ObamaCare, aka ACA, Continuing To Lose Support...

ObamaCare, aka ACA, Continuing To Lose Support...
by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Washington (CNN) - The Affordable Care Act, which is the signature domestic achievement for President Barack Obama, was passed along party lines in 2010, when Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. Since that passage, Republicans have fought to either repeal, defund, or severely restrict the law. A push by congressional conservatives to defund the law was the catalyst for October's 16-day long partial federal government shutdown, the first in nearly two decades.

As Americans began to better understand the flaws in the ACA and struggle through perhaps the most customer unfriendly sign up experience in human history, as well as more and more people now realizing the Affordable Care Act is really the Unaffordable Care Act for many, support for ObamaCare continues its descent.

CNN, a slightly left leaning cable news network has just released a nationwide CNN/ORC International poll indicating ObamaCare is decidedly more in disfavor than in favor with the American people. Where the rubber meets the road ObamaCare has just hit its record low. More below the fold.

Rising Interest Rates: A Long-Term Saver's Perspective

The following chart shows the natural log of the 10-year treasury yield. When using natural logs, exponential growth is seen as a straight line.

We've actually clawed our way back to the middle of the long-term declining trend channel. Hurray.

The 10-year yield is destined to climb up well outside of that miserable channel soon thanks to our financially innovative, modern, improved, strong, robust, and resilient economy. There are just four things we need to see first.

1. The End of ZIRP
2. Skyrocketing 5-Year CD Rates
3. Hot Snowballs
4. Avian Pigs

I could be wrong of course. Perhaps we'll get pork hot dogs at 50% off and flying snowballs instead. What a Christmas that would be!

Dark Side of After-Christmas Sales Starting BEFORE Christmas

As some consumers jubilantly hop from store-to-store reaping the benefits of these price-slashing events, I suspect that there may be a hangover waiting.

2 Teens in stolen car Shot By Police In Roseland Chicago

Was this joyride worth all this?
CBS Chicagoreports two teenage boys were shot Sunday evening in the Roseland neighborhood when Chicago Police opened fire on a stolen car packed full of joyriders, the Sun-Times is reporting.

About 5 p.m., police pulled over a speeding stolen car near 95th and La Salle, according to a statement from the News Affairs office.

After the car stopped, the driver got out of the car and ran away, according to the statement. As more officers arrived at the scene, a passenger in the stolen vehicle moved into the driver’s seat and put the vehicle in reverse.

Fearing that people in the could face harm, an officer discharged his weapon, striking two teenage boys inside the vehicle. They were placed into custody and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. No officers were injured during this incident. A weapon was recovered from the scene.

Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden’s narrative of the incident was different from the News Affairs statement. He said there were seven people in the car, and after the car stopped, a passenger got out through the rear driver’s side door. The driver backed up and hit the passenger. Officers then began walking up to the car, telling the driver to stop, but the car began to pull away, dragging the passenger, Camden said.

'DUCK DYNASTY' Robertson Breaks Silence, Defends Gay Comments

I think Phil is great!  He’s standing for what’s right and true in Scripture and progressives need TO PRACTICE what they preach and be tolerant of others instead of wanting them destroyed.
Daily Mailreports Phil Robertson has spoken out for the first time since his homophobic comments in a magazine interview went public and refused to go back on his controversial remarks, saying:

‘I will not give or back off from my path.’

The Duck Dynasty patriarch led a small Bible study group in his home town church in West Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday, granting MailOnline exclusive access.

And the deeply religious outdoorsman stood by his incendiary statements – which saw him call homosexuality a sin and led to his suspension from the hit reality show by network bosses at A&E.

During Sunday’s speech, he defended himself, saying he was simply quoting from the Bible and even went so far as to say Jesus could save gay people.

‘I love all men and women. I am a lover of humanity, not a hater,’ he added.
The 67-year-old has been slammed by gay rights groups since his interview in January’s issue of GQ magazine was made public last week.
He was quoted as saying: 'It seems like, to me, a vagina - as a man - would be more desirable than a man’s anus.

'That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.'

But despite the criticism Robertson has faced, his family and local community have come to his defense and stood firmly behind him.
Just before Sunday’s Bible study class started, one church-goer actually thanked Robertson for his comments.

New York Man throws 3-year-old son, then himself to their deaths from roof of Midtown high-rise over custody battle with wife

Why kill the child?  That doesn’t make sense and it’s very selfish of him to do.
NY DailyNews reports a distraught dad threw himself and his 3-year-old son off the roof of a 52-story West Side skyscraper Sunday in a holiday death plunge that apparently stemmed from a custody battle, police said.

The 35-year-old man, Dmitriy Kanarikov, died after jumping from the Lincoln Square tower at 12:05 p.m. The red-haired tot, Kirill, dressed in Christmas pajamas, died moments later at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, cops said.

The shocking tragedy came just three months after Kanarikov, an immigrant from Ukraine, wrote on his Facebook page how he aspired to be an outstanding parent and spouse.

“I want to be the best dad and husband — nothing is more important to me right now,” Kanarikov wrote.

His estranged wife, Svetlana Bukharina, boasted on her Facebook page in March, “I have the best husband and son in the world.”
But apparently their home life imploded in recent months.

LULAC National, Ronald McDonald's House Charities HACER Exclude DREAMers From $100K In Scholarships

LULAC national and the Ronald McDonald's House Charities working to provide over $100K in scholarships to inspiring Hispanics who want to attend colleges, but DREAMers are excluded from participating.

By H. Nelson Goodson
December 23, 2013

Washington, D.C. - League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Education Service Centers, Inc. (LNESC) and the Ronald McDonald's House Charities/HACER National Scholarship (RMHC/HACER) have teamed up to offer more than $100K in scholarships to eligible inspiring Latino students who want to pursue a college or university education. Hispanic high school students that are eligible are encouraged to apply before the January 21, deadline to LNESC and RMHC/HACER.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has learned that both scholarship providers have continued to discriminate against DREAMers for years, despite, undocumented families and DREAMers that have supported LULAC events and patronize McDonald Restaurants. In other words, it's alright for undocumented immigrants to continue to fund LULAC events and march with LULAC signs during immigration reform rallies and to buy burgers and products from McDonald's, but it's a shame that their children are excluded from the very same funding sources that their parents helped generate.
Only eligible high school students that are U.S. Citizens or legal residents can qualify, according to the scholarship application requirements to participate.
More than $23M scholarships have been awarded, since 1985 and RMHC/HACER scholarships range from $1,000 to $100,000 per student.
It's also unfortunate and wrong that the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation who sponsors Milwaukee's three day annual Mexican Fiesta, including several LULAC Councils 319 and 322 continue to deny scholarships to DREAMers, shame on them for exploiting undocumented Raza and not giving becas (scholarships) to their children.

America Survives Another Year ... J. D. Longstreet

America Survives Another Year ... J. D. Longstreet
America Survives Another Year
Annus Horribilis
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

******************

Well, we have made another year without a complete meltdown.  Nevertheless, we are growing closer.   As every day passes we draw nearer that apocalyptic terminus.

We have reached the final few days of the year and it is customary, sort of, for folks to look back over all the bad and unusual things that occurred in the twelve months just ending.  But, honestly, I don't want to drag them up again.  They were difficult enough to handle the first time through, so why punish ourselves, right?

If anything, 2013 established, beyond doubt, that Mr. Obama is intent upon presiding over a nation in  decline -- and he insists on increasing the rate of acceleration of said declination.

But that doesn't touch the lies, the deceit, the scandals, the abuse of power by the Executive Office, nor the assumption of dictatorial powers by the Chief Executive and on, and on, and on.  And I haven't even mentioned OBAMACARE ... yet

In fact, I'd like to look ahead.  I'm the sort who anticipates darn near everything.  I'm just wired that way.  No apologies for it.  I rather like to act in advance of an anticipated problem and to deal with it ahead of time and/or before it becomes a menace in one fashion or another.

Peeling back the layers of the future is most certainly a job for the clairvoyants, the fortune tellers and such.  I am neither.  No.  I'm more of what you might call -- a worrier.    So believe me when I tell you I am mightily worried about next year, about 2014.

The US is currently reeling from the onslaught of socialism/communism led by our socialist-in-chief, B. H. Obama.  Mr. Obama is, at this writing, in the lovely state of Hawaii where, frankly, I wish he'd stay, sending us his resignation as a Christmas gift to the nation.

Two things:  One -- Mr. Obama does not share our low opinion of himself.  And second -- Vice President Joe Biden is waiting in the wings to become President should Mr Obama step down.  (Yeah, it's sorta like a double feature horror movie special at the local cinema, right?  Egads!)

Moving right along ...

That socialism/communism thing, in the guise of health insurance for everyone, will still be with us next year.  Like an infection deep inside it will continue to destroy the tissue of America and will, over time, murder the country.

The problems with the roll out of Obamacare were just petty "stuff" compared to that which is coming in the close and distant future.  Those of you who have not turned your hand to insuring yourself under our new law are in for a bone rattling shock.  If you have an attorney on retainer, I suggest assigning him/her the job of signing you up to Obamacare -- and paying him a bonus if he succeeds.

Small business owners who, up to now, have provided health insurance for their employees are going to learn they simply cannot afford it any longer and the millions of employees of small businesses in America are going to find themselves without insurance and then they, too, will be dealing with Obamacare.

It's going to get downright ugly.

Repeal of Obamacare will not happen in 2014.  We'll have to have another election before there is even a possibility of a repeal of Obamacare. That election is coming up next November.

The President must take another shot at immigration reform or, as I like to call it -- amnesty for illegal aliens. The democrats understand that with passage of immigration reform, they will secure, for themselves, the reins of government in the US for generations to come.

Oh, there is much, much, more but it's just too depressing to touch on it.

One thing, however.  I can't shake the feeling that the US will find itself engulfed in another Vietnam type quagmire, this time on the African continent, sometime in 2014.  We have troops fighting little brush fire wars in various places in Africa now.  It is not outside the realm of possibility that one of those brush fires will flare up into a huge conflagration without the American public even being aware that American warriors are bleeding and dying in the jungles of that mysterious land.  Too, I would be less than honest if I did not tell you that I have no idea why we are spending our blood and treasure on such a hopeless cause as saving Africa.  Only Africa can save Africa.   Our efforts on the dark continent are almost as hopeless as bringing peace between the Israelis and the so-called Palestinians. Oh.  by the way, that, too, will fail in 2014.

One is drawn to ask if America is in Africa fighting indigenous insurrectionists, or, are we actually establishing forward bases from which to attack Al-Qaeda in Africa?  If the latter, I must wonder what happened to the Al-Qaeda Mr. Obama suggested to the nation was through, kaput?

As we chart our course for 2014, I suggest we would be wise to take a back-azimuth off 2013.  For, if my suspicions are anywhere near correct, we are in for a replay of 2013 -- at least until November.
