Missing Dallas teen Emelin Lazo and former teacher Scott Paul Alcaraz found, girl safe at home

This could have ended much worse with this girl dead somewhere in a ditch.  People around the country need to demand tougher laws specifically against teacher s wh have sex with students.  It’s a countrywide problem that needs to be addressed. 

WFAA reports suspected runaway 15-year-old Emelin Lazo and her former Dallas ISD middle school teacher have been found safe and are in custody, Dallas Police Lt. Max Geron said.

At about noon on Wednesday, officers in the Dallas Police Department's Southeast Division received a tip from someone in the community and spotted Lazo and Scott Paul Alcaraz walking near a motel. Police took the pair into custody without incident around noon Wednesday.

Lazo went missing Monday morning and sent her mother a text message that said she wanted to be with Scott Paul Alcaraz, 27, a former math teacher and assistant basketball coach at Thomas C. Marsh Middle School.

Alcaraz was fired in April 2013 after he was charged with sexual assault. A 14-year-old girl told police the former teacher had sex with her in a classroom at the school.
Alcaraz had been on house arrest, but police say he cut off his ankle monitor last Friday.
