The Alternative and Antidote to the Major Party Statist Candidates...

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Gary Johnson,  Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate 2012

America is faced with a choice on November 6, 2012 of selecting, and voting for one of "the lesser of two evils." Both Barrack Hussein Obama and Mitt Willard Romney are statists who believe in the power of government to correct perceived societal, economic, and political problems. They both believe the government, rather than the individual(s) has the solutions to problems and therefore believe government creates the environment that leads to prosperity and growth. The paths each advocate are different, but ultimately both paths lead to tyranny. A reality wherein the government reverses roles on the people and the people begin to work for the government. In direct contradiction to our founding principles and our Constitution.

Gary Johnson, a limited government, fiscal conservative, pro defense (yet anti MIC), libertarian (liberal) on social issues, and vocal supporter of individual liberty is a man with a clear vision for America, he understands the direction the nation needs to travel and the means by which to achieve getting America back on track again.

From the Johnson website:

Governor Johnson, who has been referred to as the ‘most fiscally conservative Governor’ in the country, was the Republican Governor of New Mexico from 1995-2003.

A successful businessman before running for office in 1994, Gov. Johnson started a door-to-door handyman business to help pay his way through college. Twenty years later, he had grown the firm into one of the largest construction companies in New Mexico with over 1,000 employees. Not surprisingly, Governor Johnson brings a distinctly business-like mentality to governing, believing that decisions should be made based on cost-benefit analysis rather than strict ideology.

Johnson is best known for his veto record, which includes over 750 vetoes during his time in office, more than all other governors combined and his use of the veto pen has since earned him the nickname “Governor Veto.” He cut taxes 14 times while never raising them. When he left office, New Mexico was one of only four states in the country with a balanced budget.

Term-limited, Johnson retired from public office in 2003. An avid skier, adventurer, and bicyclist, he has reached the highest peak on four of the seven continents, including Mt. Everest.

In 2009, after becoming increasingly concerned with the country’s out-of-control national debt and precarious financial situation, the Governor formed the OUR America Initiative, a 501c(4) non-profit that promotes fiscal responsibility, civil liberties, and rational public policy. He traveled to more than 30 states and spoke to over 150 conservative and libertarian groups during his time as Honorary Chairman.

Gary Johnson
comes down squarely on most issues the average working class family cares about. He understands that for America to prosper through the 21st century and beyond requires the nation follow sound fiscal and social policies. Something lacking in both the Obama and Romney vision for America.

Unfortunately, due to systemic hurdles designed by national two party system adherents, the requirements for candidate Johnson to get on the national debate stage with President Obama and Governor Romney is so restrictive they realistically insure it won't happen.

In response to this reality on Monday, August 20, 2012 Governor Johnson sent a letter to the Commission On Presidential Debates asking they reconsider their position.

Inclusion in the Presidential Debates

To the Commission on Presidential Debates,

I am writing to request that the National Commission on Presidential Debates reconsider your current – and exclusionary – requirements for participation in this Fall’s all-important Presidential and Vice-Presidential debates.

I am well aware of the history and genesis of the Commission, including the reality that it was created largely by the respective national leadership of the Democrat and Republican Parties. While I respect and understand the intention to provide a reasonable and theoretically nonpartisan structure for the presidential debate process, I would suggest that the Commission’s founding, organization and policies are heavily skewed toward limiting the debates to the two so-called major parties.

That is unfortunate, and frankly, out of touch with the electorate. You rely very heavily on polling data to determine who may participate in your debates, yet your use of criteria that are clearly designed to limit participation to the Republican and the Democrat nominee ignore the fact that many credible polls indicate that a full one-third of the electorate do not clearly identify with either of those parties. Rather, they are independents whose voting choices are not determined by party affiliation.

That one-third of the voters, as well as independent-thinking Republicans and Democrats, deserve an opportunity to see and hear a credible “third party” candidate. I understand that there are a great many “third party” candidates, and that a line must be drawn somewhere. However, the simple reality of our Electoral College system draws that line in a very straightforward and fair way – a reality that is reflected in your existing criteria. If a candidate is not on the ballot in a sufficient number of states to be elected by the Electoral College, it is perfectly logical to not include that candidate in a national debate. If, on other hand, a candidate IS on the ballot in enough states to be elected, there is no logic by which that candidate should be excluded.

Nowhere in the Constitution or in law is it written that our President must be a Democrat or a Republican. However, it IS written that a candidate must receive a majority of the votes – or at least 50% – cast by electors, and that any candidate who does so, and otherwise meets the Constitution’s requirements, may be President.

As the Libertarian Party’s nominees for Vice-President and President, Judge Jim Gray and I have already qualified to be on the ballot in more than enough states to obtain a majority in the Electoral College, and we are the only candidates other than the Republican and Democrat nominees to have done so, or who are likely to do so. In fact, we fully intend and expect to be on the ballots of all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

However, the Commission has chosen to impose yet another requirement for participation: 15% in selected public opinion polls. Unlike your other requirements, this polling performance criterion is entirely arbitrary and based, frankly, on nothing other than an apparent attempt to limit participation to the Democrat and the Republican.

Requiring a certain level of approval in the polls has nothing to do with fitness to serve, experience, or credibility as a potential President. Rather, it has everything to do with the hundreds of millions of dollars available to and spent by the two major party candidates, the self-fulfilling bias of the news media against the viability of third party candidates, and an ill-founded belief that past dominance of the Republican and Democrat Parties should somehow be a template for the future.

In all due respect, it is not the proper role of an nonelected, private and tax-exempt organization to narrow the voters’ choices to only the two major party candidates – which is the net effect of your arbitrary polling requirement. To the contrary, debates are the one element of modern campaigns and elections that should be immune to unfair advantages based upon funding and party structure. Yet, it is clear that the Commission’s criteria have both the intent and the effect of limiting voters’ choices to the candidates of the two major parties who, in fact, created the Commission in the first place.

Eliminating the arbitrary polling requirement would align the Commission and its procedure for deciding who may participate in the critical debates with fairness and true nonpartisanship, which was the purported intent behind the Commission’s creation. As of right now, eliminating that requirement would not disrupt the process or make it unmanageable. Rather, it would simply allow the participation of a two-term governor who has more executive experience than Messrs. Obama and Romney combined, who has garnered sufficiently broad support to be on the ballot in more than enough states to achieve a majority in the Electoral College, and who, without the help of party resources and special interests, has attracted enough financial support to qualify for presidential campaign matching funds.

I urge and request you to remove the partisanship from the debates, and allow the voters an opportunity to hear from all of the qualified candidates – not just those who happen to be a Democrat or a Republican.

Thank you.

Governor Gary Johnson

Libertarian Nominee for President of the United States

Isn't it time to stand up and make the elite statist bureaucrats, and corrupt politicians hear and listen to the voices of Americans that are fed up with the half truths and outright lies that the major party politicians have been spoon feeding the public for nigh on 100 years?

It is time to give Gary Johnson the National Voice he so richly deserves, and We the People have a right to hear.

The EVIL Party versus The STUPID Party

by: Les Carpenter

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Big H/T to FreeThinke for the following insightful post. Many thanks Free Thinker for allowing me to bring it to the pages of Rational Nation USA.

Todd Akin, loose-slipped moron from Missouri.
Is he being paid by the Sorosians to stay put?

There's an old saying that has always resonated well with this 72-year-old conservative-libertarian:

American politics always boils down to a contest between The EVIL Party and the STUPID Party.

I'll give everyone three guesses as to which is which.

"Straining out gnats while swallowing camels" is what The Stupid Party tends to do. If you don't know who they are, you are probably a member in good standing.

"In general the art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one class of citizens to give to the other."

~ Voltaire (1694-1778)

I agree with Voltaire. Politics is all about money and acquiring enough power to be able push people around and bend them to your will, and that's ALL it ever has been or will be in my never humble opinion.

Issues like Abortion, Right to Die and Gay Marriage should have NO PLACE WHATSOEVER in the political arena. They are PERSONAL and RELIGIOUS matters that function only as three large -- and very smelly -- red herrings that give the D'Rats a TREMENDOUS advantage, because harping on these things makes Republicans look foolish, naive, out of touch with reality, and potentially tyrannical.

Concentrating on Abortion and Homosexuality makes it LOOK as though Republicans are eager to establish a THEOCRACY. That frightens the hell out of people -- as well it should.

I'm a Christian, certainly a fiscal conservative, but probably a social liberal. There are far more people like me than there are of the crowd who wants to micromanage the inner-workings of every woman's vagina along with the direction and purpose of every man's penis.

The Conservative Movement is DOOMED if it continues to cater to the radical beliefs of Backwoods Bible Thumpers and Mediaeval Papists.

Many are rightly scared to death of permitting SHARIA to be established within our borders. So am I! But everyone should be EQUALLY terrified at the thought of the reemergence of a Christofascist State. {Continue Reading}

Bill Maher Calls GOP On Major Stupidity Issues...
Bill Maher: My New Rule for Todd Akin and the Republican Party Posted: 2012-08-24 8:40:39 AM Updated: 2012-08-24 8:40:39 AM 8930 858 2014 2573 New Rule: If your entire party tries to get rid of you, and you stay in, you can't talk about how easy it is for a woman to push a stupid prick out of her body. I don't want to waste another second thinking about Todd Akin, and his theory that you can't get pregnant unless your eggs are asking for it.

Here's the only thing you need to know about Todd Akin and human anatomy: he's an asshole. What I want to talk about is how it's not a coincidence that the party of fundamentalism is also the party of fantasy. When I say religion is a mental illness, this is what I mean: it corrodes your mental faculties to the point where you can believe in tiny ninja warriors who hide in vaginas and lie in wait for bad people's sperm. Evangelicals might like to pretend that the magical thinking that they indulge in at home doesn't affect what they do at the office, but it absolutely does.

The brain that believes in angels and miracles and Jesus riding a dinosaur is trained to see the world not as it is, but as you want it to be. Republicans would like to pretend like Congressman Akin's substitution of superstition for science is a lone problem but it's not: they're all magical thinkers, on nearly every issue.

They don't get their answers on climate change from climatologists, they get them from the Book of Genesis. Hence Sharia Law in America is a dire threat, and global warming a hoax. Or take the issue that consumes the right these days, our sea of red ink: Republicans are united in their fervent desire to reduce the deficit, but they want to do it in some magical fashion that doesn't involve raising taxes or cutting any spending. When given a choice in polls between these two options, a majority or Republicans check "none of the above" as a way to reduce the deficit. That's like deciding to pay off your student loans by daydreaming. Or as it's known on Capitol Hill, supply-side economics. Remember that magic beans theory?

That you actually bring in more revenue by bringing in less? Ronald Reagan believed it. But at least back in the '80's it was new. The thing is, we tried it, and it doesn't work. Yet, Paul Ryan, who every shit-for-brains pundit in America keeps telling us is a "serious" guy, still believes in the supply-side theory. All the Republicans do. They all believe in something that both science and history have shown to be pure fantasy. The symbol for their party shouldn't be an elephant -- it should be a unicorn. Paul Ryan is their tough guy on spending but he doesn't want to touch defense -- that's right, a budget hawk who doesn't think there's anything bloated about the Defense Department's budget. It's like being a health inspector and finding nothing wrong with the Asian place that has the chicken hanging in the window. This is how low we've put the bar for political courage -- that you can just write, "I want a pony" in a binder and call it the "Plan For Restoring Vision For the Future of America's Greatness" or some shit, and then everyone has to refer to you as the serious one in Congress. It reminds me of health care. Republicans are for all the popular things, like covering people with pre-existing conditions, but they're not for the part where you pay for it, like the mandate. Just like they were for our recent wars, but not for paying for them.

For the prescription drug bill, but not for paying for it. How do they get away with it? They know that, because we're already such a religious country, our minds are primed for magical, fantasy thinking. The gullibility comes factory-installed. They've learned that you appeal not to an American's head, but to his gut -- it's a much bigger target. But here's the problem: life is complicated. I mean, I know we know some things for sure, like why Jesus put us here on Earth: to watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on a 50-inch TV screen. But what about the Chinese slaves who made the TV? What about carbon from the coal that generated the electricity?

What about the Walmart where we bought it, where the workers don't have health insurance? What about racism, or the oceans turning into nail polish remover? The grown-up answer is: identify problems scientifically, prioritize and solve. The Republican answer is: there isn't a problem. And anyone who tells you different is a liar who hates America. We don't have to make hard choices. We just have to ignore the science and the math -- that's why God gave us values. If rape babies throw a monkey wrench into the whole right-to-life pitch, just make believe rape babies don't exist. If you want to cut down on teen pregnancy, just tell curious kids with raging hormones to practice abstinence.

Until they get married. Because everyone knows, that's when the fucking never stops. Health care? Not a problem if you just keep repeating, "We have the greatest health care in the world." Even though the U.N. ranks it 37th. What's the solution to global warming? It's that it isn't real, and even if it is, big whoop, just buy an air conditioner, you pussy. Republicans also believe that putting the word "clean" next to the word "coal" creates something called clean coal. Even thought there's the exact same amount of evidence for clean coal as there is for Todd Akin's mistaken baby makin' theory.

Republicans also believe if they kick all the Mexicans out of the country, the strawberries will pick themselves, and that if they cut the safety net all the poor blacks are "resting" in, they will fall gently to the ground, stand up, dust themselves off, and get good-paying jobs as Olympic gymnasts.

Next week in Tampa the Republicans must admit that the difference between a GOP convention and Comic-Con is that the people at Comic-Con have a much firmer grasp of reality. Bill Maher is the host of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher.

Outlining Obama's Strategy for Re-Election and What Another Four Would Look Like...

by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Many have been saying that President Obama doesn't have a plan for his second four years should he, shudder, be reelected. Witnessing his campaign strategy, which essentially has been to run away from his record while repeatedly emphasizing electing Romney will serve to only further enrich the wealthy while returning America to the "failed" Bush years.

Unfortunately the thought of either man sitting behind the big desk in the big chair from 2013 through 2017 is rather unnerving. As the media will ignore a viable third party candidate in Gary Johnson, a man who actually stands for change and fiscal sanity, and the American people will follow suit, we are stuck with the depressing reality one of these two will be the next leader of the United States of America and the Free World.

I like to think of them as Frick and Frack. A vote for either is a vote for continued decline. So when voting for one or the other you're really deciding which slope you'll be riding down on. Sometimes I suppose voting for the known quantity is easier than taking a chance on the unknown. We took a chance on the unknown in 2008.

While contemplating the Obama/Biden lack of substance and new ideas (not that Romney/Ryan is setting the house a fire) during this campaign cycle today I happened on a WSJ article I thought relatively accurate as to the Obama campaign strategy and what we can expect from an Obama second term. I disagree there are vivid differences between Frick and Frack as was pointed out in an earlier posting. Again, my view is only the slope will be different.

President Obama has a reputation for talking, but not necessarily for saying much. He has achieved new levels of vagueness this election season. Beyond repeating that he's in favor of making the "rich" pay for more government "investment," he hasn't offered a single new idea for a second term. This is deliberate.

The core of the Obama strategy is to make Americans worry that whatever Mitt Romney does, it will be worse. That's a harder case for Mr. Obama to make if he is himself proposing change. And so the Obama pitch is that this election is a choice between stability (giving Mr. Obama four more years to let his policies finally work) and upheaval (giving Mr. Romney four years to re-ruin the nation).

The pitch is profoundly dishonest. While the choice between four more years of Obama status quo and Mr. Romney is certainly vivid, it isn't accurate. The real contrast is between Mr. Romney's and Mr. Obama's future plans. And while the president hasn't revealed what those plans are, there is plenty of evidence for what a second term would look like.

Let's dispense with the obvious: An Obama second term will be foremost about higher taxes and greater spending. The president has been clear about the former and will consider victory in November a mandate to raise taxes on higher-income Americans and small businesses—at the least.

Meanwhile, no matter how the coming budget sequester sorts out, nobody should forget why it came into being: It was the result of Mr. Obama's refusal to consider any real changes to Social Security or Medicare. There will be no reason to budge in a second term. Absent reform to these drivers of debt, and given Mr. Obama's ambitions to further "invest" in education, energy and infrastructure, a second term means proposals for even broader and bigger tax hikes—and not just for his favorite targets. Continued and growing deficits are likely as well

Skip

Yet since the probable outcome of his approach would be continued gridlock, his real efforts will be devoted to fine-tuning the regulatory apparatus he has designed specifically to go around Congress—as the administration has done the past two years. The Environmental Protection Agency in particular will resurrect rules it delayed implementing before the election (see: costly ozone regulations) and move to take over new areas like natural-gas fracking.

The same goes for other agencies, from the Labor Department to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The National Labor Relations Board will continue to cement union dominance over employers. The Solyndras will continue. What Mr. Obama cannot accomplish via regulation, he will attempt through executive order—much as he did with his recent immigration directive.

Most voters understand that a second Obama term means the continuation of ObamaCare and the Dodd-Frank financial regulations. But there is also the carte blanche that re-election will give the president to supercharge those laws, which are only now entering key rulemaking periods. The same Obama appointees who have already taken vast liberties with these laws (see: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius's ObamaCare slush fund) will be crafting the new regulations. The bureaucrats will also have four more years to put in place key civil servants who can be counted on to keep the rules going even past an Obama administration.

It is likely the Supreme Court will offer up another vacancy, and Mr. Obama might finally have his chance to shift the balance of the court. A slew of appellate-court positions are also in limbo as the campaign proceeds; they would be filled by a second-term Obama.

Just as important are the things Mr. Obama will not do. His record gives no indication he will revive America's leadership in free trade...

Skip

None of this is hyperbole. Mr. Obama is open about his tax aims, is proud of his spending and has never apologized for his regulatory ambitions. Despite a shellacking in the midterms, he moved left, and a November victory will reinforce his sense that he was correct to do so. {Read More}

The deficits will continue and the debt will grow, make now mistake about it. Given Mittens Romney is really a moderate rEpublican, and has essentially been pandering to the most rightward leaning in the party of the small tent, I take issue with the idea that a Mittens presidency will be significantly different than a second Obama term would be.

As much as Mitt has flipped flop I've started calling him Flipper. Can anyone really believe much of what he says? Indeed, the choice of the "lesser of two evils" is squarely before us. That is of course unless America takes the sand from its eyes and votes Gary Johnson.

USADA to ban Lance Armstrong for life, strip Tour titles

USADA to ban Lance Armstrong for life, strip Tour titles

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Thursday night it will strip Lance Armstrong of his unprecedented seven Tour de France titles after he declared he was finished fighting the drug charges that threaten his legacy as one of the greatest cyclists of all time.
Travis Tygart, USADA's chief executive, said Armstrong would also be hit with a lifetime ban on Friday.
Still to be heard from was the sport's governing body, the International Cycling Union, which had backed Armstrong's legal challenge to USADA's authority.
Armstrong, who retired last year, declined to enter USADA's arbitration process — his last option — because he said he was weary of fighting accusations that have dogged him for years. He has consistently pointed to the hundreds of drug tests that he has passed as proof of his innocence during his extraordinary run of Tour titles stretchingfrom1999-2005.
"There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, 'Enough is enough.' For me, that time is now," Armstrong said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. He called the USADA investigation an "unconstitutional witch hunt."
"I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999," he said. "The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today - finished with this nonsense."
USADA reacted quickly and treated Armstrong's decision as an admission of guilt, hanging the label of drug cheat on an athlete who was a hero to thousands for overcoming life-threatening testicular cancer and for his foundation's support for cancer research.
"It is a sad day for all of us who love sport and athletes," Tygart said. "It's a heartbreaking example of win at all costs overtaking the fair and safe option. There's no success in cheating to win."

1 Norwegian Killer Cost=77 lives and Billions of Kroner

1 Norwegian Killer Cost=77 lives and Billions of Kroner

Breivik’s attacks cost billions

In addition to costing 77 lives, the murderous attacks carried out by confessed terrorist Anders Behring Breivik will be costing the Norwegian state tens of billions of kroner over the coming years. Legal fees alone from all the lawyers involved have topped NOK 65 million (nearly USD 11 million) already.
The figures emerged during Friday’s court proceedings, when a verdict that can amount to life imprisonment for Breivik was handed down following his 10-week trial last spring. Judge Arne Lyng referred to testimony that it has cost more than NOK 600 million to re-locate all the government ministries uprooted by Breivik’s bombing of government headquarters on July 22 last year. Costs are ongoing, as the ministries are forced to rent temporary quarters all over town, instead of being housed in the government-owned complex.
Meanwhile, it’s been estimated that it will cost as much as NOK 10 billion, probably more, to re-build the government complex, a process that can take as long as 10 to 12 years.
The cost of the legal case against Breivik has cost NOK 165 million so far, because of the need to rebuild the city courthouse to accommodate his trial, arrange for video links to courthouses all over the country and cover the travel and legal costs of victims’ families, survivors and others directly affected by the attacks.
Breivik’s defense attorneys alone have sent in bills amounting to nearly NOK 11 million, with another NOK 50.7 million going to the attorneys provided at state cost to victims.
The cost of incarcerating Breivik is expected to be about NOK 5 million a year because of the special high-security “prison within a prison” needed to house him because of the danger he poses. That’s reported to be the same as what’s normally used to accommodate 15 prisoners.

Presidential Election 2012, The Year of Few Differences...

Presidential Election 2012, The Year of Few Differences...
by: Les Carpenter
Rational Nation USA
Liberty -vs- Tyranny

The 2012 election truly gives Americans a choice between "the lesser of two evils." In fact the two major party candidates have as much in common as they have differences. In simple terms this means whether Obama or Romney is sitting in the big seat next January won't really make a hill of beans difference.

Micheal Snyder writing in The American Dream sums it up this way.

What a depressing choice the American people are being presented with this year. We are at a point in our history where we desperately need a change of direction in the White House, and we are guaranteed that we are not going to get it. The Democrats are running the worst president in American history, and the Republicans are running a guy who is almost a carbon copy of him. The fact that about half the country is still supporting Barack Obama shows how incredibly stupid and corrupt the American people have become. No American should have ever cast a single vote for Barack Obama for any political office under any circumstances. He should never have even been the assistant superintendent in charge of janitorial supplies, much less the president of the United States. The truth is that Barack Obama has done such a horrible job that he should immediately resign along with his entire cabinet. But instead of giving us a clear choice, the Republicans nominated the Republican that was running that was most similar to Barack Obama. In fact, I don't think we have ever had two candidates for president that are so similar. Yes, there are a few minor differences between them, but the truth is that we are heading into Obama's second term no matter which one of them gets elected. The mainstream media makes it sound like Obama and Romney are bitter ideological rivals but that is a giant lie. Yeah, they are slinging lots of mud at each other, but they both play for the same team and the losers are going to be the American people.

Republicans are being told that they have "no choice" but to vote for Romney because otherwise they will get another four years of Obama.

This "lesser of two evils" theme comes out every four years. We are told that we "must" vote for a horrible candidate because the other guy is even worse.

Well, millions of Americans are getting sick of this routine. Perhaps that is why it is being projected that as many as 90 million Americans of voting age will not vote this year.

Yes, Barack Obama has been so horrible as president that it is hard to put it into words.

But Mitt Romney would be just like Barack Obama.

Those that are dreaming of a major change in direction if Romney is elected are going to be bitterly, bitterly disappointed.

The following are 40 ways that Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are essentially the same candidate.... {Continue Reading}

As the Presidential Campaign Drags on Neither Candidate Excites...

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Indeed! The 2012 national election cycle draws more yawns than enthusiasm. Going into the rEpublican national convention next week Obama and Romney are in a statistical dead heat. Yawn.

Fox News - ... Among undecided voters Romney is viewed more negatively than positively by 28 percentage points, while Obama is viewed more negatively by 12 points.

The poll shows Romney supporters are more enthusiastic. By an 11 percentage-point margin the challenger’s backers are more likely to be “extremely” interested in the election, and by 10 points they’re more likely to think it’s “extremely” important their candidate wins.

Meanwhile, voters think neither candidate is sticking to the high road. Small majorities say Romney (58 percent) and Obama (57 percent) will say and do just about anything to win in November.

On the big issue of last week, slightly more voters trust the Democratic ticket (by three points) to do a better job protecting Medicare and ensuring it’s there for future generations.

When asked who they trust to improve the economy and create jobs, voters favor the Republican ticket by two points -- a surprisingly slim margin in light of President Obama’s negative ratings on the issue.

By 54-42 percent, more voters disapprove than approve of Obama’s handling of the economy. His overall job performance stands at 46 percent approve and 50 percent disapprove.

In addition, by a 17-point margin voters say the country has changed for the worse in the last four years rather than for the better (46-29 percent). One in four says it hasn’t changed much either way.

A slightly larger number of voters say they will be more confident their financial situation will improve if Romney (38 percent) is elected than if Obama is re-elected (33 percent). Still, majorities don’t have confidence things will get better for their family either way.

All in all, 51 percent of likely voters view Obama favorably and 46 percent unfavorably. For Romney it’s 49 percent favorable and 44 percent unfavorable. {Read More

Exposing Racism...

Exposing Racism...
by: Les Carpenter

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Racism is indeed alive in America. I know that bigotry and racism continues to exist in our diverse American culture because like most I've witnessed it in some of the people I meet. Racism, or judging a person based on their race is one of the most reprehensible acts anyone can commit. I think Ayn Rand was spot on when she wrote the following.

Racism is the lowest, most crudely primitive form of collectivism. It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man’s genetic lineage—the notion that a man’s intellectual and characterological traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry. Which means, in practice, that a man is to be judged, not by his own character and actions, but by the characters and actions of a collective of ancestors.

Racism claims that the content of a man’s mind (not his cognitive apparatus, but its content) is inherited; that a man’s convictions, values and character are determined before he is born, by physical factors beyond his control. This is the caveman’s version of the doctrine of innate ideas—or of inherited knowledge—which has been thoroughly refuted by philosophy and science. Racism is a doctrine of, by and for brutes. It is a barnyard or stock-farm version of collectivism, appropriate to a mentality that differentiates between various breeds of animals, but not between animals and men.

Like every form of determinism, racism invalidates the specific attribute which distinguishes man from all other living species: his rational faculty. Racism negates two aspects of man’s life: reason and choice, or mind and morality, replacing them with chemical predestination.

Martin Luther King Jr. in a few profoundly moving words said; "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Yet today, even with America's first bi racial president there exists pockets of extreme bigotry, racism, and hate that is enough to make one physically sick. You may be asking yourself why I chose to write about racism at this time. A reasonable question, so here is my reason.

Last week I visited the Swash Zone, a liberal site that I often find myself in disagreement with politically but that generally always causes me to give my views greater scrutiny. One of the contributors there, an attorney and black women named Sheria has a couple of posts dealing with racism and specifically a site with racial content. After reading her posts, Post Racial America? Hell to the No! Boxing with Racism--Do Something!, and Revealing the Boogeyman I visited the site she linked to, Niggermania and literally became physically ill. The depth of depravity found on the site cannot be adequately described in polite civil speech. It is just that bad.

The sites apparent owner/administrator, Tom Shelly, must be as sub human as it gets as Tom Shelly Publishing is as evil, depraved, and as sickening as it gets. Of course he has side kicks that are just as pathetically deranged as he is.

I decided to do this post from a desire to help expose the pockets of pure evil and hatred that drives bigotry and racism. Decent and honorable people have a responsibility to expose sites such as these and the low life sub human animals that operate them.  Sheria, who writes from personal experiences and is a much better writer than I, says it best;

What about black children? As an adult, my pulse grew more rapid and I began to feel that someone was standing on my chest as I read through this site. What about black children who stumble across sites that proclaim that they are not human and which cite to studies by Arthur Jensen featuring his declarations that blacks are inherently intellectually inferior to whites? What psychological damage is wrought by exposure to these unrelenting racist lies?

Sites such as these may make an argument for their right to exist as a first amendment issue. I suspect that they continually assert that the site is not about hate to protect themselves against a possible challenge of their 1st amendment rights based on the use of hate speech to incite violence against a protected class--race, religion, national origin, etc. I lack the skills to mount a cyber attack against the site as one of my friend suggested. Besides, it would accomplish nothing; they would still be slithering around corners fomenting racism.

What I would like to see is a lot of attention focused on these people. Turn the spotlight on their sickness and expose them for the rotting carcasses that they really are. They are vampires; they don't feed on blood but on ethics, on morality, and everything that makes us decent. A stake through the heart isn't the only way to end a vampire; dragging them into the light will render them into a pile of dust.

So pass along the information about these sites. Tell your friends. Tell anyone who insists that the only issue with race is that black people keep playing the race card. No matter how well intentioned, burying one's head in the sand and pretending that the monster doesn't exist never works out well. To save the day, the heroine must kill the monster and destroy its lair.

Evil is made stronger when good women and men choose to do nothing in the hopes the evil will just go away. As Sheria so aptly points out only by shining a spotlight on the evil of racism and hateful racial sites can we hope to ever eradicate it from society.

the palm trees are calling my name

My 8-days-away-from-being-5 year old has been counting down the days since...December and it is finally time to hit the road! We are off for two weeks of quality beach time (and possible hurricane excitement).
Our trip from last year
No worries though, I've left you all in good hands. I've got several wonderful ladies lined up to entertain and educate while I'm gone. You never know, one of them might even dance for you or something.

So be sure to stay tuned and I'll be back in September with lots of projects to show and (hopefully) some good finds from my trip!

Has the rEpublican Party Out Lived its Usefullness?...

The Neanderthal Party of 2012

Once again the rEpublican party statist power base proving it is out of touch with reason. Determined to remain a force in subduing opposing political views within the party's already small tent.

BuzzFeed Politics - The Republican National Committee's Rules Committee voted to require written certification that a presidential candidate has a plurality of delegates from five states in order to get a space on the convention ballot — a move intended to provide a warning in the event of floor movement toward an insurgent candidate.

Tennessee committeeman John Ryder push the rules change to eliminate "distractions" on the convention floor, in an effort to "try to create a more streamlined convention procedure, that better reflects the realities," he said.

"The focus is to get away from some of the residue of the 19th century," he added.

Ryder also proposed raising the threshold for inclusion on the ballot from winning a plurality of 5 states to 10 states, a thinly-veiled move to make it harder for an insurgent candidate like Ron Paul to come up for a vote at the convention. Paul has urged his supporters not to disrupt Romney's nomination, but his delegates have also bitterly battled Romney supporers for tickets to Tampa.

"Unless you've got a real contest, where you have two candidates or three candidates who actually have a mathematical chance of winning, then why do we want to go through the exercise," Ryder said.

"It's not an intent to block a specific candidate," Ryder said when asked about Paul, but said it's meant to prevent a future candidate who wins between 5 and 10 states from earning a spot on the ballot.

The threshold change was rejected by the rules committee after the loud objections by Ron Paul supporters and by committee-people from states with significant Paul contingents, but the notification requirement made the party's rules.

Damn it feels good to have distanced oneself from the fascist leaning rEpublican party!

Todd Akin defies calls from Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan to quit race as GOP pulls $5M in ad funds

Todd Akin defies calls from Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan to quit race as GOP pulls $5M in ad funds

Embattled Rep. Todd Akin is insisting he’s in the U.S. Senate race to stay, saying “this is not about my ego” but about the voters of Missouri who chose him as their nominee.
Akin confirmed in a nationally broadcast interview that Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan called him to personally plea that he step aside in the wake of the searing controversy surrounding his comments about abortion.
But Akin says, “It’s not right for party bosses to override” the voters of Missouri. He says he told Ryan that he was thinking things over and wants to “do what’s right.” But he also says he’s not abandoning his race, arguing that “I’m planning to win it.”
Akin acknowledges it was a mistake for him to refer to “legitimate” rapes but says he’s apologized for that and that the voters of Missouri knew they weren’t getting a “perfect” candidate.
Akin says in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that “I’m not apologizing for the fact that I’m pro-life.” He also appeared on NBC’s “Today” show.
Earlier, Akin took his message to conservative talk radio shows, declaring GOP leaders were overreacting by insisting he abandon his quest to unseat Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, and to social media with appeals for donations on his Twitter feed claiming “liberal elites” are trying to push him out of the race.
