so, may the Gods have mercy.

Mittens Continues His Consistency Problem... Which Is It Mitt?

by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty
-vs- Tyranny

There is always something to be said for prioritizing the importance of issues. The devastating force of Sandy and the resulting national disaster it brought about is representative of such importance.

CBS NEWS - There's nothing like a natural disaster to test the depth of politicians' preference for small government.

And so it turns out that after superstorm Sandy battered the East Coast, Mitt Romney is far more supportive of the government agency in charge of coordinating disaster relief. Only last year, as Romney hewed to the right while battling for the GOP nomination, he seemed to downplay the federal government's role in disaster response.

"Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that's the right direction," Romney said at a debate last June. "And if you can go even further, and send it back to the private sector, that's even better."

Asked by moderator John King of CNN whether that would include disaster relief, Romney said: "We cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids. It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids."

Now, a week before Election Day, after of a massive disaster, Romney's campaign is reassuring voters that his administration wouldn't leave disaster victims in the lurch. The public's attention is locked on the devastation caused by Sandy at a time when Romney and President Barack Obama are locked in a close presidential campaign. With Obama heavily involved in getting federal funds to those in trouble, the Romney campaign moved quickly to reassure the public it supports a strong program of storm relief.

"I believe that FEMA plays a key role in working with states and localities to prepare for and respond to natural disasters," Romney said in a statement supplied by his campaign Wednesday. "As president, I will ensure FEMA has the funding it needs to fulfill its mission, while directing maximum resources to the first responders who work tirelessly to help those in need, because states and localities are in the best position to get aid to the individuals and communities affected by natural disasters."

Wednesday's statement came after the candidate ducked a spate of opportunities Tuesday to personally clarify his position and the statement essentially endorsed the current disaster aid system. {Read More}

One of Mittens biggest problems is he often speaks before he has thought something through. It has become abundantly clear this is his weakest characteristic and the result is no one really knows what Mitt's core values are. He has demonstrated he will change positions in response to political consideration in a way that he deems will engender support that will ultimately become votes. Sounds like a man who might sell his soul if he thought it would ensure him the presidency.

So, in a nut shell, here is the simple reality as I see it; A) Vote for Obama if you want a larger more intrusive federal government that over time continues to limit individual liberty, B) Vote Romney if you want smaller government and less regulation. But, be prepared for any one of many Mitt's to emerge, and expect changing priorities often. C) Vote Gary Johnson if you REALLY want a more limited federal government with more personal liberty and a true focus on the private sector without the burden of unnecessary regulatory controls. With Johnson, as with Obama you can expect consistency. We know Obama's record as President, and hopefully you've checked Gary's record when he served as the two term Governor of New Mexico.

On a final not, the only candidate that will really do something about reigning the defense budget is Gary Johnson. Both Obama and Romney are pretty much comfortable with the status quo.

That's my take, I know who I'll be voting for (his picture and link are at top left of the page). Soon it will be over and the people will have spoken. I would say may the BEST candidate win, but I know that is a probable impossibility.
