Baca to resign after the Sheriff's Office faced a scandal after 18 deputies and former deputies were arrested by feds for prisoner and visitor abuse.

Los Angeles, CA - On Tuesday, Sheriff Lee Baca from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office announced his resignation effective at the end of the month. Baca said, that he won't seek a fifth term.
His department faced a recent scandal that resulted in the arrest of 18 deputies and former deputies who were charged by feds for prisoner and visitor abuse at the jail. The department is facing an overhaul of policies and scrutiny by county officials.
Sheriff Baca was first elected in 1998.
