Man Lost In The Pacific Ocean For 13 Months Found By Marshall Island Inhabitants

Ocean drifter washed up at Marshall Island where inhabitants found him wearing worned off shorts and underwear.

Jose Ivan Alvarengo, 37,  from El Salvador worked for a company in Mexico and his boat washed up at Marshall Island in El Salvador on Thursday after a year in the ocean.  He claims that he was lost in the Pacific Ocean for 13 months, ate raw fish, drank rain water, his own urine, turtle and bird blood to stay alive. The 24' fiberglass boat drifted for 8,000 miles shortly after bring blown off coarse by northerly winds and losing his boat engines during a storm.
He sailed from a port near Tapalucha, Mexico bordering Guatemala. His teenage Mexican young companion died four weeks into the drift because he didn't want to eat raw fish, which the journey began on December 21, 2012. They went out for a day of shark fishing and were caught in a storm and were drifted further into the Pacific Ocean.
Alvarengo has lived in Mexico for 15 years and wants to go back to Mexico.
Authorities in Mexico and El Salvador are trying to verify his story.
