Chelsea Clinton joins Gay Rights Distraction Away from ObamaCare Failure, Benghazi, 93 million unemployed, U.S. Trillions in Debt etc…

The only thing Democrat can do to combat a projected historical defeat in November’s mid te elections is to change the subject to Gay Rights and Climate change.  It’s the shaking of the shinny toys tactic to distract the public’s attention away from the disaster of ObamaCare and a failing economy.
Chelsea is doing her part.

Boston Herald reports former first daughter Chelsea Clinton said Sunday that the gay-rights cause made "incredible progress" on political and legal fronts in 2013, but progress should not be mistaken for success.

Clinton called lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues "the unfinished business of the 21st century" in an address at a national conference in Las Vegas where actress Ellen Page came out as gay days earlier in an emotional speech that's stirred a social media outpouring.

Clinton urged a crowd of 600 professionals who work with children to become more sensitive to the needs of LGBT youth, saying the deck is stacked against them because of bullying, rejection and other harassment.

"I've often been asked why issues of equality are so important to me. Frankly, I don't know why they ask that question," Clinton said. "This is about the premise and promise of our country. (It's) always marching forward to a more perfect union. I was raised in a family where inertia is not an option."

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Matthew Roskowske was driving and 15-year-old Cameron Stewart was his passenger.

The two victims attended Northwest High School, which now has lost four students to traffic accidents in the past year.

Jamie Coots, who obeyed a Biblical scripture that exhorts believers to literally “take up serpents,” died after a rattler bit him during a service.

MIDDLESBORO, KY.—Jamie Coots, a snake-handling Kentucky pastor who appeared on the National Geographic television reality show Snake Salvation, died Saturday after being bitten by a snake.
Coots was handling a rattlesnake during a Saturday night service at his Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name Church in Middlesboro when he was bitten, another preacher, Cody Winn, told WBIR-TV.
“Jamie went across the floor. He had one of the rattlers in his hand, he came over and he was standing beside me. It was plain view, it just turned its head and bit him in the back of the hand … within a second,” Winn said.
When an ambulance arrived at the church at 8:30 p.m., they were told Coots had gone home, police said later. Contacted at his house, Coots refused medical treatment.
Emergency workers left about 9:10 p.m. When they returned about an hour later, Coots was dead from a venomous snake bite.
In January 2013, Coots was caught transporting three rattlesnakes and two copperheads. Wildlife officials confiscated the snakes, and Coots pleaded guilty to illegally wildlife possession. He was given one year of unsupervised probation.
Coots said then he needed the snakes for religious reasons, citing a Bible passage in the book of Mark that reads, in part:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Coots said he took the passage at face value.
“We literally believe they want us to take up snakes,” Coots said a year ago. “We’ve been serpent handling for the past 20 or 21 years.”
After he was bitten Saturday night, Coots dropped the snakes, but then picked them back up and continued on. Within minutes, Winn said Coots headed to the bathroom.
His son, Cody, told the television station his dad had been bit eight times before but never had such a severe reaction. Cody Coots said he thought the bite would be just like all the others.
“We’re going to go home, he’s going to lay on the couch, he’s going to hurt, he’s going to pray for a while and he’s going to get better. That’s what happened every other time, except this time was just so quick and it was crazy, it was really crazy,” Cody Coots said.
In 1995, 28-year-old Melinda Brown, of Parrottsville, Tenn., died after being bitten at Coot’s church by a 1.5-metre timber rattlesnake.
Her relatives disputed accounts that the mother of five had been holding the snake that bit her and disagreed with witnesses who said she refused medical treatment while she suffered the effects of the venom for two days at Coots’ home.
The county attorney wanted to prosecute under a 1942 state law that made it illegal to handle or display snakes during religious services. But the judge refused to sign the criminal complaint.
“If the court thought that a trial would act to deter future snake handling in church, my decision would be different,” Judge James Bowling wrote. “But you and I both know that this practice is not going to stop until either rattlesnakes or snake handlers become extinct.”

Firing NYC teachers: mission impossible because Teachers Union hookup with Democrat Party, Minority Students pay the price of lousy teachers

This shouldn’t be a surprise!  The relationship between unions and the Democrat Party is well established.  As a result of sweetheart deals between New York Democrats politicians and the powerful teacher’s union, the money goes round and round as votes come into Democrats and teachers are guaranteed jobs for life regardless if they’re good teachers are not.

NY DailyNews reports if there’s one thing that’s important to good schools, it’s good teachers. That’s the premise of a groundbreaking lawsuit now being heard in Los Angeles Supreme Court that challenges entrenched California state laws protecting the jobs of public school teachers who are “grossly ineffective.”

The nine student plaintiffs, Vergara vs. California, argue that laws protecting even abysmally incompetent teachers violate the guaranteed civil right of the state’s children to access a decent education.

The outcome of the case could have big implications for New York. Despite the state’s highly visible new teacher evaluation law and a perception of radical change under the Bloomberg administration, a scandalous reality remains: Here, as in California, it is virtually impossible to dismiss a grossly ineffective teacher.

This is because the particularly crucial New York State law governing teacher dismissal, 3020-a, was left essentially untouched by both the contentious new teacher evaluation legislation and recent city reforms.

Under that law, only the state can dismiss a teacher — and it rarely does.

Silliness of Progressive Climate Change Obessios:Kerry –“Global Warming bigger threat than Terrorism!” as Volcano Disrupts Trip

The fundamental progressive assumption that CO2 causes temperature to rise is completely false!  To see an explanation of how this is the case see the definitive documentary that has proven global warming or human caused climate change to be a hoax.

Approximately 1,400 volcanoes produce significantly more Co2 in one year than all human activity combined.  So it’s pretty funny that Kerry’s trip gets disrupted a volcano.
Bloombergreports U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said global warming is as big a threat as terrorism in a speech in Indonesia, the world’s largest exporter of coal for power plants, seeking to burnish his credential as a climate champion before deciding on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project.

Speaking yesterday in the capital of Jakarta, the last stop on his three-nation Asia tour, Kerry called on the international community -- nations and individuals -- to do more now as addressing climate change required a global solution. The speech came against the backdrop of the eruption of the Mount Kelud volcano that disrupted air travel in the region and forced the cancellation of Kerry’s planned meeting today with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono

“We’ve seen here in Asia how extreme weather events can disrupt world trade,” Kerry said to an audience of Indonesian students and business leaders. “In today’s globalized economy, the entire world feels it.”
Kerry’s emphasis on the importance of individual responsibility coincides with his dilemma on whether to back TransCanada Corp. (TRP)’s proposal for a $5.4 billion pipeline to carry heavy crude from Canadato U.S. refineries along the Gulf of Mexico.

happy rainbow birthday presidents day

Today is a holiday on top of a holiday. Not only do the girls have school off for President's Day, but it is also this girls third birthday. (you can take a look at her first birthday party here)

We had the family party last night but we've got more out of control 3-year-old fun planned for today. So I'm off to put make-up on Barbie and play with race cars. Check back tomorrow when I'll have a report on some grown-up fun from this weekend. (Hint - it rhymes with mestate sale)

Until then, may your day be as bright and sunny as our centerpiece was. (three guesses what the theme of the day was)
