Plan to split California into six states gains ground

As a result of one party Democrat rule that has made California the biggest welfare state in the Union, Californians are fleeing to lower tax states.  And I can guarantee the biggest opponents of this idea will be progressives who’ll want to keep California a welfare state so they can maintain power.
Yahoo Newsreports a plan to divide California into six separate US states is closer to making it on to a November ballot, with organizers gaining approval to collect signatures.
The seemingly far-fetched initiative, sponsored by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper, claims "political representation of California's diverse population and economies has rendered the state nearly ungovernable."

And on Tuesday, the California Secretary of State's office gave the movement a boost, saying that proponents "may begin collecting petition signatures."

At least 807,615 voters -- representing eight percent of the total ballots cast for governor in the 2010 election -- will need to sign the petition by July 18 to make it on to the ballot.

The proposal aims to split the state -- America's most populous with around 38 million inhabitants -- into "six smaller state governments, while preserving the historical boundaries of the various counties, cities and towns."

In 2012, California was tied with Russia and Italy -- all with a GDP of approximately $2.0 trillion -- for eighth place in world GDP rankings, according to the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy.

The proposal would create a state out of Silicon Valley, home to tech giants Google, Facebook and Apple. It would also create South California, which would include Hollywood and the US entertainment industry.

West California, Central California, North California, and Jefferson in the most northern part of the state, would also go it alone.

Caballeros Templarios Allegedly Killed Over 20 Linda Vista Inhabitants In Guerrero

Authorities in the state of Guerrero in Mexico are investigating the massacre of more than 20 Linda Vista inhabitants, including men, women, elderly and children among the dead.

February 22, 2014

Linda Vista, Guerrero, Mexico - On Friday, an estimated 50 armed men invaded a rural town of Linda Vista in the municipality of San Miguel Totolapan in the state of Guerrero, according to Leopoldo Soberanis Hernández, President of the Guerrero Alliance of Human Rights. Hernández received a call from a resident of Linda Vista notifying him that armed men had arrived at the town between 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and had massacre inhabitants that included men, women, elderly and children.
The death toll could rise to 27, but state authorities haven't confirmed how many fatalities were discovered. One rural road connects the town to other towns in the municipality.
The town is about 12 hours from Acapulco. Linda Vista has a population of 1,203, with 636 men and 567 women.
Township residents say, that they alerted state authorities about 15 days ago of prior threats to the town by a drug cartel and on Sunday, the inhabitants had planned a general assembly to discuss the formation of a self-defense community security force. Hernández says, that authorities never responded or sent troops to the area and left the township defenseless against attacks by a criminal organization.
The armed commando apparently were identified as members of the Caballeros Templarios (CT),  according to inhabitants.
The CT had warned and threaten to kill inhabitants,  if they intended to form a self-defense group. Mexican authorities have not confirmed,  if the CT was involved in the massacre.

Bill passes in Arizona that lets businesses cite religious beliefs in refusing service protecting religious freedom against trumped up lawsuits by LBGT activists

Progressives and the Gay Mafia are quick to call this bill a license to discriminate against Gays.  But, that’s a smokescreen from the real issue of protecting religious freedom of business owners.

There is no shortage of businesses that will cater to the LBGT community.  However, Gays purposely seek out businesses run by people of faith in order to manufacture a confrontation to get publicity for their agenda.  This law protects business owners from those trumped up controversies and it’s most certainly a good thing.

The Spokesman Review reports the Arizona Legislature gave final approval Thursday evening to legislation that allows business owners asserting their religious beliefs to refuse service to gays, drawing backlash from Democrats who called the proposal “state-sanctioned discrimination” and an embarrassment.

The 33-27 vote by the House sends the legislation to Republican Gov. Jan Brewer and puts Arizona back at the forefront of a polarizing piece of legislation four years after the state enacted an immigration crackdown that caused a national furor.

Similar religious protection legislation has been introduced in Ohio, Mississippi, Idaho, South Dakota, Tennessee and Oklahoma, but Arizona’s plan is the only one that has passed. The efforts are stalled in Idaho, Ohio and Kansas.

Republicans stressed that the bill is about protecting religious freedom and not discrimination. They frequently cited the case of a New Mexico photographer who was sued after refusing to take wedding pictures of a gay couple and said Arizona needs a law to protect people in the state from heavy-handed actions by courts and law enforcement.
“This bill is not about allowing discrimination,” Republican Sen. Steve Yarbrough said. “This bill is about preventing discrimination against people who are clearly living out their faith.”

As the Nuge Back Peddles... Or Did He?

As the Nuge Back Peddles... Or Did He?
Ted "the degenerate" Nugent apologized today for calling the President "a sub-human mongrel." Or did he. Watch the clip below and you be the judge.

Since Nugent is hoping to learn from better men than himself the game of politics could this mean he is planing a run for Congress? The Senate?

This nation can only hope that if he is he never makes it past the primaries.

Now, for Tea Party favorite Senator Ted "Green Eggs and Ham" Cruz on Nugent's remark.

Hm, did I miss something or did Cruz do a nice side shuffle?

Texas republican Attorney General Greg Abbott and likely gubernatorial nominee when pressed on why he he selected Nugent to campaign with him to bolster his 2'nd amendment right credentials (not that Abbot needed bolstering) refused to answer.

Sometime not answering speaks volumes about the person being questioned. Texas sure does breed em big and dumb.

Finally outgoing Governor Rick Perry on the Nugent remark.

Well congratulations to Governor Rick Perry for acknowledging that Nugent's remark was inappropriate. It is unfortunate however that the Governor didn't have the b**ls to not only severely criticize Nugent but to send the message to people that individuals like Nugent do not represent the republican party... But that would likely be a lie as apparently they do.

McRINO aka Joh McCain: Hillary Would Win Presidential Election if Held Tomorrow

FCC Temporarily Throws In the Towel on Explosive Monitoring Newsrooms the way they do totalitarian countries like Hitler’s Germany

I’m not going sugarcoat what President Obama’s FCC wants to do to stifle real journalism that is practices at Fox News and conservative blogs like this one.

Have you notice have you notice how the vast majority of the corrupt media ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC have nothing to say about this story? That’s because they already carry the water for the Democrat Party agenda and take their talking points from the White House as we speak.

National Review reports the Federal Communications Commission has pulled the plug on its plan to conduct an intrusive probe of newsrooms as part of a “Critical Information Needs” survey of local media markets.

However, a revised version of the survey could raise new concerns: that it will trade its now-kiboshed news questions for a demographic survey that might justify new race-based media ownership rulemaking.

“[I]n the course of FCC review and public comment, concerns were raised that some of the questions may not have been appropriate,” the FCC announced in a statement Friday. “Chairman [Tom] Wheeler agreed that survey questions in the study directed toward media outlet managers, news directors, and reporters overstepped the bounds of what is required. Last week, Chairman Wheeler informed lawmakers that that Commission has no intention of regulating political or other speech of journalists or broadcasters and would be modifying the draft study. Yesterday, the Chairman directed that those questions be removed entirely.”

The Critical Information Needs (CIN) survey has been a slow-burning controversy since ever since this reporter first revealed its existence in October 2013.
First Amendment supporters objected that the design of the survey would have had FCC representatives interrogating newsroom staffers about how they make coverage decisions and select (or spike) story ideas. Many commentators objected to the potential intimidation involved in such a survey.

Venezuela National March For Solidarity In Country To Challenge Maduro's Defiance

Millions of Venezuelans expected to defy President Nicolás Maduro's ban on peaceful marches and demonstrations in the country.

Caracas, Venezuela - A Venezuelan national march has been called for Saturday, February 22, 2014. President Nicolás Maduro has said, "No permit, No march." But the Venezuelan Republican Constitution allows the people of Venezuela to ignore him.
The Venezuelan Constitution states in Article 350., "The people of Venezuela, loyal to its Republican tradition, struggle for its independence, for peace and liberty, will not recognize any regime, legislation or authority in contrary to the values, principles, democratic guarantees,  or impair human rights."
On Saturday,  President Maduro will definitely hear the thundering sound of millions of pots and pans being banged as a protest to his oppressive state. Venezuelans have had enough of being oppressed and their rights infringed in contrary to their Constitutional inherent rights to express themselves and to demand change.

The Optimist's Guide to Western Housing Certainty (Musical Tribute)

The following chart shows the annual change in the semiannual average of new one family homes sold in the West Census Region.

What's the worst that could happen from here? Okay, sure. The growth rate is currently negative and has been falling for 18 months. That's just this winter's East Coast's polar vortex temporarily rippling back through space and time though. Any rational optimist can see that.

Further, we already knew that the East Coast's weather would carry over to existing home sales in the West. To think otherwise is just crazy talk!

In all seriousness, the housing optimists better hope we not only stay in the channel but move back above 0% soon, or speculators may someday wish that they had embraced their fistfuls of dollars instead.

Parabolic Corporate Debt

The following chart shows real nonfinancial corporate business credit market liabilities per capita (September 2013 dollars).

An exponential trend channel did not fit the data well at all but a parabolic trend sure did.

Parabolic moves are not sustainable over the long-term. This is a mathematical certainty. About the only thing open for debate here is the timing of the failure(s).

There's a reason that so few of the companies in the S&P 500 still have AAA ratings. It is not something pointed out on CNBC though. No, sir. It's just piles and piles of corporate cash that's talked about. Why won't they spend their hoard? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

1. Over the short-term, we're pretty much at the top of the channel again. This data ends in the 3rd quarter of 2013. Keep in mind that 5 months have elapsed since then. This is not even remotely the ideal investment environment that we saw in 1982 (where we were right at the bottom of the trend channel with plenty of room to grow).

2. Over the long-term, to put it bluntly, we are so @#$%ed.

March 21, 2012
Parabolic Moves Always Have Their Reasons

A parabolic advance will continue as long as there is an inflow of money to keep the move going. But, then at some point the inflow of funds begins to fade and when it does gravity sets in. It is at that point that price begins to soften. As price begins to soften the smarter money begins to exit and prices begin to soften more. In the end all parabolic advances end pretty much the same and the late-comers to the party are typically left holding the bag.

I can't say when the parabolic trend will fail (either in the short-term or the long-term) but I will say this. I became a permabear over debt concerns. I remain a permabear over debt concerns.

When the @#$% hits the fan again, and it certainly will if we continue to follow parabolic debt paths, then I'd much rather be owning "bubbly" inflation protected US treasuries backed by a monetary printing press than "bubbly" corporate debt backed by "private jets, office renovations, and custom-built commodes." Of course, that's just an opinion. Your opinion may vary.

This is not investment advice.

That you are here—that life exists and identity, That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

O Me! O Life!

Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

                                       Answer.
That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

Dead Toll Rising In Venezuela As Military Launches Assault On Demonstrators

Photos: #Táchira

President Maduro has launched a major military regime oppression assault in Táchira and other states in Venezuela to restore order.

By H. Nelson Goodson
February 21, 2014

Táchira, Venezuela - On Friday, more than 3,000 Venezuelan troops have arrived in the state of Táchira, including F-16 jet fighters, tanks and armed helicopters to squash anti-government demonstrations and a freedom resistance. Security forces are also using water cannons to disperse street crowds.
Anti-government groups say, they will continue their demonstrations nationally today and Saturday. Maduro has blamed the U.S. for funding the escalation of demonstrations in Venezuela.
The dead toll and wounded casualties are rising in multiple states, according to information being posted in social networks. All types of communication is being blocked, Internet service was shut down and any information or photos, including local news reports censored by President Nicolás Maduro. The Venezuela government had revoked CNN's authorized news access. CNN had also been expelled from the country, but Maduro later decided to allow CNN to continue news coverage in Venezuela.
Maduro has ordered all demonstrators arrested and for military forces to use deadly force when necessary against what he is labeling fascists (freedom resistance). But security forces and Cuban mercenaries are just shooting at anyone they suspect is anti-government,  according to postings on the Internet coming out of Venezuela.
In San Cristóbal, Cuban paramilitary groups have been invading homes and taking out suspected anti-government civilians, according to Twitter postings reporting on Táchira. Internet service has been shut down for over 36 hours in San Cristóbal.
Maracaibo and others states are reporting oppressive actions by Maduro's military,  but Maduro calls it restoring order (with an iron fist). Some resistance throughout the night led to molotov cocktail throwing by civilians in response to Maduro's oppression.
A video going viral on the Internet shows Maduro banning demonstrations without a permit according to law, but in contrary it also shows former late President Hugo Chavez responding that over 1,500 peaceful demonstrations had taken place in Venezuela and not one soldier or police officer ever intervened. Chavez says, that Venezuelan people don't need a permit to peacefully demonstrate and to express an opinion. Maduro believes otherwise.
A female student was reported killed at Ferrero Tamayo in Táchira by security forces.
This is the posted Spanish message going viral on the Internet from Táchira, ""SOS Tachira..
Miguel Torres Rodríguez,  the Venezuelan Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace announced that the bullet that killed Miss Tourism 2013 of Carabobo, Génisis Carmona, 22, a college student model came from within the demonstrators. But, anti-government groups dispute Rodríguez claim and say, Maduro's military infiltrated the peaceful demonstration and began to shoot indiscriminately at the crowds to cause chaos that led to mass panic and reaction from demonstrators.

A Venezuelan national march has been called for Saturday. President Nicolás Maduro has said, "No permit, No march." But the Venezuelan Republican Constitution allows the people of Venezuela to ignore him. (Click on image to enlarge)
